Origin on Wii U unlikely for now, says Moore

Wii U is to incorporate a degree of connectivity with EA’s Origin service, although details are still scant. It seems that it will – at least – require all EA games being played on Wii U to be authenticated by Origin. EA’s Peter Moore has discussed the matter in a new interview.

Ghosts ‘n Goblins hits the 3DS Virtual Console today, and to celebrate, Capcom offered to send a shot glass to the first person to beat the notoriously difficult platformer – and really beat it, not the “tricked by Satan” ending. Although it hasn’t yet been verified, it looks like somebody has already managed it, which even with plenty of practice on the NES original is almost incredible.

Dragon Quest X Wii U beta set for February in Japan

Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online will go into beta in February, Square announced this morning during its Nintendo Direct presentation. Beta vouchers will be included in the Premium Set editions of Wii U systems in Japan. Due to Wii and Wii U players sharing the same server, character data from Wii can be imported over to Wii U. Players will also be able to create items such as furniture, create parties, and customize their characters. Dragon Quest X will launch in Japan next year. Thanks, Gematsu.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC announced for Japan

New Super Mario Bros. 2 will receive two new downloadable content packs today in Japan, Nintendo announced during its Nintendo Direct stream this morning. The DLC contains a Gold Mushroom Harvesting Pack with 2/5 difficulty, and a Record Challenge B Pack with 3/5 difficulty. A North American Nintendo Direct occurs later this morning at 10.00am EST, and it’s possible Nintendo will announced the content for the western region as well during the presentation.
