Easily the best Lego game yet, Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes' expansive world, original story, and bevy of unlockables should please fans of all ages.

So while I do tend to be pretty positive about the LEGO series as a whole, it's also easy to see that this is the best effort Traveler's Tales has put into the franchise as of yet.

While some may be horrified to discover that the gurning Lego figures now come fully voiced, in context it makes perfect sense.

TT Games offered what is, probably, the best LEGO game to date. Tons of stuff to do, great humor and a superb co-op mode will keep you company all through the summer.

It's not perfect, with slightly clumsy partner AI and awkward flying mechanics for Superman featuring prominently, but any game that makes you continue to smile long after you've finished it, is a special game indeed.

It's simply a phenomenally assured game, a pleasure to explore, and bursting with barely contained enthusiasm for its comic-book universe.

Trimming off dead-weight as often as it adds something new, this is the strongest LEGO game yet. We've had seven years' worth of iterations, but these cheeky blocks of plastic are still fantastic.

While TT did a fantastic job with this game, there are a few problems that need to be worked out but in all, they set the bar a little bit higher for their next adventure that I can only hope will be a LEGO Marvel game.

Just what the doctor ordered. It's fun, clever, charming, action-packed, replayable, and, above all, loyal to DC Comics and the LEGO videogame universe. I totally dig games intended for both young hands and old minds alike and once again, Traveller's Tales have delivered.

LEGO Batman 2 is the best LEGO title to date and one that uses all of the source material on offer to wonderful effect. Tightly constructed levels interplay brilliantly with the freedom of roaming the Gotham streets and that usual attitude of snagging all the studs, bricks and characters has never been so alluring.

It's not a very deep game, but LEGO Batman 2 manages to charm with its open world and large roster. Fans of DC will love how many characters show up, while everybody else will have a good time taking down the Joker once again. Best of all, this game sets things up for the far more interesting LEGO Justice League adventure that is bound to be announced any time now!

While LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes suffers from a few questionable design decisions, none of the them ultimately detract from what is an excellent adventure.

It's the best in series, but make no mistake: Lego Batman 2 is still very much a Lego game, light-hearted silliness and extremely low difficulty included. Apart from that, the game does an excellent job of telling a great comic book story thanks to the much-needed addition of spoken language, inciting laughs in children and adults alike. The open world adds much to the familiar formula, even if the navigation of Gotham Citys grimy streets is sometimes borderline frustrating.

On the whole, the biggest difference here to other LEGO games comes in the sheer size of Gotham, though its secrets aren't open to you until you get through the game.

Traveller's Tales took some chances with Lego Batman 2. The addition of spoken dialogue paid off well, and I hope it becomes a standard for all of this developer's games moving forward. Moving the classic Lego gameplay into a vast overworld is also a success, but the redundancy in secret solutions in this play space hurts the experience, and almost becomes a mundane collect-a-thon. Thankfully, the classic Lego gameplay dominates the main game, making Lego Batman 2 another goofy brick-building blast to play.

There is a great cast of characters complete with an equally great voice cast (including some of the animated DC shows) and with the other DC heroes and it feels like the developers are using this to test the waters for all of them to get their own games so let us hope this will finally give us a great Superman game!

One of the best LEGO video games up to date. The reasons are: it doesn't have flaws as the previous LEGO titles and it intensifies the action with characters' voices along with using the whole potential of the Batman universe.

Traveller's Tales has done a good job of fitting together multi-part, leap-frog puzzles to break up the tedium of punching LEGO men to pieces.

It's impressive how Traveller's Tales manages to keep improving on their Lego-game formula. Each new game is a little better than the last one and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is no exception. It's got great pacing, a hilarious story and solid working game mechanics. Strongly recommended for both young and old.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is an entertaining game. It is obviously created for children, but still contains all the elements you'd like to see in a Batman game. Especially the puzzles are well crafted and will make sure you'll never be doing the same thing for five minutes. The only downside are the problems with the multiplayer, but that slight hiccup doesn't stop this being the best Lego game to date.

Yet another step forward for the LEGO games, with new gameplay elements and a great cast of characters that help it to stay on top of TT Games' line-up. Nonetheless, the series starts to look a little bit tired and in need of important changes and improvements.

Though LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes does not have many levels in its storymode, the large open world that is Gotham City is a very pleasant feature. There are tons of golden bricks to collect, red bricks to buy and villains to search for. And it is just as nice to go on a discovery trip in the open world as it is to play the levels and collect everything to get to that 100% completion mark.

LEGO fans will enjoy it, DC fans will love it, and fans of both…well, you probably already have it. With just the right balance of new ideas and familiar gaming comfort food, LEGO Batman 2 should please all but the most curmudgeonly of gamers.

TT Games have clearly understood the criticism that's been aimed at their games of late, and Lego Batman 2 is without a doubt the best experience I've ever had with any of the Lego games.

Despite feeling instantly familiar, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes isn't just more of the same. It improves the core gameplay of the series, adds new features and characters, offers a long, engaging and well-presented story and swaps the hub area for a visually rich and fun-packed Gotham City to explore. There are issues that need addressing in the open world, but this is still the best LEGO game in the franchise so far.

Lego Batman 2: DC Heroes isn't groundbreaking but it is consistently fun, and while it might not take top honours for best Batman game of all time (that belt is still held by Batman: Arkham City), it's easily the best Lego game we've seen in years.

LEGO Batman 2's greatest strength is not only in how it balances its difficulty and length, but also in how the sandbox world will give you way more playtime and challenges to solve afterwards. Also, players can choose to be Superman and solve problems easily or play with Batman to make them more challenging.

A great LEGO game - my favourite to date. The risky addition of dialogue pays off, allowing Traveller's Tales to run wild in a way previously impossible with the series.

If you are a fan of superheroes and/or a fan of the Lego franchise of games, Lego Batman 2 will attract you for sure, if you don't find yourself in this category though, feel free to take a look at this game anyhow, as you might just find yourself surprised at what is offered.

If you're a fan of the LEGO titles, there's a lot to enjoy in LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, and the new bits Traveller's Tales added -- when they work -- work wonderfully. When they don't, though, be prepared to buy a new controller as you hurl the one in your hands through the wall.

While it may be a step up for the franchise, it doesn't do anything radical that will sway non-fans. LEGO Batman 2 may encourage more exploration, but thematically, and gameplay wise, it's still relatively simplistic.

You know what you'll get with Lego games. It's a great family game with lots of humor and content, but at the same time it's more or less the same as its predecessor, complete with the same (minor) flaws. It's about time for TT Games to at least fix those flaws.
  49. Jul 13, 2012

The second Lego Batman game has a lot to offer for almost every one. Some of the puzzles are a little big to hard for the younger audience that enjoyed the previous games, which is a shame.
  50. Jul 9, 2012
    70
Lego Batman 2 is packed with fun DC Universe content, tricky puzzles and compulsive collecting, but it's let down by the repetitive and often tedious combat mechanics. It's virtually impossible to fail, making the real challenge one of player interest. Combined with clunky controls, there's enough wrong to prevent this game from becoming a Lego classic.
  51. Jul 2, 2012

With a little more polish, LEGO Batman 2 could have been a high point of the franchise. Instead, it's merely another enjoyable entry in the lineup of LEGO games.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes does not betray the standards of the Lego franchise, adding a few targeted new features and presenting himself as a must buy for fans.
  53. Jun 26, 2012
    70
As a DC Comics crossover game, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is quiet fun to play like the previous title of the IP developed by TT Games. Even if the usual weaknesses remain, the title brings interesting features like full dialogues that offer a pleasant experience in the series, sometimes to the detriment of humor. Finally, the open-world universe lets players discover Gotham City, LEGO-style, despite some problems with camera positions and characters that happen to be stuck into walls.
  54. Jun 20, 2012

Side missions and hidden blocks are suitably distracting, although the use of a difficult-to-read radar over a mini-map displays a certain level of open world naivety that should probably be expected from a developer that has just been going through the motions for so long.
  55. Jun 19, 2012
    70
It's still not a full reinvention of the Lego template but it is one of the most enjoyable uses of it so far, with an open world Gotham and a cast of characters to rival Arkham City.
  56. Jun 22, 2012

Although it's still as fun as ever to collect Lego bricks and watch the cutscenes, the lack of real change leads to the feeling that you've seen all this before. Batman is a meticulous self-improver; it would be nice if his Lego games had the same mentality.
  57. Sep 4, 2012

Like all the Lego games, the build/collect/smash em up nature is still just as addictive and the design is both brilliant and awful in equal measures. It's heart-warming and fun, two things which most comic games (and indeed comics) lose out on when they ham-fistedly attempt to be 'mature'. It's a grind though, so I think I'll sit the next few Lego games out while I regain the stamina to go through it all again. And I will go through it again.
  58. Jun 29, 2012
    60
If the fundamentals were a little more refined or the new ideas a little more fully implemented, I'd feel better about recommending it wholeheartedly, but given the new elements in play here, you can at least take heart that Traveller's Tales isn't resting on its laurels.
  59. 60
Despite a few fresh ideas, Lego Batman 2 is, creatively, the weakest game in the Lego franchise.

  1. "Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes" a game produced by Tell Tale (The Walking Dead, Monkey Island, Fable) of the famous LEGO games franchise. The story of the game begins with the Man of the Year award, in Gotham City, where the 2 runner ups are Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor, and where Bruce will receive the award - they are attacked by the Joker and other villains: from there, Bruce appears as Batman and begins the game - and there is already a hint of Lex Luthor will join Joker. The Graphics are improved: the structures and Legos have their classic appearance, but with details of texture and reflections of things around them are very good, with the sensation are made of plastic. The game scenarios graphics are good, but are always more detailed in close up, and not so much in the distance, which become more blurred. Gotham City has the aspect of a dark city, always in night, with constant light effects. Audio: the talking Legos are a nice change introduced, and I think that this gave the story and joke lines more interest. Almost everything in the CG are dubbed with original voices of actors from movies and cartoons, then obviously there is no complaints in that department, which is impeccable. The voices appear in all segments that tell the story, ie, the CG, and some characters speak in stages. The general feeling os the game is in a kind of funny tone (of course), and resemble a mixture of personalities from the Batman and Justice League animated series with the Batman movies of the 90s. The jokes are greatly improved with the use of dialogue. The songs used are the classic ones from the series and movies, with orchestral music as the theme of Batman and Superman. The gameplay is what we see in recent Lego games (especially Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean) merged with what we saw the first Lego Batman: stages in closed scenarios where you can destroy structures for credits, and destroy other objects that help to beat the stage and bonus items, while other bonuses are only accessible afterwards, with other powers given by different characters or other clothing. Of course as always we find the various collectibles that are part of all games (eg, gold bricks, vehicles, rescue). Moreover, we can play as in all other Lego games, in Coop, on the same console, which always is fun and convenient, since many stages require coordination of the 2 characters. Compared with other Lego games, the scenarios are more complex and full of things. Among the story stages, that sometimes are very large (and high), we see stages of vehicles gameplay, where you drive one of them (or Superman) and must reach and knock down the targets, in action sequences. The narrative and stages are linear, but after beating the stage, you can use Free Roam in the Menus, to get the missing collectibles. Although I do not tested the open world mode, with Superman, I've read that in this mode the Coop becomes Slit-screen due to the fact that the two characters you can not keep the same display because of the size of the map. In general, I found this one of the best Legos games: sum the theme and variety of scenarios in the DC universe and a open and wide world, with good graphics (thought at distance they could be better), and with a nice humor, with best jokes and funny lines thanks to the use of voice in the game. For those who like Batman and DC Universe, the Lego game series or more casual games, this game is a very nice choice - I would recommend this game and the Pirates of the Caribbean as the best games of the LEGO franchise. 2. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes joins Lego HP 5-7 and Lego Star Wars II of my favourite games to play. It has introduced many new mechanics and first-timers to the LEGO Franchise (Most Notable the talking Minifigs and the Open World - Gotham City) While still maintaining the all age friendly gameplay. This game is great for anyone to play on their own, or even better with a friend. A nice distraction and/or alternative from the overwhelming violence that is seen in the majority of games nowadays. The talking Minifigs, to which I was initially unsure about, turns out to be a stand out for LEGO Batman 2. Each character is funny and memorable (And Clancy Browns reprisal as Lex Luthor is top-notch). The Open World Hub is easily the most satisfying gameplay of the game. With the highest amount of Gold Bricks ever: 250 (Surpassing HP 5-7 at 200), Citizens in Peril and 50 Classic DC characters to find and unlock (Not as many as 5-7, respectively, because of a smaller original cast), I will continue to play this game for many more weeks. Also, each main character has his/er own special atributes to give to the gameplay. I can't tell you how awesome it felt like to take off as Superman, head vertically upwards, and slowly hear the Superman Theme (John Williams) creep in through the speakers. I found very few flaws, and none of them took away from the overall effect of the game. Co-op makes a return and is better than ever before, the sleek dynamic split-screen system is back in the Story Missions, and allows for players to explore Gotham City to their hearts content. Parents, if you or your children like DC Comics, and love to have a good laugh, this game must be at he top of your list. A Simply Magnificent Game. Full Review »
  3. This is not only a brilliant Lego game but also a brilliant superhero game. There is a massive variety in characters to choose from ranging from the different varieties of Batman to the invincible Martian Manhunter. The open world style gives the series a revamp and Gotham is incredibly fun to explore. Finally, the voices definitely add to the humour. Full Review »
