Need for Speed: Most Wanted confirmed for Wii U

Criterion Games' latest racing game due for Nintendo's upcoming platform sometime in 2013.

Wii U gamers will feel the need for speed, but not until 2013. An Electronic Arts representative confirmed to Polygon that Need for Speed: Most Wanted is in development for Wii U and will ship sometime during next year.

An exact release date was not provided, nor was information regarding whether or not the Wii U version will feature cross-platform play.

Additionally, it is not clear if the Wii U version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted will boast feature parity with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 iterations.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is due out tomorrow, October 30, for Xbox 360, PS3, and PlayStation Vita, as well as Android, and iOS devices. It was developed by Burnout creator Criterion Games and is an open-world racing game that has players competing against one another as well as an ever-present police force.

EA/Criterion, you're going to enhance this title for the console with a year old-based GPU? You're six years too late. Kill off Need For Speed and put Burnout on the line. Typical move, John Riccitiello. Typical lifeless foolish move.

No need EA, that console is DOA.

I am trying not to think of how fun it would be to manage a car with your fat finger at the wheel and your dumb hand covering the less-than-HD graphics on that screen that keeps shaking every time you breathe.

GreenReuben 87 pts

tgwolf it sounds like you have a serious medical condition, personally my hands are a bit steadier than that. I also don't plan on covering the screen with my whole hand, I'll use my fingers and will be able to see what I plan on touching.

tgwolf I know, right. 1080P looks like a screen door compared to the 3840×2160 my computer.

gamespot forgot to mention an Origin account is required for online play.

exclusively on the wii1.5

SavageEvil 98 pts

HiImUPSMan Just like PS3 and 360 or PC, or do you live under a rock? You can't play any new EA game online without signing it to Origin. Incredible how ignorant people like to point out things because they don't even realize that they are already doing that very same thing.

i think I'd be more excited for gran turismo

I feel for you guys, but the bright side the Wii U wll be the perfect place for the burnout  fanatic casuals who play this game now &  everything else on the system will complement there thirst for shallow simplistic gameplay that nintendo excels @

SavageEvil 98 pts

Tviper7 Don't understand your negative comments, you mad brah?

Like the 360 and PS3 aren't supported by casual gamers? Stupid comment of the week right folks, look at that comes in and wins first try, I bow to you sir.

SavageEvil  Tviper7 Xbox 360 has BECOME a casual system sorry to say and its not a bash cause thats how Microsoft is treating it currently compared to when it was first released...

Tviper7 9 pts

SavageEvil thank you! very much but really need to get over yourself if history repeats itself the WiiU will be paperweight just like the Wii, best selling system out of the box, but what does it mean if its setting in closet for most of its lifespan as console I'm just sayingshallow games/shallow systems end up in the trash or bargin bin fast

Bowser05 50 pts

 Tviper7  SavageEvil

Shallow games like Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Smash Bros., Metroid Prime Trilogy, Xenoblade Chronicles, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Punch Out, Zack & Wiki, Little King's Story, Super Paper Mario, Monster Hunter, Boom Blox, No More Heroes 1 + 2, MadWorld, Mario Kart, Muramasa, Rhythm Heaven, A Boy and His Blob, Klonoa, de Blob, The Last Story...?

SavageEvil 98 pts

Tviper7 You keep coming with comedy GOLD! Telling me to get over myself? Over what? You claiming that Wii U is some sore of casual only system when your console of choice isn't? Talk about head being to far up one's own ass to see that all consoles are supported by the casuals. If it weren't for the "casuals" do you think gaming would be as mainstream as it is? Look here Mr. Hardcore, take a little rest from your work at hardcore 101, if you even had a Wii you would have played the plethora of AAA games from Nintendo themselves. You aren't very bright or even notice that Nintendo this time around is letting 3rd parties have the launch period to themselves as Nintendo 1st and 2nd party games are usually the bees knees when they drop. History repeating itself is for idiots who don't know how to adapt to changes, you speak like one such individual. Your Wii sat in your closet, mine was on the same stand as the PS3 and 360 getting play time.

Bowser05  SavageEvil Here's the problem, almost every game u mentioned is nintendo product unless you eat sleep and breath nintendo no matter how hardcore or good the reviews are most won't be inspired to purchase  a Wii U, nintendo is beginning to become a cliche of itself because it has rely so heavily on its own established franchises if it doesn't change itll be same story again once true next gen hits Xbox720 and PS4 3rd party leaves then what ?as it is they aren't getting to much original software 3rd party wise or AAA title ports...

SavageEvil 98 pts

Tviper7  Don't pay attention much do you? Go look at the launch window for the Wii U and find how many 1st and 2nd party games on there. There are original titles as well in case you didn't know, Wonderful 101, ZombieU(ugly name but looks to be interesting) and that's just the beginning of it.  Save your doom and gloom forecast for yourself, no one asked for it.   Nintendo is supposed to rely on it's own franchises, how else would they make money? I said launch period belongs to 3rd parties, what same story are you making up? It's like you are one to feign ignorance just because you want to be right. Well sir if you want carry on by yourself then, good day sir!

Bowser05 50 pts

Tviper7  SavageEvilActually 13 out of the 24 titles I mentioned WERE NOT first party. Assuming I still know how to count, 13 is more than half of 12. Also, 007 Legends, AC3, Batman, Black Ops 2, Darksiders 2, Epic Mickey 2, Fifa 13, Just Dance 4, Mass Effect 3, Monster Hunter, Mario Bros. U,  Skylanders, Tekken and ZombiU all look like good games coming out around launch time or at least decent games. Only 1 of those is first party. Where are you getting your information?

Bowser05 50 pts

 Tviper7  SavageEvilHalf of 24 I mean.

SavageEvil  and lot of tho games are ports of games some great, and some average that have already been on market a while with some with a small  bit  of added exclusive content to entice  the consumer, nintendo fanatics will never learn, go right ahead ride that ship right into to oblivion, every time nintendo launches they start with ok 3rd party support after they all realize that only the actual fresh brand new original titles,  are sellin that support will drop like a tank, when the real next gen arrives but hey if you love nintendo suck it! I hope your happy together when your beloved 1st party titles hit along with there half-arsed approach to online gaming... good day

SavageEvil 98 pts

Tviper7 What you so mad about? Like seriously did Nintendo father you and left your mom or something? You sound like a woman scorned or something, that time of the month?

You don't know much about anything, Nintendo has from history always released their big games at least 2-3 at launch from 1st party.  If you heeded to check the launch list, see that Nintendo has how many big 1st party games in there? Correct, pretty much ZERO!

Reality check, 3rd party games are prominent on the Wii U launch list. Why would 3rd party support drop in your magically whimsical depiction of things? Because of online? Last time I checked online play isn't a requisite for a game being great, gameplay is!  Half arsed approach to online gaming? Wow, who said that Nintendo has no online, what you only like to parrot things you heard somewhere else? Not sure if you can read but if you have to use an Origin account to play EA games then obviously there is online component made just to play online.  Angry people just like to say things for impact but have zero substance to actually back up their outbursts.

Since I don't think you can comprehend much, I did say that I have a Wii along with a PS3 and 360 all on the same entertainment hub and all get used. Don't type angry dude, makes it easy to pick apart what you say :). Good debating with you though.

Tviper7 Every fans of whatever console will keep saying "this and that", and then the internet proves enough that I get ignorant users on my desk through my monitor. Get a grip, Tviper7. I can get all three consoles. They're nothing, but toys for the big boys. Jesus...
