GTA: Vice City coming to iOS, Android
In conjunction with game's tenth anniversary, Rockstar releasing "Anniversary Edition" of 2002 PS2 game for select iOS and Android devices this fall.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City turns ten years old this month, and to celebrate, Rockstar Games will release an "Anniversary Edition" of the game for select iOS and Android devices this fall.
According to Rockstar, GTA: Vice City for mobiles will contain the "full experience" found in the original PlayStation 2 title.
It will feature high-resolution graphics and "several" enhancements unique to the iOS and Android platforms. These were not specified.
More information on GTA: Vice City for iOS and Android, including a list of compatible devices, will be announced in the coming weeks.
GTA: Vice City is the third ten-year-old Rockstar game to be made available for mobile devices. It follows Grand Theft Auto III and Max Payne, both of which went mobile last year.
Easily my favorite one and the peak of the GTA games(I liked San Andreas but Tommy Vercetti > CJ). Gonna have to wait to get this after I get my new phone in January though as I'm sure I'll be playing the hell out of it.
Ps vita release would be nice. It would have better controls over ios and android.
Great idea, but like GTA III, the controls will be horrible. These really need to be released on PSN/Xbox Live/Steam etc. with the original control system.
why not the 3ds and vita damn lazy rockstar
mariokart64fan The Vita certainly could run a game like this, though I'm guessing Sony wants R* to do an exclusive Vita GTA and they don't want a re-release like this to draw sales away from a new title.
Not sure about 3DS though, in terms of RAM and processing power the 3DS is a lot weaker than the PS2, whereas iDevices and high-end Android phones/tablets are many times more powerful.
the worst part of remake to android is the control,I played duke nukem remake and max payne,I think it's hard to bring 3d shooter game like it was when released
croserII Agreed. I have GTA3 for my Galaxy Tab and the controls suck. I don't know why they are porting a game designed for a console to a tablet. Oh wait, money...A tablet game should be designed from the ground up to fully take advantage of its features.
Eezyville croserII If your Android device has Bluetooth, it's possible to use a PS3 controller with it, though I'm not sure which games support it. Haven't messed around with it much, just found out you could do it lower down in this thread
Spartan_418 Eezyville croserII
croserIInot all games support controller via blutooth,I hope they consider wirles\blutooth controller in any remake and updat or patch the current one so it support it
I'll definitely be buying this. Vice City is by far my favorite GTA game. The soundtrack is one of the best ever.
so why not the Vita?? port this stuff to the Vita show us a little love here COME ON!!!
I'm not a big fan of mobile gaming, but regardless, it's pretty damn cool to say you can play Vice City on your cell phone. Ten years ago you probably would have been laughed at yet here we are.
Vice City was the best story. Man did I love playing that game.
so this means GTA: San Andreas will come out in 2014 because then it will have its own 10 year anniversary makes sense.
thuglife69 Yeah, and better for Vita/3DS.
GTA: Vice City for iOS and androids? Why this? What's so wrong about making a GTA: Vice City & San Andreas HD Collection for PS3 or even the Vita? I don't want to play this butcher port on a butcher device.
leeko_link
ell, if sony had kept the backwards compatibility that the first 60GB model had, you could just play your PS2 games on ur ps3.
but who cares...a new GTA will arrive in just a few months.. ;)
sounds great
Best Grand Theft Auto title from the last console generation.
Did Rockstar added any new gameplay features? I went back to GTA III about a year ago, and man, the thing that I was surprised that the game didn't have was a in-game map. I knew that stuff like the way-point feature wasn't available until Saints Row, but the lack of a in-game map made me question on how the hell did I ever make it through that game back in 2001? I was wondering if RockStar included the in-game map and the way-point in the re-release.
Strider8009 GTA 3 no in-game map? It had a minimap and also a big map, selectable from the menu. Which is also the case for GTA 3 10 Year Anniversary(Android, iOS), you just have to tap the minimap. Zoomable and scrollable.
This is GREAT news.
Strider8009 blows my mind how you can miss not only a minimap but a giant map in the pause screen lol
I love this game with passion
The controls will probably suck on the iOS version, just saying.
tmacman The controls on the GTA3 remake wasn't bad. Weren't perfect, but weren't far off.
This would be great with an IOS controller.
tmacman Not remake, meant IOS port.
Why cant sony put this games on my vita
cloudtyper Agreed; I'd like to see Sony make it possible to play the PS2 Classics line on Vita -- then upload this and Dark Cloud 2.
cloudtyper the only option for the Vita right now is Liberty City Stories or Vice City Stories... but I guess you already knew that
The Fame Game of my childhood.....Happy old times. Now it will be in my pocket.
Took them long enough. Up next, San Andreas.
Really enjoy GTA 3 on my iPhone/iPad. Very excited for Vice City. I hope they added support for the iPhone 5's screen.
i can't forget vice city ever...
Vice city I love youu
Awesome. If they pit San Andreas - with its HUGE map - on there, I'll be really impressed.
Ah The helicopter mission brings back a lot of memory
MetaMods I couldn't stand them. I hate those parts for like ever..
gta can't be played without a controller or its blasphemy
Maybe I'll get to finish it this time. :D
It's about time for Vice City to be re-released, but it's too bad we have to play it with those horrible tablet controls which make the already difficult-to-drive cars even more difficult-to-drive. I'm hoping when the Ouya debuts they can make it compatible, or maybe add support for some of these gaming controllers.
Yes! Vice City is one of my favorite games ever, and since I do have an iPhone... I might as well.
Great game but by modern standards the controls are horrible on a pad I dread to think what it will be like on a touch screen. I do want more real games for touch devices but the control schemes of ports are usually horrible. I would say The World Ends With You is the exception and I was really enjoying it right up to the point it gave me a minor attack of RSI.
OMG! I have been praying for this day since gta3 was ported to smartphones! Thank you to the gaming gods!!!
I just did a web search on this and it said it will be released on October 29th! I'm assuming they mean this year. Here's a link:

It's about time!!!! Can we finally get a HD remake of all 3 for the home consoles? Are you listening Rockstar?
*drives a huge ass truck with gigantic speakers on the back to rockstar offices * DO THE FIRST 3 GTAs IN HD FOR PC AND CONSOLES *gets arrested for raping the office building staff ears
I have GTA 3 on an asus transformer, the game is cool and its relatively cheap (it was in promo at 3-4$ the first week) , but it just isn't a mobile game, the controls are awfull and everything. It's still gta and epic but it's really not something you want to play without a controller.
my fav GTA, can't wait to play it again on my galaxy s3
s4dn3s5 you should do this then my friend : )
This Fall ? As in this autumn ? Hello it's winter already in a few days. They must mean NEXT fall.
