Xbox 360 dashboard update available to everybody now

Get hold of Internet Explorer, pinning, Xbox Music, the good stuff

Microsoft has announced that the latest Xbox 360 dashboard update is rolling out to all Xbox Live users now, following a staggered release over the past week.

"I hear that the Xbox LIVE dashboard update should be going live now for all, enjoy!" tweeted Xbox EMEA social marketing manager Graeme Boyd. Let us know how you get on with it.

As to why some Xbox Live subscribers got the update in advance, Boyd added that "it was based on a number of factors including location, ISP, bandwidth etc. It was a stress test, basically." Don't worry, Microsoft loves you all equally.

Here are the 10 key improvements introduced by the new Xbox 360 dashboard. There's more excitement to come on Friday, when Microsoft releases Xbox SmartGlass.

Busy times.

  1. Downloading now. *grumble*

EDIT: Hey, this is actually pretty good. It doesn't look so badly upscaled anymore. :D

  2. Finally haha. Was worried that they'd forgotten me. Quite looking forward to SmartGlass.

I have to say dude, i think that's the first compliment i've seen you give haha

  4. Might only be a minor update but I really like it. The Pinning idea is essentially Quick Play though so that hasn't added much.

Hey, I'm not that miserable!

I think this is the first dash update that has been a real improvement. It looks much better, there's more tiles on each page making the ads seem less intrusive, weird recommendations to laugh at, not taking two minutes to load the list of apps after I exit one, and I can actually see myself using Internet Explorer unlike the atrocious Wii browser. Everything seems to work like it should rather than taking forever and showing swirly circles for minutes at a time.

  6. Wow. Im actuallly writing this on my xbox via the internet explorer app and to be honest its kind unsettling in a exciting way. Its kinda funny that the link for oxm website comes up with a warning about certificate authenticity.

  7. Well im gonna be negative.....i dont like it....the internet explorer is a good idea the rest is abit meh! I know microsoft want to integrate the xbox into everything but i just wanna play games!

  8. Great idea, love it.

Much easier to use and see everything i need.

  9. weird recommendations to laugh at

Hah, i presume then that it's not just me that's having pretty much every game i already own recommended? :D I felt like it was trying to guilt trip me into playing some of the backlog rather than buy anything new!!

Hmm, i still kinda get this, but only on startup and on returning to the dashboard, it's about 40 seconds on startup which seems a stupidly long time but unsure if it's just teething so i won't throw my toys just yet, otherwise it's a thumbs up from me but i wasn't too unhappy with the previous one if im honest.

  10. Well now I can't get on live because of an apparent hardware error, which hasn't stopped me updating before. Microsoft's advice.. Buy a new xbox.

  11. also writing this on xbox. its not taking hours, honestly. like it though so far

  12. will internet explorer be available for sliver members or just for gold members
