Crysis 3 preorders get original Crysis

Free digital copy of 2007 shooter included for those who reserve Crytek's new game; all preorders upgraded to Hunter Edition.

Crytek is looking to its past for a preorder bonus for next year's Crysis 3. Publisher Electronic Arts announced today that those who reserve Crysis 3 will receive a code to download a free digital version of the 2007 original Crysis.

Gamers who preorder Crysis 3 for Xbox 360 will receive a code to download the Xbox Live Arcade version of Crysis, with PlayStation 3 players receiving the PlayStation Network iteration, and PC gamers getting a code to download the game through Origin.

Crysis currently retails for $20 on Xbox Live, PSN, and Origin.

Players who preorder Crysis 3 will not only receive the original Crysis, but will also be upgraded to the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition. This upgrade gives players day-one access to the game's new Predator bow weapon, as well as the Hunter Nanosuit module.

Crysis 3 is due February 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

Retarded. I already have it on live. Oh wait...maybe I can sell it

If you haven;t tried it go back and play he Crysis original game with todays High end Video cards that push the FPS to heavenly highs at max setting that make the game play and look the way it was intended. The newer games for pc & console clones look like crap, the original Crysis ( Even the original Far Cry looks great ) has no console codes to screw around with the graphic's and looks so much better than the newer crysis 2. I'm so Tired of the cookie cuting games they maken to please the player ( which dosen't take much to do it seems ) with the way out dated console hardware..

SDBusDriver1979 203 pts

Download code through Origin, nope. I'm going to avoid that service as long as possible. Sorry Crytek but I will not be buying your game this time around even after enjoying Crysis 2 a lot more than I should have.

Sokol4ever 43 pts

I already own original Crysis but putting down 5$ as a pre-order won't hurt me in any way.

The bow does look fun to use.

Forgot about Crysis, then I thought I should see if it's worth getting.... Then I remembered it has an EA logo on it and that origins will be involved, then I didn't care about Crysis anymore.

SHARKMEAT 12 pts

 ---Cipher---

The original is PC only game EA only sold it no input to change code for console to screw up the game...looks awesome with thenew hgh end cards as I stated above...CHEERS

SingletreeAve 183 pts

Crysis 3 may be the last game EA releases with single player.  I might pick it to keep as a memento of the golden age of gaming, before it was ruined by free-to-play, micro-transaction, online-only drivel.  Or maybe that golden age is already gone.

SHARKMEAT 12 pts

Hell with any game with console tied to it.....CHEERS

couly 49 pts

So they're giving away a free game that looks better than the one we have to buy.

No joke there it's a true statment and a well payed game even if it is old, but better than the cookie cutters they putting out.

Sardinar 461 pts

At least Crysis was beautiful and somewhat original .

Crysis 3 is your typical FPS milking of the first.

usmanghani321 27 pts

In my books crysis 1 is still most beautiful game in current generation .eventually still at top in terms of grafix

ZOD777 632 pts

usmanghani321 Mmm...I would disagree with that.  Sure it still looks great, but without mods, it doesn't look better than Batman:AC, Metro 2033, and a couple others.  Even Warhead looks better.  Crysis 2 with tesselation and DX11 textures looks better too IMO.  Crysis has a bit of a grainy texture on vegitation and the ground as compared to some modern games.

SHARKMEAT 12 pts

 ZOD777  usmanghani321

Was War Head based on a console code at any time ??.

PS: I don't know where you seeing the grainy texture maybe a lcd going bad. Still look smooth on my computer, and the water looks as though you are standing in it.

PSYCHOV3N0M 114 pts

usmanghani321 Top? Battlefield 3 on PC is king of graphics right now imo

PStrife 50 pts

Really.  EA has months beforehand, yet they somehow can't just put it on the disc?  They have months, use it.  No need for this digital distribution crap in order to bloat Origin's membership numbers.  We all know they want to bloat that number.

squidshoggoth 48 pts

ohh crytek, i hate to break it to you, but...the 1st crysis wasn't that good.

Gater29 59 pts

Wait, wait. Is the predator bow the one in all the trailers? This seems to imply that unless I spend extra for the special edition (I don't pre-order games. Too many times I've done this thinking there is no way a dev could mess up a series I've enjoyed, and been sorely disappointed. I'll wait for the reviews), I won't have access to that bow right away. If that's true... EA... just die...

kiramasaki 226 pts

I know this a subtle way to combat used games, but is it really so hard to put the game on disc. A digital code. The only reason I havent picked up an anthology version of RE 6 despite it being crap is because re 1-5 that come with it are downloads only. I have no problem dropping 90 if I get all 5 on a disc, I wont drop a dime on it if its dlc.

That would be a personal choice, most people I know these days prefer their games as download.  If you're still playing PC games these days, digital is becoming the primary method and even for consoles it is trending in that direction, in the next 20 years it is very likely brick and mortar gaming stores will go the way of Blockbuster.

Speaking as someone who probably buys more games than the average person, I haven't actually been to a gaming store in probably a year.  Unless I absolutely can't get the game on PC and if I get it for PC it's always digital.  The convenience of not having to leave my home can't be beat, especially with the odd work schedule I have.

Obviously if you live in an area where good broadband isn't accessible your feelings on the whole digital thing could be taitned.  That aside though the requirement of a disc to me is just a bother.  Having to keep track of it, swap it out when you want to play different games.  With my steam library I have access to my games i one location and you can log in and download them anywhere.

Only problem with this deal is...it requires origin :(

I bought Crysis back when it came out, and it doesn't require a disc to play, just add it as a non-steam game and I can replay it.

On another noted, I wouldnt mind seeing EA post losses for the next few quarters. Hopefully then they will release that the PC gaming community won't stick up for being forced into 1 digital platform. The sole reason I prefer steam is for the amazing deals and simple experience...way too much hassle trying to play BF3.

tencu_x 5 pts

I remembered playing Crysis 1 MP for such a long time, flying VTOL and using stealth to do recon or snipe at any unsuspecting prey wandering around in an area waiting for their tank be built, TAC tanks, etc. Although eventually I stopped due to hackers slowly becoming awfully common.

Then I tried crysis 2, got bored of it real fast. Felt like a different game especially in MP where from a large scale battle of an area with vehicles to commandeer and fun things to do like freezing things to their death and to see it changed into a confined TDM style maps with simple game modes and gimmicky customisation options which basically made it seem to become another futuristic shooter console game probably modeled with COD in mind in terms of gameplay rather than the fun game Crysis 1 was. Suffice to say, I was severely disappointed.

So, I'm glad they're giving pre-orders Crysis 1. I hope more people get to try out Crysis 1 gameplay in both SP and MP and see why people say its a step back for Crysis.

Good deal for those who don't have the original. I bought it off Steam on the summer sale for 2.99 :)

yoda101280 86 pts

This is kind of a crappy pre-order bonus to be quite honest.  I mean if you intend to get Crysis 3 it's most likely b/c you're a fan of the franchise and Crysis one has had so many sales and promotions if you ever wanted to play that game it's highly likely you would have it by now.  Honestly if you couldn't have gotten it for free by now you certainly could have probably gotten it on a steam sale for 5 or 10 dollars.  I can't think there are too many people who would consider this a useful pre-order.

rezarazor 18 pts

they should recommend playing 1 after 3

cause the best one was and will be crysis 1

jhonMalcovich 469 pts

I will not preorder anything. I will wait for a deal and get Crysis 3 from 30 bucks and Crisis 1 for 3.49.

In total, 33.49 vs 60$. LOL.

Benifited 117 pts

good deal crysis 1 is a great game that everyone should get their hands on

Krauklis 74 pts

I never played Crysis 1 so when Crysis 3 gets a little closer to release I will Pre-order it.

chimpdaddy 62 pts

on the UK origin site its showing the digital deluxe edition, has all 3 games included!!!!!! the first one was pure class, and for me not just a tech demo, really enjoyed it, crysis 2 i suppose is my dirty little secret, it was a step back but i still quite like it.

sortajan 356 pts

ain't gonna happen. not with anything published by EA.

flammable_zeus 128 pts

I really hope this means they're looking more to Crysis than Crysis 2 for inspiration. I hope they don't dumb this one down so much (or at all would be nice.)

darkasylum 96 pts

What a great way to show fans how the series devolved.

Ledah 39 pts

Crysis 1 was amazing, and even if Crysis 2 is considered subpar to the franchise I'd like to play Crysis 3, and hope Crytek did this one right.

demonkingx5 281 pts

they better learn from that law suit about bf1943 free with pre orders of BF3 i have not forgotten about that

mav_destroyer 507 pts

They lost me at Origin, but I guess it's EA, what was I expecting? Still this is a good deal for those who didn't play Crysis 1, I wish more studios would do pre-orders like that.

gamingfrendly 519 pts

who thinks crysis 1 might end up better than crysis 3 too?

guitarist1980 26 pts

I still like to fire up the original Crysis from time to time. Still probably the best looking shooter ever made. Or right up there and it was released in 07"

mhkguy 18 pts

well, for the first time I saw a gaming corporation like EA rewarding a very good incentive for Pre-ordering, other rewards are just crappy map packs, costumes and weapons but they are offering a whole game which is more cooler then its successors wow now I am seriously considering Pre-order this game, My crysis 1 disc is badly damaged thats why and I loved it alot :S............now its something a valid and sufficient consideration

Whole-Lotta 155 pts

Crysis is a good example why we need a exclusive games.Crysis 1 was a great game on PC with awesome graphics but when they made it multiplatform every thing became shit.

Psycold 533 pts

Whole-Lotta There was huge potential with the CryEngine 3 and most of it has been squandered. Anyone remember the old tech videos showing huge skyscrapers with procedural damage? All of that a capability neglected due to old hardware on consoles.

Kooken58 13 pts

Whole-Lotta Not only were the graphics subpar, but as were the physics and just the game maps themselves.  Everything was linear, the reason why I loved crysis so Much was because it was a sandbox shooter.  Pretty much everything went backwards with the sequel. Sad to see games with such potential go backwards due to it having released on the consoles.
