Chris Watters reunites with Master Chief and Cortana in this video review for Halo 4.
FINE AND GREAT.
I'm willing to bet in 2013 they will have Halo 2 remastered, with a multiplayer disk that has all of the "map-packs" for Halo 4 on it. Just the same way ODST did for Halo 3, and Halo CE for Reach. Maybe 2014 but the next X-Box might be out by than.
NicholasT33 which year?
Yummy.
Why not double XP in every apple you buy?
Mountain Dew double xp? I can see America's obesity issues aren't getting any brighter.
Games like this will always have big rating.
Oh how I wish I still had my xbox right now. I loved Halo 3.
I knew I should had stolen that guy Xbox when I was in college, seriously had a perfect opportunity, but since that was 6 years ago my Xbox probably would die from the infamous red ring of death lmao
I really want to play this game but don't have an Xbox who wanna lend me one?
wut..... review already....
jessie82 giantbomb and some other had reviews up yesterday.
Cant WAIT !
BlackTempler100 Yeah game looks siiiiicccccccckkkkk!!!
Great review!!
loadouts! Oh dear, oh very dear.
britflik I wouldn't be too concerned seeing as they're allowing us to tweak matches to our own liking if we choose to. I'm sure there's an option to completely block out loadouts. All in all, the game looks like a very good addition to the Halo series. Unlike that dreaded news of Disney's acquisition of Lucas Films.
I still don't like the animations of the prometheans, and I was expecting more from the Spartan Ops, but at least I'm glad they did good overall.
Load outs... Seriously
I literally said "Aww man. That's disgusting"
Linkbest23 theyre a slight variation to the classes from Reach, so not very different. And the armor choices are more balanced.
Looks real good!
I am so glad this turned out well :D I was kinda sceptic but if the campaign is as awesome as promised and the MP tight than this is a must buy this year for Xbox owners.
I have a habit of ignoring most pre-release details on games, especially if I'm already fairly confident it's going to be good. I guess you could say I like to be surprised. Anyway, I'm really glad I did that with this game because it looks absolutely incredible. My expectations were pretty mediocre, but I was open to the possibility that 343 might amaze me, and they have. I haven't bought a Halo game since H3, and thought I might skip this one too but NO chance of that now. I hesitate to use the word perfect, but I can't imagine a better outcome for a such a huge series that swapped hands. It looks like 343 really made it their own, without taking anything away from the history of the series. My favorite part is that it looks much less like an all ages game, more brutal and gritty, and I love it. Hats off to 343, immense gratitude and respect for a job well done.
The art style is the reason for me to buy a xbox and this game, but i am pretty sure i will have fun with the other halos too. I Never wanted that loud fat xbox and only interested since the slim modell, the best time to buy a xbox. I only played the first halo on the PC and thought its a real lame shooter, but playin halo with gamepad really makes a lot of fun, much more then without.
F**k I still haven't finished Reach.
frazzz619 lol. NBD as long as you finished Halo 3. Reach ends right where Halo 1 begins. It's quite nostalgic actually.
i never buy my games new, but im actually considering dropping 60 bucks on this
aw aw awesome.
Man do I wish this was third person...
Keivz_basic It is sometimes, at least it was in Reach.
looks awesome..not a fan but i might be.
Have never been a fan of Halo, but this is making me change my mind about buying this game.
It will have to wait because I still has to replace my dead 360. Seems like shody fabrication standards still affect your game sales huh MS?
Anyone knows how long the campaign is? No review mention it.
santinegrete He said 8-10 hours
Game of the year is definitely Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward for me. Nothing in 2012 can beat that, not even Halo 4, Farcry 3, Assassins Creed 3 and Hitman Absolution, even though I anticipated these games to be great and will play them, but not as much as Zero Escape.
Though I must say out of all the FPS out there, this is in 1st place. Don't buy Warfighter, 007 Legends and Black Ops 2. It's the same old shit! And Dishonored is pretty much an overrated game. You will feel that the game lacks something and is not as great as the critics said it was.
Kaz32 I don't really see how you can compare zero escape to any of the games you mentioned. I mean, maybe MAYBE Assassin's Creed but other than that it's like comparing a sports game to a shooter. The same standards don't apply.
Slade968 For a handheld puzzle game, it has an amazing story and 24 endings that encourages multiple re playability. Those other games are great but their story is not as engaging. They are great for action and killings. I haven't even play Zero Escape yet because I'm in Australia and I am DYING to play it. I suggest you play 999, the prequel of Zero Escape on DS. You will see what I mean.
Kaz32 Slade968 So you haven't even PLAYED the game and it's already your game of the year? Man, publishers eat people like you up.
I'm not saying it's a bad game, and I'm not saying you aren't going to like it, but at least play it first.
Slade968 Just look at the metacritic score. http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-vita/zero-escape-virtues-last-reward/critic-reviews
None of them have anything bad to say. It just makes me want to throw my money to my computer to get it!
Kaz32 Slade968 You, my good sir, are on the wrong page.
This Halo 4 review had a prelude of a Mountain Dew commercial about Halo 4 screaming about double XP under the cap, making multiplayer all the less appealing and all the more a commercial money grab... I find Halo 4 pulls up a lot of the same feelings Halo 3 did: forced plot on a wispy plot foundation, living off of what once was ground breaking combat now imitated by way too many shooters. I appreciate what 343 Industries tried at here, but they blew a chance to completely redefine the series with new game mechanics and get away from familiar repetitions. Putting a little CoD in your Halo was just a safe move, not a bold one at all (moneymoneymoney). Despite that, I'd bet the game would have sold well, no matter what they changed, just because of the name. This would have been a great chance to actually reinvent things rather than maintain the familiar. I mean, heaven forbid that Master Chief was captured in Halo 4, removed from his power armor, and had to occupy a modified forerunner suit for the duration of the game. That would have opened up some new possibilities, for sure. New ways to play. New mechanics. All sorts of combat design that would have been interesting. No, no, no... that's just crazy talk. Let's just maintain the idea that this guy is in a suit that can fall out of the sky like a meteor and survive.
GreySeven You haven't even played the game yet...
GreySeven
Okay, I don't even know where to begin. Let's start with Master Chief in a Forerunner "suit". You're joking right? A Spartans armor does not define that Spartan, but it certainly identifies that Spartan. Besides the fact that that's generally a horrible idea, it's almost blasphemous to think of a Spartan in anything else besides his/her Mjolnir armor. Question ... if they captured Chief, why wouldn't they just kill him? And if they kept him alive why would they "remove him from his power armor", which by the way can't just be disassembled by hand. Next - reinventing the series? What exactly were you expecting? From what I can tell, they've made several changes to the gameplay and story structure, not even including what you call "putting a little COD" into the multiplayer. Any other major changes or "reinventions" would be not only a serious departure from the series, but a serious departure from all of the cannon and lore surrounding the Halo universe - a choice that would likely alienate former fans. Fans who I might add are the people responsible for ensuring 343 employees still have jobs and Microsoft's investment partners are happy - remember, while this is for your entertainment, it's also an intellectual property that is used to generate revenue. Lastly, like many self entitled and opinionated gamers do (or any consumer for that matter) - you write the product off before even trying it for yourself. God I hate that. There's stuff that I look at and I'm like "Ugh, that looks terrible" but I'll still try it first. Example, Resident Evil 6. Game looked like it sucked, but I tried it ... and found out it actually sucked! Do the same with Halo 4 and every other game ... or not, do what you want - just realize you sound like someone who has no idea what they're talking about ... and that's putting it politely.
ooblah Oh, I'll play it, I never said I wouldn't. But, hey, maybe you're right about this game. Now, please put me straight by first explaining to me how Master Chief, in his GLORIOUS power armor, fell out sky and survived but can't take the impact of some purple crystals from a needler. Then reassure me that regenerating health is not the most main stream imitated 11 year old shooter mechanic and how a new challenge would really rock the world of people who were sold on the title right after they read the name "Halo 4". There's a large fan base of people that buy Madden every single year with micro-improvements. And If you're saying that Resident Evil was as terrible as it looked after you judged it so and then tried it, how can you go ahead and say anything at all to negate my comment?
GreySeven ooblah I believe his RE6 example was to show how he was openminded. It's pretty rare for a game that appears terrible to then prove itself otherwise when you play it. Halo 4, however looks awesome. In regards to your criticism about Chief's armour, in Reach Noble 6 falls from the low-orbit and uses the spartan armour-lock ability to survive the terminal velocity impact. That's an ability that can protect the Spartan from anything for a limited burst. I felt that was a clever implementation of a gameplay mechanic as a story device, and it was brutal and realistic that Six limped away from the impact, and sure, that impact would have still killed a normal human, but Spartans are genetically engineered superhumans. While I'm all for sci-fi being grounded partly in reality, sometimes you have to suspend your disbelief and just enjoy the fiction.
I just wanna know how the Master CHief got a Jetpack O.o
Not a Halo fan, but I have to admit, this is a visually compelling game. Great job with it!
I'll get around to playing it, but nothing I saw is making me go OMG MUST PLAY NOW! I will say, I hope the next Halo has a longer campaign. 8-10 is a bit short... I miss the days when games focused on single player content and not multiplayer.
JustPlainLucas 8-10 hours is actually a fairly long FPS campaign...just sayin. but i do agree that games should focus more on single player, but Halo needs the multiplayer too.
JustPlainLucas
8-10 hour on Normal, sure. 8-10 hour campaign on Legendary? Probably not.
ooblah JustPlainLucas It would be 20-30 hours on Legendary. (on single player anyway)
