Default The psychic Cat

A cat with an uncanny ability to detect when nursing home patients are about to die has proven itself in around 50 cases by curling up with them in their final hours, according to a new book.

Maybe this is Schrodinger's cat in reverse.

IDk my cats sleep on people when they are sick... even if they just have a cold. My old cat Miss Tilly woke me up one morning at 5 AM screaming... she was litterally screaming like a woman in pain. I'd never heard her make that sound before. I got up to find that my 5 year old child had suddenly gotten croup in the night and could barely breath, much less cry. I'd just checked on her at 3 AM and she was OK, so I probably would not have checked on her again for several hours. Miss Tilly was standing in the child's room, when I got up, but she quickly jumped up and down on the child's chest like she was trying to do some kind of kitty CPR. Though she may have just been trying to get my attention directed towards my daughter. I was able to take care of my daughter and loosen up her breath with steam from the shower, and meds, then I took her to the doctor, but the cat saved her life by screaming like that.

Miss Tilly, and my current cat Miss Molly also, tend to take shifts with me watching the house. They lay down with my husband, till I come to bed, but when I go to sleep, they trade places with me. They walk the floors of the house, checking on the children, then periodically Miss Molly will sit in my chair, and just seem watchful. Sometimes if I stay up later than 3 AM Molly will come and meow at me, till I go to bed. She seems to be telling me that it is shift change. When I go to bed, she sits in my chair.

Miss Tilly always knew when we were going to have visitors. She'd always walk to the door 10 or 15 minutes before they arrived. She had a different walk for each one of my friends, so I always knew who was coming, and she had a special walk for strange man, or strange woman also. She never missed it, whether the guests came on foot, by car, or by bicycle. Strange man was the most ominous walk. She'd slink down very low, and her hair would stand up on her back. She'd growl too. In general if the guest was male, she walked very stiffly, and slink to the door, crouching lower. The more she liked the guy though, the less stiff she'd walk, the faster she'd go to the door, and the higher she stood up. She was more bouncy with females coming to visit... and the more she liked them the more quick, and bouncy she walked. It did not take me long to learn her gestures well enough to know exactly who was coming to visit.
