i think that this is cool of them to do this, cause unless u have money to buy all the game in the series this is ur best option to get up to date on the series. have said that i personally  think  is a better experience to play all of the game

Here comes a history lesson :S.

Info about assassins if you like, the word assassin was taken from the word "Hashashin" and they've been called that because they were known for taking " Hashish" which is a kind of illegal drugs ,and they used it in their trades and all to fund they're operations, that what gave them that name, they started in north of Persia (Iran now), they used violence and assassination and intimidation for fulfillment of there economical authoritarian needs, they're leader Al Hasan son of Sabah used to order to assassinate anyone who stands in his way, he is the founder and owner of The castle of death or Qala'at Al Moot, Marco polo says about him that he ordered his followers " to assassinate whom the "sheikh" ( greybeard, elder etc. ) of the mountain wants from his enemies, and their reward for that is the heaven of eternity... which made people fear him ", the group has ended on the hands of Salah Al Diin and other say by Al Thaher Pebres it might ended by the both of them, they've used to kill crusaders sometimes only to cover up on their main targets from Ayoubi and Seljuks muslims and other muslims who aren't from there creed which is Shia'a , and in arabia it said to believe that they are coming back but in another name, some Shia'a have a group called "Hizb Alla" who they are working with Iran ( the home of Hashashins) wih ahmdi nijad, they are doing the same thing they are going against Israel ( let's say they are the crusaders) to cover up on there main targets of arabian muslim leaders, and they are using drugs too to fund their operations, New york Times wrote an article about that after i has been discover a drug smuggling network in the US and around the world that follows Iran, and Arabians discovered the same thing, so that is a thing to worry about.

but anyways these are very few info i know about them. and sorry for all of that lol :P i just love to share my knowledge with people .

anyways have a lovely day gentlewoman and gentlemen :).... :I

sgt_F79 An interesting addition to that, while Hasan ibn As-Sabah had started the group to "protect" the Shia'a Muslims (Seljuks were pretty much killing them off at that point), by the time the first Assassin's Creed took place they were already more of a political group rather than religious. Their leader around then was known as "the old man of the mountain", and he was actually trying to form an alliance with the crusaders saying that his people would convert to Christianity. To show the faith of his followers, he ordered two of them to leap from the top of a tower... something that was clearly used as a key element in the Assassin's Creed series.

The other thing I find amusing is that they were started as a group to oppose the Seljuks. But by the time we get to Revelations, we have Seljuk assassins.

sgt_F79 46 pts

Jan_Meja_Heir He started the group to make all muslims "shia'a" and  like i said for economical and authoritarian needs to, it is a a religious far more than a political group .

Oh wait are you talking reality wise or "game" wise?? im confused :P , because in the game Al Hasan son of Sabah does not appear.

im gonna assume that you are talking about the game it self :P, but in real i have heard that his followers would do such sacrifices for the " sheikh" of the mountain like you said to show faith, and because they believe that the " sheikh" of the mountain would reward them with heaven by giving them a piece of paper that they believe and shia'a till this day believe that it would grant them access to heaven when they die.

anyways thx for the addition bro/sis idk :I.

sgt_F79 I'm talking about the actual Assassins group. While the amount of focus on keeping Muslims on the Shia'a path would always be dependent on the leader at that particular time, they did stray very far from that focus and, as I was saying, were at times willing to give up their faith entirely to insure their survival in a more political fashion.

Another aspect of the actual group that I thought was interesting in how it influenced the first game was, like you mention, them doing everything with the clear intention that the end result is their death. Assassinations were generally done in public with small weapons so as to insure that the assassin would also be killed after they hit their target. Obviously it would have made for a much different game if your character got killed after the first assassination, but the idea was there of it being done in public right in the middle of things.

The first game also made mention of Salah ad-Din, who is interesting relative to the assassins because they made several attempts on his life. If memory serves, I believe he actually marched on Masyaf and they eventually ended in a truce. The crusades would have ended quite a bit different had they ever succeeded, as he was the leader that managed to drive the crusaders back until all they claimed was Acre. Not that that lasted long after his death though, but it was the last time the crusaders ever had a strong grasp on the holy land.

#2 was the best one. Brotherhood was crap and Revelations was alright. Now #3 looks to be the best game ever.

I LOVE that you're doing this, I've played through the games multiple times each but I still love these video's. My only request/recommendation is that maybe you end the Desmond parts on the 29th so that way we don't start playing the game before we see all of the Desmond stuff

Sushiglutton 66 pts

Thanks GS for doing this! I have watched all ten episodes and looking forward to the next 14. AC is a wonderful series, even more so then I remembered. Hopefully AC3 will fix some of the gameplay problems that has held the series back a little (like the combat for example), so GS can finally hand out the 10 this franchise deseves :)!

You really needed multiple parts to recap this story? I'll give you the TL;DR version...

****Spoilers****

AC1: Interesting sci-fi concepts, interesting anti-hero, amazing thought provoking ending.

AC2: Desmond learned some skills. Solar flare, blah blah.

Brotherhood: Nothing happened, then Lucy got stabbed.

Revelations: Nothing happened.

****Prediction****

AC3: Connor stabs some Brits. Desmond sits in a chair.

There is one thing, Assassins or "Hashashins" are a muslim creed it's like catholic and so, they are Shia'a who moved to Persia...so an Italian Christian assassin hmmm...a native american assassin hmmm.

i think Ubisoft didn't know that, the game should have stick with Altair or any Arabian or Persian muslim character,i think ubisoft should have dig more into the Hashashins history, 'cause this actually a big mistake, don't get me wrong im not against the game or anything i actually LOVE IT!!, but im just saying since Ubisoft says it's historically accurate.

P.S : if anyone saw my comment annoying to him or anything im sorry then im just saying :/ have a lovely day gentlemen :)

face_ripper 38 pts

sgt_F79 its not annoying dw :D

Bumblebee1138 194 pts

Assassins were indeed a muslim creed. BUT after thier enemy and thier true intentions were revealed they understood that if thier enemy have thier fingers on every country in shadows, so should Assassins. So instead of staying as just small group (with everyone knowing where they live) they spread across the world to send the message of coming evil and became a large secret organization so in the name of freedome, they can take the battle to Templars.

(*Insert epic music*)

sgt_F79 46 pts

Bumblebee1138 Ummm i don't know if you're being serious or just kidding :P, but if you are serious, assassins ended ages ago by the Abbasid empire between the last years of the empire and the beginning of the ottomans, again i still don't know if you're kidding or not :P

Bumblebee1138 194 pts

I am serious.....well most of the times. :P Anyway if you're talking reality wise there's no such thing as Assassin-Templar war. Ubisoft just make a fictional story based on the history for people to enjoy. Nothing more. If you're saying story-wise, since Assassins spread across the world, the 'official' history say the creed ended. But it didn't. They are hiding among us and fighting their secret war against the people who don't understand that freedome is right of all sentient biengs.

sgt_F79 46 pts

Bumblebee1138 Well there is a thing called Assassins against Templars and crusaders assassins fought for islam back then  but that was more than 600-800 years ago during the Abbasid time, but now there is no such thing it's over, but i do like the story of the game even so it's not "historically accurate" ( btw im sorry for saying that sentence  in every comment xD :P ) anyways thx dude, haaaaave a lovely day sir :D

sgt_F79 46 pts

 Bumblebee1138 And p.s: i was talking reality wise :P

Are you gonna argue realism when right of the bat you have Templars/ Abstergo playing the part of world domination and new world order implementation common in conspiracy lore. No one can argue that the Templars werent real, but not in the way shown in these games. The developers in this case take two well known organizations in historical times and tries to build a story leading up to present time. I think the accuaracy they are trying to agrue is the treatment of the times the games are based on; clothes worn, common customs, historical landmarks and figures, etc as well as an objective point of view. Still, no film, book, or video game for that matter can really argue true realism in accordance to the times its trying to portray, but they try to show an impression of what it MAY have looked like. Iam not trying to argue though, just wanted to post a thoughtful response.

sgt_F79 46 pts

AlexPR_13 I understand that, but i think maybe Ubisoft didn't know that, maybe they didn't know that Assassins  are actually main part of shia'a which is a muslim creed, there were Templars who they fought against that's true, but anyways IT IS  video game, so it doesn't really matter,i said all of that because they always say this " historically accurate" maybe they meant what you said the places, outfit and all.

I might just ask them and see.

thx anyway and i respect you're opinion have a lovely day sir :D.

AlexPR_13 9 pts

Wait I am confused. This reply is for who exactly, me or sgt_F79??

sgt_F79 46 pts

NTM23  AlexPR_13 I still don't think you entirely understood my comment, i was wondering like asking and all.

and BTW now that you have said his name i recognized him, never heard of that nick name not in arabian authors or any others, it might be translation or they've just gave him that nickname , and btw it is Sinan Rashed Al diin not Rashed Al diin Sinan or more accurate Sinan son of Soliman son of Mohammed son of Rashed, he is not actually a LEADER he was just one of like a major and that he led people into battle and he used to live in Qala'at al moot.

anyways, i also find your comment not to be understood by mine, it seems you've just read a few lines of my comment and just ASSUMED, i know all of that i know it's a fiction but like im saying b4 im WONDERING.

sgt_F79 46 pts

 AlexPR_13 It was to me :I o_o

sgt_F79 46 pts

NTM23 AlexPR_13  you know you  still did not get my comment, do you know what " I'm wondering" means sir? in my first comment i've said some stuff yeah, but thx to AlexPR_13 he pointed it out and showed me in a respectful way, and i appreciate that and thank him for that he understood my comment unlike you sir, it is not that i didn't type what i was saying very well , it is you who didn't understand.

sgt_F79 46 pts

NTM23  AlexPR_13 and i would want to point out a mistake about sinan he was a leader, i got cofused by him and another sinan who was a like i said something like a major the sinan who you mean is a very well known very powerful leader who used to be called shiekh of the mountin (??? ?????)

NTM23 I know that, and i realize that, im just wondering since the game name is Assassin's CREED,if the game was called Assassins, then yeah maybe, because everyone who knows about there history and all knows about there creed, that kinda makes me wonder if Ubisoft knew that or not.

and there is another thing, like you said maybe they are just bending history and all, creating this historic mixed with fiction atmosphere, and i quite like that, that what makes me love this game.

And another thing :P, anyone who would believe that apple of Eden ppl before us and all , well then he or she is...ummm...well i don't want to insult anyone but you know what i mean.and also, Al-Mua'alim wasn't a real character, they made that character up, and his name well it might be a mistake in translation, because Al Mua'alim in Arabic means "the mentor or the teacher".

anyways i respect your opinion, though there is that " pointless" bit so yeah, anyway thx.

El_Zo1212o 17 pts

@sgt_F79 Ubisoft never claimed it was historicallt accurate. The disclaimer clearly says "this work of fiction."

ShadowOfKratos 169 pts

By the way, I just remembered the CG trailer for Revellations, watched it again now, and boy had I forgotten how epic it was. Even though Revellations didn't reveal much and was probably the weakest of the entries in the series, I still think it had the best CG trailer of the all. I mean everything about it was perfect, especially the music (I'm ready for the fight... and faith... **arrow to the knee**... err... shoulder). Just brilliant.

I think Gamespot should also make a compilation of the Trailers  :P  mmm... or maybe not... maybe I just got psyched by Revellation's trailer  ;)

One of the best trailer of all time! It's either that or the directors cut Deus EX: HR trailer.

Thank you so much GameSpot lol rainy day, not got work for hours and this feeds my AC appetite tremendously. I think you should do a video on how it relates to real myths and religions! Unless you already have in which case I feel ashamed.

Just finished this again last week and I still think that the story is the best of all AC's so far. AC3 has alot to live up to. Pleeeease don't fail me Ubisoft!

SergioMX Me too. He's a wonderful character that provided a charming center to a great series of games.

Kevin-V  SergioMX i miss altair more than ezio. AC1 used to be pure philosofy

b10nutz 91 pts

Fowsed  Kevin-V  SergioMX  I miss more Ezio because the nature of his story, it was more personal and more easily to love Ezio from the start of the game, but Altair starts by killing an old man and showing no remorse it's story is more cold, more business then personal, it's harder to attach to him then Ezio. In the end both are great characters and well written no doubt of that.

Steba93 177 pts

b10nutz  Fowsed  Kevin-V  SergioMX I miss Ezio more too, It just feels like I never got to know Altair, I barely remember anything about him from AC1. In Revelations they give him a bit more character and I really started to like him, but Ezio just takes the cake. His story was more interesting, relatable in the start and it took nice twists. You actually saw him grow up to an assassin and his connection to his family and friends, Altair didn't really have that.

sgt_F79 46 pts

SergioMX I guess i'll miss Altair more, i loved his mysterious side and all of that .

I think it is great that they post this videos everyday. I kinda am watching it while I am at work so do not tell me to get a life. It is like a TV episode that I need to get to have my daily fix on.

I really didnt have the time to play the 1st Assassins Creed and by watching the cut scenes it gave me a better understanding when I started AC2.

Thanks for posting this videos. I surely will come back for the next episode. Cant wait for AC 3 though!!
