Wake up to what? 'Better' is a subjective quantity, and judging by the reaction a HELL of a lot of people agree with them that tactical cover shooters in Gulf climates are getting stale. Maybe it's you who needs to wake up and realise the writing's on the wall for this genre as long as Activision and EA effectively hold the monopoly and keep churning out the same tired engines in the same tired settings year after year.

Seriously - theres been 6 halo games i can think of, black ops 2 is literally COD 10 or 11 - Its like th 5th AC game.
SO 17 FPS's are fine but 5 AC games are far too many?

I suppose they're getting around this by having the public do the actual defamation - offering a "prize" for doing so would probably cancel that out however. I reckon it's probably a good idea if people put down their big book of hate, picked up a dictionary, and looked up the word opinion.
Then realise we are all entitled to one.
In my opinion there are too many sequels rolling out on big games but that doesn't make all sequels bad. Assassins creed, COD and battlefield are all great games but I find the speed of release is too much, especially considering the cost of buying them all plus download packs.
I would be much happier for a better game less frequent, then it feels like we are getting something worth while

Of course tactical, cover-based shooters are stale. All shooters are stale. The laughable thing is that the run-and-gun Halo/CoD-style shooters are even WORSE.
And JRPGs get stick for being too derivative. Really? The majority of the western model is based around making as few changes as possible and then talking about how many changes you made.

As long as what they're saying is fact then there's no problem with it. With this its not actually an advertising campaign and all its doing is appealing to people's opinions of MOH: Warfighter. They aren't actually saying anything bad about the game itself.
