Ugh, Boston... they think everything they do is so great. That's why I moved out of that dump in the first place.

onixevil 72 pts

are you sure? if yes what about the stupid designers of RE operation raccoon city ,I am sorry but I'm not talking a bout the total profit of this game I'm talking a bout the original designers those  come from original game titles and truly listen to the gamers suggestions

Great feature, which inspire me of an idea of my own as I got some gaming ideas besides I live like 20mins from Boston 'cheers :)

WoZe 66 pts

Who care's about Boston. All the great games come from CANADA. Typical americans kissing their own buttocks. Keep living in that bubble.

Gamer_4_Fun 513 pts

WoZe You have Bioware, Ubi montreal. Then?

I would say some great games actually coming from UK, you ready to ROCK?

Rocksteady: Batman Arkham Asylum/City

And of course...the mammoth Rockstar North, the makers behind GTA

Media Molecule

Many more.

Things may be in Boston, but none of those people seem to be FROM Boston.

 CRS98 How could they not?

All hail Beantown! I moved with my family to central Illinois when I was little, and this flat, empty dump simply can't compare. A good time for most of the rednecks out here is sitting around drinking or talking in some gas station diner all day while the corn and beans grow. Also, virtually no progress in terms of science and technology. The place looks almost exactly as it did back in the late 90s.

What I wouldn't give to go back out there to the world of advancement! I keep hearing talk of "new ideas." It's making me jealous.

I want to work in games making :( but that job is ignored and has no future in my country :"()

NiklasW_86 65 pts

gkhalifa I don't see how that would be a problem for you? There isn't really anything stopping you from moving to another country to work with games development. The beauty about the video games industry is that it's so open and non-biased about hiring  international co-workers.

josecer 18 pts

gkhalifa yeah @NiklasW_86 is right, if you win a scholarship you could go to another country. Effort is always awarded my friend

NiklasW_86 65 pts

josecer  gkhalifa Actually you don't even need a scholarship, as long as you've been hired and have got some savings you're good to go. though of course getting a scholarship makes everything so much easier!

gkhalifa 12 pts

wow guys thanks. but I have a question, what do I need to study basically so I can work in game development ?

Generic_Dude 18 pts

gkhalifa Depends on what it is you want to do in the industry. A lot of game designers are self-taught in some way or another -- get books from the library on how to do programming in C++, how to use Photoshop, Illustrator and 3D art programs like 3DSMAX and Maya. You can get books on programming video games from Amazon too. Build yourself a portfolio and submit it along with a resume. A degree never hurts -- computer science is good, or a computer art program if you are interested in graphics. Start building your skills early, though, and be ready to adapt as new technology becomes available.

gkhalifa 12 pts

thanks dude I will work on that

I really appreciate your advice <3

Crate is in Boston too, currently developing Grim Dawn, a better Diablo. Kickstarter here btw: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crateentertainment/grim-dawn

killersushi Thanks for sharing the info. That game looks really good.

Germanviking 5 pts

Um, the schools doesn't have much to do with it, Atlanta has count it, 20 different schools teaching game development.  Yet, there is only one company making games in the area.

c0kemusheen 268 pts

Germanviking Erm actually the education system has much to do with it. Harvard and MIT are some of the best schools in the country if not the world. Taking grads from professional institutions such as these makes even better games :)

therealeu 6 pts

Just cuz you graduate from one of those schools doesn't make you a good game dev?

Generic_Dude 18 pts

c0kemusheen MIT grads generally do not make video games, nor do Harvard grads.

Ford_Cruller 33 pts

Great job with the show Shaun. No offense to some of the other videos on the site, but this seems to be a nice step up on the production side of things. Looking forward to future episodes.
