We've updated the Apple Newsstand version of OXM with better navigation, screenshot galleries and streaming video, taking you a step closer to the Minority Report reading experience that we've long desired for the mag.
Starting with issue 87, available now, you can now use the cover to jump straight to articles by tapping the headline, and we've redesigned the Contents pages so you can quickly find the page you want. The biggest features, reviews and previews have screenshot galleries so you can see games in glorious closeup (gloriousness greatly improved on iPad 3).
There are also embedded streaming videos, enabling you to take a guided tour of our Minecraft server direct from the feature dedicated to it. (You'll need to be connected to the internet to view them, though, as we didn't want to increase the download size by embedding them). All this for the same wallet-friendly price of £3.99, a £2 saving on the print version.
If you're an iPad user, please give it a try - and if you like it, leave us some nice feedback on the iTunes store so we can undo the damage caused by the earlier, more expensive version.
We're going to be making some further updates to the digital edition over the next few months, so if you've got any ideas or requests please let us know. We're not at the stage of doing a proper high-falutin' dedicated app yet - that'll come later on - but we want to make the standard digital edition a bit more than just a flat page viewer.

I still cannot decide whether to keep my magazine sub, or convert to the ipad sub.

Sounds interesting, I'll give it a go as I couldn't find the mag in the shops the other day

One day, I'd like them to be one and the same. No idea if/when that'd happen, though.

Even better if you do a 1 month sub you get it for £2.99 save another quid. What a tight arse I am

Got one problem Jonty the Hitman vid link isn't working for me. I've tried it a couple of times and it's not working

All working fine for me. Excellent to see that OXM don't see the digital edition as a licence to print more money. It is genuinely innovative with the improvements that have been made.
Awesome job guys & girls.

I noticed the new little bits the other day and wondered why they'd appeared without much fanfare!
Only suggestion for me is if you could add a 'back to where you came from' navigation link for when you press one of the links by accident. I'm sure in the future it'll link more to the site etc as well which could be really cool, no doubt you've got ideas on this already though
EDIT: I mention them then forget to add i like them and think they're a great addition!

I've deleted the magazine and re downloaded it and it's still not playing the Hitman vid link, is anyone else using an iPad 1 having this problem?
Apart from that it's all great. Still miss not having the mag in my hands, but I'm sure I'll get over it

Doesn't work on mine either, but it does work on my 4S handset. Looks like a problem with the coding in the mp4 video itself - one for the development boffins!

I thought for a minute I was going to have to go to the Apple store and complain might have got a new iPad out of, or maybe not.

Sorry to hear you're having problems - I'll ask the dev team about it.
Thanks for the kind words otherwise!

I bit the bullet and downloaded the hitman edition (no pun intended) and was less than impressed. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of great features, but I can't stream the vid for the hitman game. It pauses about 20 seconds in and refuses to go further. There is nothing wrong with my iPad, router or Internet. How about giving us chance to download the clips rather than streaming via the web, so we can have a better overall experience.
