Shaun McInnis put the pedal to the metal on this video review for Forza Horizon.
No racecars :(
booo...no cops?
What is the name of the song at the start of this video?
divinemamgai Martin Solveig feat Kele - Ready 2 Go...
I'm pretty sure Kele is the lead singer from Bloc Party.
The only thing I'm disappointed about with this version of Forza. is that it would've
been fantastic if you could hit a replay button whilst driving along the scenic vistas and have the ability to capture the last 30 or 60 seconds of driving with the option to edit the clip, and post it online or save to your hard-drive.
The story line and the arcade type events do make it feel like the NFS and Burnout Paradise franchise, however it leaves both of these games for dead with it's realistic 3d modelling of the cars and the handling of the cars that Forza 4 has simply amazed us with over the last twelve months. Now if you're into the Codemasters racing games, you can see how much influence they've had when it came to designing the menus and the quirky character voice overs within the story line of the game just like the Grid Series and Dirt Series. It also look as though they've used Codemasters graphics engine that looks amazing and runs very smoothly! As I was saying, if you have played both the Grid and Dirt Series, you will notice that the graphics with the exception of the cars, which have definitely been rendered by the Forza dudes, the entire graphics engine and the effects like the bloom lighting as the day cycles from sunrise to sunset, as well as the scenery graphics, which look like a combination of Grid, Dirt 2 and Dirt 3's textures and lighting.
This is more like nfs and burnout paradise, but still keeps the forza elements.
It's just like Need for speed most wanted.
So, if "Forza Horizon" gets a low review, haters will say "Ha: I knew it! The game sucks, just like I expected!"
If it gets a high review score, the haters will whine: "The score is too high! It doesn't deserve it!"
I'm not even going to bother giving a mid-score example, because haters aren't interested in "balance" or "compromise" when it comes to video games they have already made up their minds about, and jumped to conclusions over.
So, the reviewer liked "Forza Horizon"? So what? It's not the end of the world.
He gave his opinions about the game, based on his experiences playing it. He never passed a mandatory "law" about how the game must be forcefully regarded as "great" by everyone, whether they like it or not.
The reviewer liked "Forza Horizons" enough to give it an 8.5, and some people want to lose sleep over it?
Seriously then: what's the point of ANY reviews? Someone is gonna disagree with them for one reason or another.
Solution: Go write your own reviews (that is, once GameSpot has fixed the current bug/glitch plaguing their User-Game Reviews Section).
I hate that goofy playboy fast-furious vibe that plagues most racing games. For me a racer must be someone with a jumpsuit and a helmet, the only music is the engine sound, tires burning, gears passing, injecting fuel, that fine driving symphony.
Just Wait for HALO4, it's gonna get 10 for the first Time!!!!
The game is nothing new , they have bassically ripped off everything from past racing games and put the Forza name on it , nothing new or inventive 8.5 ? more like 5
Meh, I'll wait for this game to be 20. Still don't understand how this game got an 8.5. Should have been like a 7. GameSpot, your reviews are starting to get less reliable
I feel like I need to use my steering wheel to enjoy this game. Just doesn't look as fun & challenging with a controller. Anyone else?
I wonder if this is worth playing for those who don't have XBL Gold. I think I'll wait for it to hit the bargain bin.
Did the makers of Dirt jump on board
looks beautifull, i want it.
i don't get one thing - i asked around in different forums, in forzamotorsport.net. I wrote to weareplayground several times, asking a question that is annoyingly simple - IS THERE A D-PAD steering in Forza Horizon, and noone seems to care enough to answer with a simple yes or no. The game looks amazing, and if there is a game that will force me to use the LS to steer the car, it will be Forza Horizon, but it is kind of stupid, that people reveal so many thing weeks before the game hits the shelves, but can't be bothered to answer to this question. So if anyone know please, let us (i know for sure that there are a lot of other people using it) know wheter there is a D-pad option in what seems to be, the best driving game for 2012!
Thanks :)
bultras8411 weareplayground I'm fairly certain there isn't. I honestly don't know of anyone who prefers the Xbox's d-pad for racing games. Why not invest in a wheel?
shaunmc well, I really want a wheel, but I don't have enough place to install it the way it should. Anyhow, I have talked with a lot of people, in the forzamotorsport.net who also prefer to steer the car with the d-pad, but I am an old school gamer, and that is the reason I use it. Thanks for the info mate! Cheers!
I will play this only for the Venom GT.
4 full points better than RE6. Sorry, had to do it.
jayfi33 So what your saying is everything that gamespot rates 8.5 is better then a game you have never played, now you do realize have made everyone who has read your post a little less inteligent
darkagent7 jayfi33 Do you also realize that you already sounded less intelligent? :P
Seriosly ? No Split Screen ? I only play Dirt 3 with friends and we have to do turns because only 2 people max can play, I'm starting to think it's the only racing game that has split screen of this generation
Looks fun, and beautiful. But no Split-screen always turns me away from a game. Developers don't understand now a days that some people just want a racer they can sit on the couch with a couple friends with beer and pizza. Thus why I still own Dirt3 and Blur.
Codester_41 I hate dirt 3, there was only one type of truck and buggy, and all the tracks feel the same. I loved dirt 2 though, so much variety and soo much Baja!! I hate what they did with Dirt 3.
Codester_41
You do realize how taxing it would be on a console to split screen an open world as vast as this. Dirt and Blur are on enclosed tracks which is easy for any console to draw twice.
CluBBedToDeAth Codester_41 Minecraft is an open world and it has 4 player spit-screen.
h224justin CluBBedToDeAth I'm sorry h224justin, I see your trying to make a point here, but minecraft is a simple game, thus making it easy to duplicate. Borderlands 2 is a better example, but I don't know why we're here talking about Action games. I'm talking about racing games. I'd rather have split-screen racing than an open world game.
So...... they took the presentation style of the Dirt series and the open world layout of Hot Pursuit/Paradise City?
anfonyl
So Hot Pursuit must have taken it from Driver, or any other open world driving game. Developers don't take anything from others. Ideas and concepts are shared throughout the industry.
i cant wait to get it and i hope to see an horizon 2 in the future
game sucks. developers paid some serious dough to gamespot.
ChocolateAddict Oh sure, someone else likes a game that you despise and you dismiss them as having been paid off - without proof too.
Such a petty way of complaining. :/
Why is Wiz khalifa on the game? AHHHHH ZING!!
I wow, I am not into racer games, but the game looks amazing.
Without "tuning" you are at the mercy of what the developers think the car should handle like...it looks good, sounds great (music rubbish aside) but without the fine tuning aspects of FM4 I'm not so sure....
DAMSOG Just another arcade console racer.
mlcarter815 DAMSOG
Have you played it? Do you know that it's arcade? Probably not. Just another sim-purist who thinks "arcade racing" games aren't fun.
CluBBedToDeAth Played the demo, listened to the review, made up my own mind...yes it's an arcade racer and no I didn't find it fun...
This game was made for me!!!
Evrything I wanted for years!!!
Only two things that could make it ever: Cops and Bring it to PS3 NOW!!!!
ME WANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
wow looks better than i thought it would, i wont this but halo 4 is out a week later it's a shame really i can only get 1 of them and it has to be halo:(
Why does all the HUD and lots of artwork look exactly like in DiRT2?
tomwitowski They had some people from codemasters work on this game that why you see resemblance to many other racing games
So it's like NFS Pro Street?
Xiosis More like NFS: Underground
Partyskelett Xiosis Nop niether, Most Wanted!
bloody_roar_fan Xiosis So you're trying to tell me Underground isn't like this at all?Do you realize how much I played that(/those) game(s)?Sure, both Pro Street and Most Wanted had similar attributes, but Underground had them "first".And we haven't even touched on the overall look, which strongly resembles Dirt 2 & 3.
Pre-ordered for release day delivery. I can't wait to play this game. Forza driving mechanics + beautiful open world to explore and race in = awesome.
