Jim - totally with you on the Zimbardo argument. My partner and I came across that story awhile ago and scoffed, it just makes him sound like a cranky old man. Plus, this is the dude who conducted the Stanford prison experiments that showed just how deranged and brutish man's psyche can get with a little power and who my cousin - a psychologist herself who interviewed him, claims is totally gay. Which is weird...a gay man bitching about man's masculinity on the decline. Methinks the lady doth protest a bit much...
Holmes - I love you for your appreciation of Ghost World and especially Seymour. The movie was a little pretentious, but nowhere near as pretentious as Juno, for example. Or 500 Days of Summer. Fuck that movie. Also, Ghost World was in theatres right around 9/11/2001 and was the perfect movie to keep a mind off of all of that insanity.
That said, you guys have got to get a woman on podtoid if you're going to have gender-related discussions. The statement "I don't know how women can be attracted to men" is just begging for an answer, and it seems a bit unfortunate that none were present to provide one.
