New Vita IP Tearaway stars a cute little guy named Iota. He's trapped in the world, in your Vita, and wants to get into the real world to "deliver a message." Media Molecule calls it a "buddy movie" that you make yourself. It's a striking 3D universe made entirely out of paper types.

The whole world of Tearaway is in your Vita, so you can manipulate it using Vita's front and rear touch features. In a sequence we saw Iota fall through a paper bridge. To help him out, the player was able to stick his finger into the game's world by touching the rear panel to push around blocks to create a path for Iota to climb up. The Vita's camera and microphone are also used in challenges.

Tearaway looks super cute. And a new IP for Vita is great news.

"And a new IP for Vita is great news."

A new game of any kind for Vita is miraculous news at this point.

I bought the vita for those duel analogs and buttons. I guess I'm a sucker. I'm tired of games that ignore them in attempts to be iPhone games.

Just for the Vita, huh? Interesting. No chance this is coming to PS3 -- there for cutting out the pointless middle man?

This looks amazing. Can't wait. Never thought I'd say that about a game where touch controls are a thing.

i'm predicting after the trailer that it will be yet another title with interesting concept and terrible gameplay that sony fanboys will praise despite obvious and gigantic flaws just as it happened with Motorstorm, LBP and Modnation franchises.

@orniletter,

You're right. Nintendo invented paper. Certainly they invented utilizing paper in any kind of games. Playing cards be fucked, they stole that shit too...

You know, YOUR kind is how the industry never progresses. Constantly chanting "Simpsons did it" to every joke. Meanwhile, if you WATCH the trailer, your entire point can be summed up as "When Apples are already invented, screw oranges... they're just a broken ass apple."

Looks pretty adorable. Not ready to make the leap to Vita yet, but this game will be on my radar if I ever do.

I wonder how much is meant by "that you make yourself"? Will this be like LBP, where you can make your own levels from scratch - the 3D LBP in other words? I didn't get that sense from the trailer. Seems more like a more standard adventure/platformer that you can add plenty of your own personal touches to along the way. Not that there's anything wrong with that - just trying to gauge how ambitious and potentially huge of a game this is.

Media Molecule confirmed somewhere that you can choose that. This is now my Most Wanted game!

I will go out on a limb and say this is the Vitas killer app. Not a derivative spin off of a pre-established franchise. Not a watered down port, an actual fresh, new game built for the Vita. Atleast one of Sony's studios finally gets it. The Vita should be the play ground for radical ideas, good job MM for embarrassing every other studio.

Looks awesome! Hopefully there will be a lot of 3d platforming/exploration and not just gimmicks.
