Sony closed out the day with its press conference, and while nothing too crazy was put on display, it was an all-around decent showing. I would've liked to see more Vita titles, personally, but not everything at E3 needs to necessarily get that kind of special treatment.
The Last of Us looked positively thrilling and was certainly my highlight. Both God of War: Ascension and Quantic Dream's Beyond, on the other hand, seemed like what you would expect. Promising, but not exactly mind-blowing. If you disagree with that sentiment: 1) good for you! and 2) I'm jealous.
Here's a recap of all the major news from the conference:
E3: Journey is the 'best selling PSN game of all time'
E3: PlayStation All-Stars comes to Vita, new characters
E3: Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified headed to Vita
E3: PSone Classics are still coming to the Vita!
E3: Ellen Page will be featured in David Cage's Beyond
E3: Sony unveils Cross Controller for PS3/Vita
E3: Far Cry 3 to feature four-player co-op campaign
E3: Sony announces Wonderbook for the PlayStation 3
E3: God of War: Ascension: ELEPHANT CONFIRMED!
E3: Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, bundles announced
E3: Please just watch this Last of Us footage
E3: Quantic Dream unveils Beyond: Two Souls
For me, these conferences really brought home the point that this console generation has been going on for quite a while now. At this point, the ball is in Nintendo's court. Our bodies are ready, Reggie.

Overall, I was disappointed. The Last of Us looks cool, but I almost fell asleep during the Wonderswan...I mean Wonderbook presentation. Toddlers don't attend or watch E3, that little piece of work should have been shown elsewhere. I am guessing they paid J.K. Rowling an ass ton for it though, so it had to be shown.

They showed off tech that MSoft did a much better job discussing, a peripheral that requires another peripheral meant for the family market, and really didn't seem to have anything much to say about the Vita that was really a game changer.
But it was a completely solid showcase, and the only real flub I can see was how long they spent with the Wonderbook. Lots of gameplay from games we knew were coming, nothing spectacular (no cloud gaming announcement), but nothing too dookie either.
I wanted to see more Vita games, Dust 514, Overstrike (I'm officially worried for the game), new Ratchet, new Sly, Borderlands 2, future Starhawk content among other stuff. I know Sony keeps a lot for the show floor that'll trickle out over the week but their presser was pretty disappointing.
PASBR... Meh. I'll still get the game day one, but they should have announced more characters, and played with NEW characters. I'm betting that 99.9% of everyone who attended Sony's Briefing already saw PASBR gameplay before with those characters being used.
Vita stuff. Was expecting an original, new IP, or at least FFX HD info. Then when they went on about PS1 classics, I was ready to throw my money at the TV... But they didn't mention a concrete date for that. FAIL!
ACIII. Wow! Was hoping for a custom ACIII PS3... Whatever. Still good gameplay.
Far Cry 3. Meh. The SP shown during Ubisoft's con was better.
SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN RID OF WONDERBOOK! IT OVERSTAYED IT'S WELCOME!
GOW:A. Awesome! Keaton's pushing the civilian and saved his life... Could we see a nicer Kratos?? And opening the elephant monster's head, and showing it's brain? FUCKING GRUESOME!
The Last of Us.
SPEECHLESS.
Overall, B-. TLOU and GOW:A were freaking awesome show closers.
Wait, what? Rayman Legends is a Wii U exclusive?
IS THIS TRUE?
Fuck me.
Beyond - Mind blowing
I'm not going to say it was worse than MS, but I expected less from Ms than what was shown and more from Sony than what was shown(although not anywhere near as much as most people...)
Ubisofts was absolutely the best, and they were also big forces at sony/ms own shows...
All that's left now is Nintendos...@o@
Seems like it. Just go back through the posts and you'll see it. I fucking burst into tears when I learned it was an exclusive... I hope it'll change (but most likely not, judging by the demo).
Oh yea, and that Wonderbook... Pretty stupid. It ain't even new technology either.
I hate to sound like that pessimistic bastard, but the only cool things I saw were the Vita for controller shtuff, The Last of Us and AC III Liberation for the Vita.
The Sony showing was ok... but lacked any real surprises (except for the kid's wonderbook game)... but everything else was already known.
That said, Wonderbook looked like something I can enjoy with my little girl, TLoU was predictably amazing, PSABR looks fun, and I'm intrigued to see what they do with LBP2's cross-controller thingy.
Standings thus far:
1. Ubisoft
2. Sony
3. EA
4. Microsoft
I just hope so cause I loved the sony pressconference but it feels like maybe they put alot of their teams on next gen stuff at the moment...E3 2013 better announce that the PS4 and next xbox will be available holidayseason...
Also David Cage should stop turning his weird wet dreams into video games. Our industry would be so much better.
but they did way better than MS by virtue of they remembered to show games. Last of us and god of war are on my must play list and im interested in beyond. boom faceshot.
Technically, ms showed the same number of games...about(im tired...)
Halo, gears and forza....
Well, not as many, but closer than your statement suggests.
UbiSoft looked hot though. Goddamn I hope they stop with their silly DRM so I can buy some of their games.
Indeed, it's Nintendo's E3 to lose at this point, and it'd take a pretty huge blunder to lose it I think.
Then the Beyond segment went on and on with no real sense of anything the game actually involves.
More of the same with PlayStation All-Stars, I was more interested in the girl on stage than the game itself.
I was shocked by how little they actually showed for the Vita. I thought this was Sony's opportunity to right the ship heading into the holiday season, but it may actually be time to start worrying about the Vita. They didn't even have any CoD fottage for fuck's sake. Then they threw Resistance under the bus by say CoD Vita would be the first AAA FPS on a dual analog portable! Way to support your own studio there Sony!
Other points of note: Poor draw-in distance for shadow at beginning if Far Cry 3!
Wonderbook...,, I'm not even going to touch this other than to say that without this beast, Sony's conference only would've been about an hour!
God of War just doesn't do anything for me. It's probably time to put this series to bed.
The Last of Us looked ok, but it really depends on whether or not Naughty Dog has figured out decent shooting mechanics yet, they've got the cinematic stuff down but we already knew that, it's the gameplay I'm worried about. Either way, I'm sure it will sell decently, somewhere between 2.0 and 2.5 million copies I'd guess. Something for the PlayStation faithful to latch onto, but probably not a system-seller.
Overall I thought MS put on a better show than Sony. I thought MS had the better exclusives (though I would've liked to have seen more). Sony's show felt really drawn out as if to hide the lack of content.
MS: B-
Sony: C+
Of course, I expect Nintendo to blow the roof off of the building tomorrow.
But anyways, Ubi certainly holds the lead currently. I'm feeling kind of over Assassin's Creed as a series, but I still found the ACIII demo highly entertaining and refreshing. And then there's Watch Dogs, which pretty much stole the show overall so far.
the epicentre of gaming? Did he feel at least a bit embarrassed when he said that?

Other than that, I thought a lot of the stuff they demonstrated was pretty cool. Did a better job of showing off the improvements in connectivity than Microsoft did. Definitely most excited for the Last of Us.
