With their intricate sounds, intense pyrotechnics and relatable holiday music, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) continues to amaze fans all over the world. Paul O'Neill, Robert Kinkel, Al Pitrelli and Savatage lead singer Jon Oliva founded the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in 1996. The name appears to be inspired by the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia; connecting several cultures that are otherwise isolated much like music.
Easy to see the influence of bands like Aerosmith and Scorpions, both managed at one point by O'Neill, TSO is most closely associated with their holiday-themed music. A seasonal, classical music staple, Trans-Siberian Orchestra tickets equal a great time for the entire family!
The idea behind TSO was to develop an orchestra type band that would play Christmas carols with a rock music twist. In studio the band makes use of a full orchestra and choir. The band's first release in 1996, Christmas Eve and Other Stories, was a rock opera. 1998 saw the release of The Christmas Attic, another rock-opera styled album containing hit "Christmas Canon."
When playing live in concert, TSO uses several vocalists, musicians, a narrator and taps local musical talent to beef up the string section. Truly a concert event to be experienced, fans dole out rave reviews show after show. It's just not the holiday season until you get a dose of TSO holiday hard rock classical style!
