Les Misérables Tickets

Les Misérables the musical is based on a mix of the story from the original French novel and music from a concept album of the same name. Le Mis initially opened in 1985 in London, and while critics denounced the show as blasphemy on classic literature, audiences fell fast and hard for the musical. The initial Broadway theater production debuted in 1987 and ran until 2003. At the time a number of London-based productions were dominating U.S. stages including Cats and Phantom of the Opera. With over 6,500 performances between opening and closing of the show, Le Miz was one of the longest running musical theater productions on Broadway at the time. Though the show was set to close in March 2003, due to a surge in sales of Les Misérables tickets, the show continued for two more months. Nominated for 12 Tony Awards, the show took eight.

The popularity of Le Mis was undeniable, and in 2006 the show was brought back to the Broadhurst Theatre for a limited run. In 2009 a 25th anniversary version of the show hit the stage with new staging and scenery inspired by art from the novel’s author Victor Hugo. The theater adaptation of this classic story about the endurance of the human spirit has proven its staying power. The theatergoer reviews call the musical production a “must see performance.” Treat yourself to a wonderful and classic favorite by purchasing Les Misérables theater tickets now!
