Nottingham Trent University building Kinect-powered prototype to help assess stroke recovery

Nottingham Trent University has been awarded a grant to build a prototype system with Kinect, which will provide real-time feedback on stroke victims’ facial movements during rehabilitation. The team behind the device will spend 18 months developing the prototype with the £347,000 grant money. The system will track various movements during the recommend 45 minute therapy session for facial paralysis, with feedback appearing on-screen with the patient’s avatar. Information obtained using the tech will then be used to help with the patient’s rehabilitation. More on Eurogamer.

Dance Central 3 has a huge pile of DLC this month. On January 15, you’ll be able to grab Pitbull’s International Love and Hey Baby (Drop It to The Floor). On January 22, The Wanted’s Glad You Came will launch. On January 29, it’s Flo Rida’s Let It Roll. But first off the bat, on January 8, is Nicki Minaj’s Whip It. Kinect Nat Geo, Sesame Street second seasons now on Xbox Live

The second seasons of both Kinect Sesame Street TV and Kinect Nat Geo TV are available now on the US side of Xbox Live. The interactive TV shows are available as individual episodes for 400 MS Points or in full seasons for 2400 MS Points. Kinect Sesame Street TV has been enhanced with SmartGlass functionality this season, so you can create playlists of your favourite moments.

Crimson Dragon demo released and quickly pulled from XBL Marketplace in Japan

A demo for Crimson Dragon, the Kinect title from the creator of Panzer Dragoon, was accidentally released on the XBL Marketplace in Japan today before being quickly pulled by Microsoft. However, as with all things “the Internet”, some quick-on-the-draw folks downloaded it just in time and posted gameplay videos of it. Have a watch below before it’s pulled. Kinect Party has launched and will be free through December 31. Grab it now from the Xbox Marketplace – make sure you get both the base game and full unlock. Kinect Party is the sequel to Double Fine Happy Action Theater, which both Pat and Mike hailed as an excellent use of Kinect and one of the few truly kid-friendly games available. If you own both you can unlock the original’s activities in the sequel.

Xbox 360 will be released in Israel later this month

Xbox 360 will launch in Israel seven years after it was released in the US, Microsoft has announced. The console’s release was revealed during the firm’s Discovery conference in Tel Aviv yesterday.
