David Fincher's Halo 4 launch trailer - breathtaking first glimpse of Master Chief's bare feet

Also: Cortana is his mother. Wait, what?

The first rule of Fight Club is that when you're abducted as a child, chemically experimented upon and transformed into a superhuman killing machine, you vent your injured feelings by stamping on a Promethean Knight's head. There you go - now you don't even need to watch Halo 4's launch trailer, a mix of live action and CGI that's directed by the one and only David Fincher.

This may be the first time we've laid eyes on Master Chief's bodily hair, by the way. Such lovely strokable forearms. Are you stoked?

  1. Excellent trailer, just imagine if they could keep up quality like this for a feature length film? I'd watch it.

Fincher is a fantastic director so I'm not surprised he had a hand in making this work, definitely tempts me to buy Halo 4 all the more, but still not a day one purchase for me.

  2. "Rise Lord Vader". Sorry couldn't help myself. Does any of the above appear in Forward until Dawn at all?

  3. Someone somewhere must do a movie, the mini series and the little video's that fly around are excellent, the animation of the enemy is getting better everytime,
Its bound to be a massive hit also, question is..... what direction would the story be???

Yep, a very good director - his directors cut of Alien 3 for example (his debut film) is vastly under-rated, and ten times better the theatrical release. I've never been a massive Halo fan (3 was the last one I bought, borrowed & enjoyed the anniversary reboot) but watching that trailer & reading some of the articles, I'll admit I'm intrigued.

  5. As if I wasn't hyped enough, what a great trailer.

More than ready to finish the fight again I think.

Technically the extended cut of Alien 3 is a producers' cut, as Fincher was so irritated by studio meddling that he wanted nothing more to do with it after the cinema release. Alien Anthology is one of the best Blu-ray box sets I've bought, and if you like lots of special features, make sure you get the 6-disc version and not the 4-disc that just has the films.

  7. am i stoked ive had this pre orderd for months and i took the risk and its the first time ive ever comited to the limited edition and ime sooo glad i did ive got xcom and bought dishonoured today to see me through but i am a massive massive halo fan this is the game that switched me from the ps1 words cant describe how much ime looking forward to this all my friends are itching to go aswell so bring it .Great vid by the way

  8. FYI, Fincher did not direct the trailer. He was only the producer, while a guy called Tim Miller was the actual director.

Also, I hope OXM doesn't really think the trailer is potraying Cortana as his mum right?
