Edge cover gallery shows evolution, death of game trends

19 years of intellectual imagery available for browsing

This doesn't really count as news, but it's quite interesting, and from elsewhere in the Future family - Edge has put up (nearly) every cover it's ever had since launching in 1993, and it's a fascinating gallery of yesterday's future.

You can marvel at the misguided (the execrable Amiga fighter Rise of the Robots) the inexplicable (a promo shot of Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible which apparently relates to N64) and the, um, edgy (the bleeped-out Xbox debut, which we've helpfully attached to this article).

It's quite a nice format, too, so you don't have spend ages clicking through it. Give it a look.

  1. Oooh, that takes me back. I remember the first two issues... before I decided that I was going back to C&VG, or whatever else it was that I read at the time.
The 3DO!! I'm not sure even the Saturn or the Dreamcast sank as quickly as that did...
