dint realise WAW:zombies was a game, i thought it was an add-on :?

    and where is Uncharted 2?

I understand with Mass Effect being first, but really? MW2 cam second? Really?

Uncharted 2 was the game of the year for me,, no doubt.

    Can't believe Uncharted 2 didn't even get a look-in. What's wrong with the world?

    WTF is going on here?
World of Goo is a 2008 game. :?

  5. Ward_17 on 29 Oct '10 said:

and how did Guitar Hero 5 get music game?

Im still angry at Uncharted 2 though, just goes to show that COD is a very popular powerhouse that is loved by gaming retards who dont know what a good game is when they see one!

    WAW:zombies is an iPhone game

Surprised not to see Heavy Rain even in the top 3 for soundtrack of the year, best music I have ever heard with a game. Suppose thats the downers of being on 1 format.

  8. Rojoco on 29 Oct '10 said:

@allygray69 You're right. Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2 are two of the few gaming soundtracks I've actually paid money for. I've not really heard much of the FF soundtrack. :|

    Golden Joysticks.....what a load of b*****ks.

It's an over-sponsored, self-indulgent, back-slapping event designed to charge extortionate amounts of cash out of people attending.

The results are tripe and bear any real relevance of quality - albeit a few exceptions.

Golden Joysticks used to be credible platform, but now it's a soulless exercise in corporate greed.

The Action/Adventure Game Of The Year:
Assassin's Creed II vs Batman: Arkham Asylum = Batman AA easily by a square mile, in fact it was easily GOTY as well

    Music Game Of The Year:
Guitar Hero 5 vs DJ Hero = No contest DJ Hero every time ...

  11. acey on 29 Oct '10 said:

That list is bulls**t  don't like any of the winners and the one to watch list is a complete joke.

Where the hell is littlebigplanet 2 (AKA GOTY 2011) batman:ac, brink killzone 3 kirby's epic yarn plus the dozen other games on the horizen that are much better than the ones picked? :x

  12. FlimFlam on 29 Oct '10 said:

What a load of crap. I look at those results, read the comments here, consider general gamer/industry opinion and come to the conclusion that these results are utter ball bag.

Has to be a fix. No Uncharted 2? That sucks. Who the hell didn't think that game was GOTY material?

ODST didn't even get a look in for soundtrack of the year?

One to watch: Black Ops? Give me a f**king break. What about the myriad games coming that look genuinely innovative? Deux Ex 3? The Last Guardian? Probably weren't even short listed, granted, but seriously: One to watch - the yearly update of an ailing franchise.

Sweet Zombie Jesus, where did it all go wrong.

  13. kaptainabsinthe on 29 Oct '10 said:

unless i have misread something, arkham asylum didn't win anything? what a joke.

  14. Ward_17 on 29 Oct '10 said:

Arkham Asylum was a masterpiece and it revitalised a whole genre (the superhero games).

Golden Joysticks used to be really good but now they just get over run by sponsorship and too much money.

FYI Uncharted 2 isn't on there because it was GOTY for 2009. These are the 2010 awards. Don't get so wound up over nothing. The only reason MW2 is on there is because it released so late in the year. I have no clue how WaW zombies got on there though, thats just plain stupid since its 2 years old.

    according to wiki
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Joystick_Award

    GOTY 2009 was Fallout 3!

That statement makes no sense .... So because the game was released late on that somehow makes it OK to put what most intelligent people would say is a retarded game as a runner up to GOTY? .... Hell no ... not on my watch

  18. Dave_25 on 29 Oct '10 said:

    'and where is Uncharted 2?'

UC2 was a good game but very overrated, I played it through once, have no interest in playing it again and no way was I even going to bother with the multiplayer on PSN....Really?!

I don't agree with MW2 winning though, that really was an overrated turd of an addon pack, BF BC 2 was a much superior game.....but when you open voting to chavs there was really only going to be one winner.

I simply cannot believe Batman didn't win......and FF XIII best soundtrack?! WTF?! FF games have and always will have the most annoying, crappy Jap music.....I mean I've heard better in Bulgarin porn!

  19. azz72 on 29 Oct '10 said:

wont be voting next year, pretty pointless as they seem to pick the winners themselves

  20. pRM8 on 29 Oct '10 said:

Remember folks, its gamers that vote on these so its more of a popularity contest than an actual accolade of greatness. A great game In one persons eyes is a pile of s**te in another's etc, etc.

Saying that, Black-Ops the One to Watch?? Shameful, Im embarrassed to be a gamer.

  21. metallicorphan on 29 Oct '10 said:

haha..FF13 best soundtrack,a lot of Leona Lewis fans out there then?

  22. BenThomasFoster on 29 Oct '10 said:

very good list of games apart from one to watch and shooter of the year. although there is lack of 3rd person shooter game then uncharted would have a chance again mass effect 2 but then again me2 might have wone again

  23. Ward_17 on 29 Oct '10 said:

its a matter of opinion but i believe that Uncharted 2 was fantastic and one of the most well rounded games out there, and not over rated!

And if its awards for 2010 then how come Batman was is it, Assassins Creed, Tekken, DJ Hero etc. They all cam out in 2009!

  24. 8-bit-zombie on 29 Oct '10 said:

the third person shooter genre is so strong nowadays that it can force its way into the rpg category and win
makes about as much sense to me as giving a game like uncharted the goty award for the sports category.

  25. Mmmmgrolsch on 29 Oct '10 said:

FF XIII best soundtrack?! WTF?! FF games have and always will have the most annoying, crappy Jap music.....I mean I've heard better in Bulgarin porn!

 You moron, you very obviously have never heard any FF soundtracks and played the games. All the games have master piece soundtracks and its very very well known of this fact.
Youtube them and be ready to experience amazing pieces of music by some of the most talented gaming musicians in the world 8)

Honestly, the golden joystick awards this year are joke, totally.
It's one thing to have a different opinion about 'the best' in any particular category, but this years results are bizarre beyond reason. Well, apart from Mass Effect 2 I guess.

  27. KMakawa on 30 Oct '10 said:

Can't believe Jagex won for best UK Dev..
Surely that must go to either Media Molecule or Lionhead, I mean... Jagex? Really?!

  28. Eldariel on 30 Oct '10 said:

So...most categories where fine but one HUGE omission; Starcraft 2 was not up for vote in "Strategy Game of the Year" - wut?

FF soundtrack of the year? lol people who bought a zune only vote for that...

one to watch: COD BO? lol kinda true but only due to a massive gay fan base (me? never lol.... a bit... maybe)

wow GJ awards sucked this year, mw2 got one even though people bitched it off

bioshock 2 never made runners up? thats a shock

shame about fallout not getting any though (good game without bitches on my PSN listing bugs all day)

  31. sibear on 31 Oct '10 said:

Pretty sure Arkham Asylum won last year. Not really sire what it was doing in there this year unless it was for the GOTY year version.

  32. thedriffter50 on 31 Oct '10 said:

Why isn't Heavy Rain not even in the runner ups for best soundtrack ? Its easily the best use of soundtrack ever...

Black Ops the one to watch ? Go f*** yourself. ICO collection, Mass Effect PS3 edition, The Last Guardian and you chavy CoD fans choose Black Ops ? Seriously you chavs make me ashamed to be a gamer.
