$150 BioShock Infinite 'Songbird' edition revealed
Top-tier bundle for Irrational Games' new shooter to include 9.5-inch Songbird statue, art book, lithograph, digital wares, and Handyman miniature; $80 Premium Edition includes everything except statue.
Irrational Games today announced a $150 Ultimate Songbird Edition for BioShock Infinite. The bundle's premier item is a 9.5-inch statue (below right) of the game's Songbird creature, which has been designed by System Shock, BioShock, Thief, and Freedom Force concept artist Robb Waters.
The developer also took the lid off the $80 Premium Edition for BioShock Infinite, which includes a 3-inch keychain, a propaganda lithograph, a 25 millimeter Handyman miniature, and an art book. Additionally, it features various digital items, including in-game gear and the title's digital soundtrack.
Everything included in the Premium Edition is also bundled with the Ultimate Songbird Edition. At press time, the bundles were not available for preorder in the United States, although a website promising to take preorders has gone live. Irrational said both packs will be available for reservation in Europe and Australia beginning October 22. For more on each bundle, check out the landing page at Irrational's website.
BioShock Infinite was originally expected to ship on October 16, but was delayed to February 26, 2013 earlier this year. Several top developers have quit the studio, and its multiplayer modes were recently axed.
BioShock Infinite is set in Columbia, a flying city in an early alternate 20th century where utopian ideals have given way to chaos in a sea of weaponry, plasmid-like powers, and political upheaval. Into this mess steps the game's protagonist, Booker DeWitt, a former member of the feared Pinkerton National Detective Agency, which was America's largest security company in the late 19th century.
According to GameSpot's latest preview, DeWitt will enter a world where steampunk robots have replaced horses and people, and where crazed citizens foment revolution with strange powers--and lots of guns.
yawn
My only complaint is that the figure is only 9.5 inches. I might have to go for that ultimate edition. // I'd heard that there was talk of the multiplayer getting canned but I didn't realise it actually had. A proud day for single-player campaigns everywhere.
I wish i had a job! :(
year ago ... i would buy this title eyes closed ... now ... I'll read the reviews first then decide
the day am rich am getting all this rediculars special edition/bundle game boxes with statue and action figures
PS i really hate being poor
@steelmouth You can do it by buying less game....my friend bought mw3 FIFA 12 and nab 2 k12 for 180 used last year while I get skyrim ce for 150. It's about what game you like most and how much content you want for your favourite games, some people want more content from specific games some other just want purchase regular but more games....it's a matter of preferance
Imperiacommando Your tastes don't mean much if you have no money - at all.
@Rovelius Februari 2013 is still far away, if you save up from now you can get it, unless you re in critical finansial situasion and have many other expense to do then you can postpone it and buy it later, cheaper in the Internet
It look nice but I've hoped for a bigger artbook given the attention given to the visual aspect of the game... I'm not saying something like Blizzard's Artbook or The Witcher 2 Artbook, but something like Bioshock 2 and/or Crysis 2 would have been much more appreciated...
Too little too late for this gamer Irrational. And GS needs to get their facts straight - Infinite was first sched to launch Feb of THIS yr. Then was delayed to Aug., and THEN to this Oct. you referenced. Regardless, When they bumped it pretty last minute a third time to next yr, that was more than enough delays for me to loose most of my interest and excitement in the game. But I wasnt that into it in the first place as I personally was really hoping Levine would do something totally new, move on from Bioshock. The guy's got some serious talent but after refusing to help 2k marin w/ BS2, even after multiple requests, acting like "I'm the only 1 who can make a good Bioshock game. Its my baby!" Bullsh*t, what does he have up his sleave instead - another BS game. And looking at how rocky the dev's been on this new one, all I can say in the end is karma dude.
electronic_eye Another BS game? When did he make a BS game? All his games were pretty good.
It's looks very nice, i like it. Of course, i'll pre-order it.
I will wait to buy it for $40 like the $150 Skyrim bundles were. If people didn't buy up all the Skyrim ones I feel there will be plenty of Bioshock ones down the road. Will still be getting the game right away, but can buy the rest of the stuff for cheap later.
I display my stuff which reminds me I need another shelf.
g1rldraco7 :( i have empty shelfs
Do people really put their game collectables on display were others can see them or are they left to gather dust hidden away in a bedroom, etc....? Money well spent......
BladeStrike1234 I would personally be embarrassed to display a videogame statuette anywhere in my house. I have enough trouble getting laid as it is...
deliman lol
$150, Jesus Christ.. The game disc better be made out of gold.
Even though I like the art book (I wonder how many pages it will contain), this is a tad bit too expensive for my iron-thin blood! T-T
I dread to think of this, but given everything that has happened recently, the game may not end up meeting players' high expectations.
P.S. Can't limited editions of these games come bundled with different figurines?
I came...
The statue looks delightful, but I've already run out of space to put stuff.
for 150 bucks it better come with that damn statue
good for whoever likes all that junk. i'm just gonna get the game, maybe the standard version will have an artbook too since that was the case with bioshock 2 (in europe anway). and for the other 90 euros i'm gonna get 2 other games ;)
Deadly_Nemesis have you been playing game for like a week? Halo pretty much started the trend with Halo 3, but even before that and since 150 dollar edition is very common. Skyrim, Gears 3, Reach, Witcher 2, Borderlands 2 to name a few. So I dont know where this surprise is coming from.
That statue looks really cool. Too bad i can't afford the ultimate edition at this time.
150!!! O.O ARE THEY MOTHER F*CKING HIGH?!
I love this game and all but...no..
Does the art book come with the 80 dollar version though?
I want that statue, but I will not pay that price.
Oh well.
Everybody should buy this edition with the statue. I'm sure a Chinese sweatshop worker worked very hard on that thing for $2 a day. The least we can do to show that worker our support is to give Irrational Games the $150, I'm sure it'll find its way to that worker in China.
There's a sucker born every minute.
Im trying to decided if this will be like bioshock, which is now ridiculous hard to get with the big daddy statue and is really expensive, or bishock 2 where you can probably get the limited edition for under 40 bucks.
I want that stature, is that so wrong?
I'll take the GOTY/Complete edition, would you kindly?
I just want the art book.
This statue is not some mass produced product that you normally get in limited editions (which one can argue are hardly limited). This is handcrafted and using high quality materials, it easily justifies the price.
$80
$150
Man, why do these companies price these single games so high? The Statue is cool, but I have too many of those at this point. I'm out of the C.E. Collecting business until I move into a mansion.
by then it will be 200 bucks
Super disappointed that they pushed the release of this game into 2013 but I'm still ecstatic for it!
I'll just go with the standard game.....the collectibles are nice but....I'll pass, I just want the game.
I wouldn't pay $150 for that, but the Premium Edition sounds pretty good. Also, the statue is pretty big. If it's the actual size compared to the game boxes. The wing span alone is close to 2 feet long I would think. The height has to me more then a foot high. With all the details added, I can see it costing about $60-$70. I just wouldn't waste my money on something like that. If you are a collector and have the self space, then be my guest. I'll pass though.
ok, I'm just wondering what one does with a statue as fugly as that? You jyst know it's going to end up in the garbage after a few years because nobody is going to want it once you have realized you got screwed buying it.
That ultimate edition is way too much for just one statue...
That's too much to pay for something that's going to sit on my shelf and collect dust. I'm digging the Premium edition, though.
$70 extra for a small statue, when the game itself costs $60? Not sure if I get the point.
Reuwsaat a small statue and all the extra swag in the picture
sidewinder_na Reuwsaat you get 'all that swag' - apart from the bigger statue- with the 80$ edition as well
kleefkikker Reuwsaatso i take it you don't want the statue. fine, i'll gladly have it.
@sidewinder_na @Reuwsaat art book...such a joke...I always end up throwing that useless scrap in the recycle bin
xolivierx sidewinder_na Reuwsaat
Dang, send that stuff to me. I could use a new Bioshock 2 art book - the pages all stick together from years of...well......

lol guys of course that stuatue looks sick, I was just commenting that it's wierd that the statue costs more than the game itself xD
