Fred has worked at a total of seven newspapers and three television stations. Raised in the Parkchester section of the Bronx, he earned a B.A. in history from Long Island University, an M.A. in history from the University of Mass., and attended Brandeis University for a PhD in American Civilization but withdrew to "focus on the present, and not the past,'' as he likes to say.
