Rented this game first to see for myself. 4.5 is for broken games and RE6 is far from broken. VanOrd is just being a psycho nerd giving this such a low rating. Must be some pent up fan boy rage. Leave that shit at home, dude- and review game honestly. That's your fucking job.

If it wasn't a "Resident Evil" title, it may have scored higher.  But as a long-running series, the expectations are high.  I've played it, the production value are great, but the annoyances are many.  I would give it a 6.

Loved  Resident Evil 6-  easy and fun and enjoyed the journey-  if you play very slowly and examine all the great graphics and soundtrack- it is a fantastic game-  One doesnt have to work too hard and that is good for all us retired female players-   dont believe all the negative reviews-  you will see that it is a great journey!

Riggnorok 5 pts

i've heard great things about ths game so still going to get it despite the score besides games i like forward to gs will rate low and i'll enjoy anyway when all is said and done

leon's campaign so far has been pretty scary, and i'm playing with a friend split screen! especially the part in the metro/subway tunnels, that scared the crap out of me...

NuclearDefCon1 5 pts

lol, this is why i dont usually pay attention to reviewers.4.5... FOUR POINT FIVE????alright the game has aload of problems, he was right about the cheap deaths and that annoyed the crap out of me,

but 4 interlocking campaignes throughout a decent lengh game is worth a 7 on its on.theres no bugs that i've found and i find the combat fun, plus it can fully be played with a friend (apart from ada)i admit leons story starts off soooo slow... but by chris' its pretty fast paced.i dont think this is better then re5 but its imo an 7.5 game

limneosgreen 6 pts

thank god this game sucked so hard, hope they stop making any more parts

I want Shinji Mikami back in RE 6 development team!

they gave re6 a lower rating then kane and lynch got  wtf  kane and lynch  was so full of bugs you could not even finish the game  and it got a 6.0 wtf

emptycow 83 pts

let me remind you this is the same man that gave  metal gear solid 4 a 10 out of 10  i love mgs4 but the game had close to no gameplay at all along with that it had clunky controls crap cover system  .Cutscenes  longer then some tv shows  it aloso had load screens every  few min and 15 min load times and that game  got a 10 out of 10  lol again i love mgs  but wow  this dude has no idea at all how to do a reviwe    imo  resident evil 6  is alot smoother then  both resident evil 5 and metal gear solid 4 this  dude must of had a bad day to give this game a low score like this

Giygas07 6 pts

oh come on... " i love mgs4 but the game had close to no gameplay at all ". he didn't cite cutscenes and sequence buttons in video games as a detraction, he criticized how they were employed in this game - there's a big difference. in some games (heavy rain, mgs4, etc.) it works phenomenally well, in others it results in an unmitigated disaster.

above all else, this is the worst atrocity to ever befall the re franchise. gone are tension, a sense of impending doom, and overall atmosphere, replaced instead with hollywood action scenes and flashy production. the survival horror genre is pretty much dead.

wizardboyus 98 pts

Giygas07  emptycow holy shit you're right...mgs 4 had so many cutscenes, and then he bashes on this game for having too many?? weird...but i guess GS already said that they rate sequels based on how they improved themselves from the game before it, and it's not really that different from RE 5 save a few minor mechanics. i'm diggin the story though, definitely much better than RE 5 story...

Giygas07 6 pts

wizardboyus  emptycow i don't think you read my comment properly...

emptycow 83 pts

wizardboyus  Giygas07 re6 plays way smoother then re5  fact

emptycow 83 pts

Giygas07 re5 was a clunky mess  just from the demo of re6 alone i can see that re6 plays way better then re5

SINISTER_XIII 5 pts

Personally, I will be playing through all 4 campaigns just to see all the crazy enemies and cutscenes. My experience so far (currently into my second campaign) has been somewhat underwhelming. The game has MANY annoying little issues that add up to cause major frustration. The camera often behaves horribly and leads to many 'cheap' deaths. The quick-time events are too numerous and sometimes blatantly unfair, forcing trial-and-error retries. The controls and menus are surprisingly sluggish for a game so focused on action. Some locations are ridiculously dark, which would be fine if you could always use your flashlight... but you can't. Finally, the story becomes so convoluted that you won't know (or care) why seemingly important things happen.

So far, I would rate it a 6 out of 10.

Heh, super human jiggling skills.  Maybe the art of horror games is being swallowed up by action shooters.

common, who paid you to give a 4.5 score ?? This is never a 4.5. Minimum a 7.0. This review stinks

Giygas07 6 pts

DanteTheDylan lol you think he got paid to trash a game from a reputable company?

vernjackie 15 pts

In the past I generally agree with most of Kevin's reviews, but 4.5 is completely unfair. That score suggests i should be wiping dog shit from my shoe with this game.

While this game is far from perfect, its still a fun experience with decent depth to the gameplay and I rarely found myself bored during the 30+ hours i spent on the campaigns. This review exaggerates flaws too. There's not as many cut scenes as it'd make you believe and the game flows quite well.

Coming from someone who's played RE since RE1, I quite enjoyed RE6. Its definately not Resident Evil, but its still an addictive fun game.

jthotty 34 pts

vernjackie the new game sounds about right with dog shit wiping from my shoe.  Last time I remember its supposed to be scary and suspense-full.  Its following the RE movie series, which I hate with a passion.  Remember RE1 and RE2? Where you kept looking in your inventory and saw you have 3-5 bullets left and life sucks because zombies keep slowely coming at you and you feel helpless and you keep hoping at your seat screaming "nonononono!!!" Well, this game is trying to follow the MoH/CoD series, which it forgot itself and trying to do better then them and having amnesia that its a video game.  I like that he is trying to tell Capcom it needs to look back at its roots.

WillyWynn 24 pts

is not bad review, is real thing about the game, i bough the game and the game is exacly like he said! Worst resident evil from the series! Capcom destroy the frenchise, gratz capcom you are the best! Gamespot the only site to give the real score, i mean what the game diserves.

Bladestop 7 pts

Still wanna get this game, but I'm gonna wait for the price to come down. I don't have the money to spend on games when they first come out, curse the college life. It looks like fun which is what I'm basing it on. Sure, it may not be the best game. But, I'm just looking to play something for fun, and quick time events don't bother me cause I've always enjoyed them.

Humans are creatures of habit and followers by nature(why do we have armies).I agree people need to make there own mind up...Personally Im having a blast just done chapter one of jakes campaign getting 8 gold(amateur, normal, vet and proff) in both sherry and jakes campaign.some people will think im mad playing the same chapter 8 plus times but hey I love the game.

Different strokes for different folks, thank fuck we re not all the same or this place would be mega boring..........

Also cranked up my Dreamcast for abit of nostalgia and put on RE code Veronica and realised that the Games while having the puzzles we re terrible to control in those days so Im sick of hearing that the franchise has gone so down hill.LISTEN WITH ONE EAR and make your OWN DECISION.

noeway 10 pts

I think it is called placebo effect or something like that,Since someone said this game or product is bad most people are expected it to be bad and that how it works. What im saying is that at the first look the point makes me think that the game is bad.So to know whether the game is good or not one has to play it without taking or looking other people ideas.

Heavenly_King 90 pts

noeway yeah.  Because of the bad reviews people are to biased against to game.  When they experience a bit of ocassional discomfort, they will be like "this game is a piece of shit", etc, etc, etc.   I was talking to some guys on a forum and they treated the game like crap because of the first 15 mins of Leon´s campaign in which you can not do much because you are searching "someone".  People are too biased right now, and I dont know why.  If 8M liked RE5, those 8M should love even more RE6, because it is better.  The game is great, and I am having a blast playing it.   I have played it 50 plus hours and I am still playing it, because it is really entertaining.  And even more if you are playing with a friend.

gamespot2DBOne 21 pts

noeway or what games the reviwers like more and elss ;p

OmegaAK47 15 pts

Idk, I'm still having a lot of fun with the game. But hey a review is only a opinion of a game so everyone be the judge for your self.

Heavenly_King 90 pts

OmegaAK47 the bad thing about bad reviews, is that most people take them as 100% and because of that they are unwilling to experience the complete game; affecting the sales negatively. Hopefully word of mouth will make this game to sell as good as RE5, because I want a sequel.  For me this game is a blast! The more you play it the more it grows into you.  It is not a horror game, but It is a great 3rd person action game, that every action game fan must try.

emptycow 83 pts

Heavenly_King  OmegaAK47 dude im with you i am a big resident evil fan  and i think re6 not only looks better then re5 it also  plays better then re5 so how it got this low rating is just a joke

jh3r4ldsk13 8 pts

Damn you Leon, you've always got the lovely Resident Evil hotties swooning over you, but you are officially the coolest hero in the series to have a hot, athletic, and lethal dark angel like Ada Wong? always having your back.

I've got yellow fever and Ada Wong is the cause :D!!

I wonder what Kevin VanOrd's eating while reviewing this game.

Tidal_Abyss 244 pts

For me, this review has saved me money (was waiting for PC's release), since I absolutely hate qte's (quick time events). I'm also not big on cut scene 'heavy' games since they always feel like they're interrupting the action in shooters (some are o.k. but too many ruin the pace in 'action' games- for me).

Far as Kevin's mention of 'stick wiggling'- 'super human jiggling speeds'- well, on another review, a tip I've learned for that is to move 'both' sticks at the same time and you don't have to jiggle both so harshly trying to make it. The game doesn't tell you that though so you only figure that out by experimenting or accidentally.

Another thing I heard on another review is that sometimes the AI in the single player  campaign sometimes doesn't pick up the weapon and when you take them over, the game spawns that weapon's ammo only but you don't have it(weapon) and you hope the AI will kill the boss. That doesn't always happen though, but will surely annoy when it does.

Bottomline, gather your information from multiple sources, that's good advice with anything. Decide what you like and if this offers it and if you're willing to accept the flaws for it's price. I can't suggest what I'd rate this since I haven't played it, though in hating qte's I know this isn't something I'm willing to get since I hate them that much. Some also debate whether Capcom's free dlc is a way they're being nice, or trying to make up for what some are called a bad product. It clearly seems like something you like or you hate with not much middle ground in between.

Heavenly_King 90 pts

Tidal_Abyss Ok, you hate QTEs, but I guess you enjoy good games, or not?  Just because it has one bad thing, it does not make it suck, because it does lots of things really great.    Combat QTEs can be easily avoided if you approach the enemy the right way, or if you have spider-man reflexes lol XD.   I avoid approaching dudes from the front, because they may grab me, so I approach them from the side. Not a big deal really.   There are event QTEs that are unnecesary, but last small time, so they dont bring down the gameplay experience, which is really awesome and intense.

The AI partner will always have the same weapons as you.  So they dont pick weapons, they automatically have the same weapons as you, and that´s it.   The AI partner tries to resemble an online partner, because when you both find a weapon, both of you will pick it up (if both have common sense at least).  Items are character locked, so if with Leon you grabbed something, when you choose Helena for another chapter, she wont have it, because you did not picked it up as her.  It is a way to stimulate people to play the whole campaign as both characters.

If you liked RE5, you like RE6.  RE6 is a lot better.

Tidal_Abyss 244 pts

 Heavenly_King

lol You're giving me more reasons not to buy- I own RE1-5(PC) but 5- like many people (especially on PC) hated the control and quit the game out of frustration/irritation early (and I hated that since I had looked forward to that game for so long at the time, but bad control is a Big turn off).

-Not that a comparison matters- you don't seem to understand how badly I hate qte's, and cut-scene 'heavy' games. I've researched reviews and information on the game and those two points still hold true- and if you'll notice, nowhere did I ever trash the game- but qte's kill it for 'me' and cut scene heavy are just icing on the top.

Enjoy the game.

PC4Me 43 pts

 Tidal_Abyss  Heavenly_King

I doubt I will get it when the PC version comes out, don't like qte's (mindless button mashing) or games that are filled with cut scenes, they break up the gameplay too much for my taste. I don't know what they plan to charge for the PC version, but no way I'd pay $60, even $50 is pushing it if it's got as many of these annoyances as my research into it is telling me- a demo would help a lot, so I/we (other gamers) could see for ourselves, plus qte's on m/kb are more infuriating because they're usually some unusual key and it's worse if you can't change key bindings.

Right now I'm not holding my breath on the game because I can't even remember how far off they put PC's release- that in itself doesn't go over too well, if it's a crappy port on top of it all- they'll lose a lot of their PC sales. A demo though, would help for PC or other gamers on the fence.

P.S. -Tidal- you're right, Re5's control sucked. I love the series but I didn't get too far into 5 before it was uninstalled. Bad control- prevents immersion, it didn't matter I was counting down days until release- had the guide too, knew it would just be a port, but control that bad with m/kb I can't tolerate- though some of my friends on console complained of the same thing- so I guess it wasn't just limited to PC-?
