AU Shippin’ Out October 17-18: Dance Central 3, Skylanders Giants
Dance and rhythm look to be the theme this week. Read on to find out more!
Looks like dancing is the "in" thing this week, but if flailing limbs in front of the television doesn't quite tickle your fancy, perhaps collecting some new characters in Skylanders: Giants will?
Dance Central 3 is the third instalment of the Dance Central series and is made exclusively for the Xbox 360, which utilises Kinect. The game's storyline (yes, it has one) centres around the top-secret Dance Central Intelligence and the return of the previous game's antagonist, Dr Tan. To defeat him, players must learn some crazy dances and bust a move.
Alternatively, PlayStation 3 owners wishing to strut their stuff on the dance floor can grab DanceStar Party Hits later this week, which uses the PlayStation Move to get into the groove. The party game hits Australian shelves October 18 for the PS3.
Skylanders: Giants is the sequel to the 2011's children's toy/game hybrid, Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. The title brings 20 new characters to the game, including figures twice the size--both in-game and in action figure form--of those in the original. Additionally, Activision has said that some of these figures sport a "light technology" that illuminates the figure when it is close to the game's "Portal of Power".
The original Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure boasted connectivity with real-world toys based on the Spyro universe. The game was nominated for three 2012 Interactive Achievement Awards at D.I.C.E. 2012, including nods for Outstanding Innovation, Family Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement in Game Play Engineering.
Skylanders Giants will be available on the 360, 3DS, PS3, PC, Mac, and Wii. Additional characters are available for that game via separate purchase.
Other titles out this week include Doom 3 BFG Edition, Rocksmith, and Harry Potter for Kinect. Check out the full list of new releases below.
