If anyone wants me il be watching IGN reviews until they clear this crap

gouldjw 7 pts

Just read the zeldainformer article about this review. Wow, that is so embarrassing that Tom didn't know how to use the controller with this game. Amazing, did he even manage to get through the whole game being so clueless about how to play it? Must have been a real challenge. I think I'll go play it now. Hope I can remember _not_ to point the controller at the screen like an idiot.

I dont even know y im still on this website, IGN gave this on a ten, and i 100% agree. Wen i first saw this i couldnt belive my eyes this is one of THE greatest games on the wii and Gamespot gives it a 7.5?

um is there some kind of Sony and Microsoft conspiracy going on.

An article on how Tom Mc Shea went through the entire game without using the controls the proper way, and how he still refuses to admit it. An interesting read, which shows how ignorant he is (he points the remote at the screen, thus "re-centering", when it is supposed to be pointed upwards during certains sections). I urge you to read it. Tom Mc Shea needs to admit he used the controls wrong and amend the score and review. I would have no problem with a 7.5 if he made valid points; but right now the way he's scoring it is due to his lack of understanding for the controls. http://www.zeldainformer.com/2011/11/gamespots-tom-mcshea-speaks-about-his-skyward-sword-review.html

millustr8r Posted Nov 19, 2011 12:56 am GMT Oh, NIntendo. Isn't it time the characters actually speak? Why are players still reading subtitles in 2011? --- I assume you haven't played any of the recent sonic games then?

shinrablue 6 pts

Oh Tom, always at the brunt of comment hate. I stopped taking you seriously when you gave infamous 2,7.5.

LOL @millustr8r.. good question.. they cant answer it.. Look at the desert sand .. LOL.. and don't even get started about the textures... if a low budget PC developer, develops a game with such graphics just think how bad it would get bashed...how can people play this at 2011.. though the game play is good as they claim to..

You have to consider the source when reading these reviews. This "reviewer" obviously had a negative bias to this game. Gamespot has increasingly become more inconsistant with their reviews. It's like they're trying to be contraversial or something. Gamespot became irrelevant to me, when it rated grand theft auto 4 a 10/10.

This guy is an idiot.. only 7.5?? Who cares if it's not unlike all the other Zelda games; Zelda is supposed to be like that!

Byrder 5 pts

It seems the 7.5/10 was given because of the reviewer having a possibly broken wiimote...or maybe they disliked wii controls altogether. I'd imagine if the game was given a 360/ps3 controller then the reviewer might have given it a better score, or found something else to take away from the score. It's too bad that many other journalists, who have reviewed the game, gave it extra props for having such great controls. I'm definitely looking forward to the game!

Sabroson 5 pts

The guy was set off negatively because of the bad control, when it was him screwing up. A score so far off the average should be statistically ignored, so dont let this get to you.

this really doesn't look like it's meant for grown-ups...

Just watching the small bits of skyward sword reminded me of a repackaged Wind Waker...maybe they should implement a duck and cover system along with an AK47SU / Red Dot scope ?

Kara_R 5 pts

Sad moment to Gamespot... I wonder if this reviewer has more than 13 years old... Sad..

edt89 5 pts

So I gotta say, I'm still psyched for this Zelda based on reviews I've seen otherwhere in which the sword play is absolutely lauded over as one of the major improvements gameplay wise, regardless of what GameSpot says. More importantly though, I'm even MORE excited about Darksiders 2.....I mean sure it's a GoW / LoZ knock off, but they've managed to do something great with those respective influences, and by the looks of it...DS2 is the future of great Zelda-style gameplay.

IGN-10 Gamespot-7.5 Wow internet game reviewers of the world thanks for having completely skewed opinions of a game I'm considering buying, your making it really hard to decide if I should blow $50.

When Jeff gave Twilight Princess 8.5 there was quite a bit of displeasure among fans as well; myself included. That said, after I beat it, and come to realize that Okami was a comparable if not better game, I came to agree with Jeff's score for TP. I'm not sure if Tom is dramatizing this score just to rock the boat or what, but I won't jump on the hate bandwagon just yet.

They wanna get some PROPER reviewers to review games like Zelda not one dimensional people who only like first person shooters and blood and guts!!

@kdr_65 Stop Complaining on the score and comparing this with Uncharted CoD and Skyrim cuz there not even the same genre and with all honesty Uncharted is a whole another league... Lets get to the point. Why do you even get in on GS if they have the most unpredictable scores i dont think this guys is a troll he did the review really well Zelda hasent changed for good and has crappy controlls i whish it was like before when zelda was like nothing before but i mean thats never gonna hapend with nintendo i lost faith on them since the wii launched. I get why people complain i mean its Wii bunch of kids in this section but really guys grow up its Good Game B u t i t c o u l d b e B E T T E R.

I am not one to use metacritic as a reference point for reviews and reviewers, but in this situation it applies. Anyone looking for second opinion should go to metacritic and read the other reviews of this game. Like with most things in life a second opinion can never hurt, I understand a reviewer has his or her own opinion and if Tom feels the game is a 7.5/10, then that is his personal opinion. I usually take 4 of my favorite sites (including this one) and make my own decision after reading all of them.

Aim4theheads97 14 pts

Im ashamed of all the people believing that the game should get the highest possible score! McShea you gave an excellent review, and i agree with some of your comments on the zelda formula. I still enjoy the games, but they aren't top notch like back in the day. Mr. McShea is not a troll, he is a respected reviewer who is simply giving the facts about the game. i think a game rated 7.5 is worth checking out!

philMcCrevis 200 pts

oml i get so tired of all the hate you gamespot fans levy on these reviewers. Its a subjective process as there exists no objective, scientific means by which to measure quality on video games. Every time a review score is published all i see is complaining from subscribers. It's not the site that makes me not want to return, but all the whining by the subscribers. Please, give it a rest

Dragonknight0 15 pts

I just got tired of Zelda and its repeats. Besides I dont the money to buy a new controller and the game....

i dont know what to think.. ign gave this game a 10.0 i usually trust gamespot a lot more but on this one im not sure.. especially if tom mcshea reviewed it

bALTHar86 15 pts

Massive respect to Tom for this review. It has renewed my faith in gamespot reviews single-handed. It must be really tempting when a massive title like Zelda comes out to just lavish it with praise because that's what the fans want. Be honest, has Zelda made any great leaps since Ocarina? And now they've thrown in fiddly unresponsive controls to boot. I give major kudos to the guy that has the balls to stand up and say 'it's good, bt not great.'

GreyFox81 9 pts

I don't understand why all of you are getting upset. If Tom doesn't think the game deserves a higher score based upon his experience with the game then that's just his opinion. If you are convinced that this game is the greatest ever game to have been released, good for you, go buy it.

ThatTriple 5 pts

He's the reviewer Gamespot deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hate him because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.

Alosjs 5 pts

The Good: Excellent dungeon design A host of worthwhile collectibles Great boss fights Strong visuals. The Bad Troublesome controls (Weird, all the rest of the reviews say the contorls are perfect, did you check your Wii or you don't know how to use one?) Lots of padding (I guess you don't like content.) Predictable formula (What you want? Zelda in space? Zelda goes to visit Mario and have a picnic?) This guy is just a troll, I mean, Nintendo worked very hard to make the controls perfect, you see a lot, A LOT, of people giving 10s and this guy out of nowhere a 7.5. He can have his opinion, but I don't want an opinion, I want someone to tell me the quality of something, no matter what he likes or not. And 7.5 is NOT the quality of this game.

"Skyward Sword stays true to the Zelda formula, carrying many of the same strengths and "weaknesses" that have been present for years" Weaknesses? what weaknesses. It's freakin Zelda, best game series ever, better than that Cod Crap. Heck, even better than Skyrim and Uncharted It's freakin Zelda. IGN did right when it gave this a 10! Gosh Gamestop what happened did'ya girlfriend break up with ya or somethin.

nscroll 6 pts

This is very sad. Gamespot should have given the review to a less biased reviewer, to someone with more gaming background, someone that would really appriciate games of this magnitude. I haven't played the game yet so I don't know if the reviewer is right but from what I read so far from other web sites, this is a great game and well worths a higher mark than the one it received here. Again I believe this reviewer hasn't got a clue of what he is talking about and Gamespot looses a lot of credibility in my book. This was done intentionally I am sure, but the reasons behind it remain unclear. I admit it, I am not the greatest Zelda fan, I played only 4 or 5 Zelda games in my 35 years of existence, but I love video games and I hope when I play this game, it will make me understand the reasons I love being a gamer.

coolman13 5 pts

Eh Gamespot? Out of those 31 reviewd from metacritic 12 are perfect and 13 are 90 to near perfect. Only 4 (not counting yours) of the 31 are under 9 yet you rate it at 7.5?????? Something is wrong here. Edit: make that 32 reviews :)

ThatTriple 5 pts

@linkyshinks Edge is not respectable anymore. The fact is from those 14 perfect scores NINE of them have come in the last 4 years. They are just as bad as IGN now, giving high scores to any old crap just because of the name, wow Rock Band 3 best game ever. Miyamoto has made the same game for 20 years its about time someone called him out on it

theperser 5 pts

i think gamespot thougt hey we gonna show balls and score this down because its always the same, but we all nintendo fans loved zelda always and the other magazines show me that this game is superb and so gamespot today dies for me. bye gamespot.

andres2006 5 pts

the reviewer said te game have "poor controls" this dude its just to used to have a 360 control in his hands any other kind of experience makes him sh#!! in his pants, it sad but gamespot has become the troll of videogames websites

linkyshinks 21 pts

It's not even the fact that Tom's review is so wayward that P's me off, it's the fact that I watched it only to find it included a -major spoiler-, which has totally ruined some aspects of the game for me, and other Zelda fans no doubt. I didn't watch his pathetic assessment in order to have the number of total dungeons disclosed so casually....

gokuofheaven 106 pts

Although i'm not a Zelda fan the art direction in this title looks pretty polished regardless any of the reviews. I may pick this up sometime next year. Cheers.
