Minecraft Xbox 360 update 1.8.2 - eight must-read hints, tips and secrets

Not everything you need to know about the latest Minecraft update can be read in 4J's Minecraft Xbox 360 update 1.8.2. changelog, or even our ultimate guide. There's a wealth of buried treasures to uncover, some of which are, in fact, buried treasure. Here are eight pointers to start you off.

2. Go for the Strongholds

If you want to climb the technology ladder faster, prioritise Strongholds and Villages - they're absolutely littered with chests containing rare artefacts and materials. Villages aren't too hard to find - there's one straight through the main door in Tutorial World (once you've completed the tasks, that is), and you'll discover another village if you head in the opposite direction.

Strongholds, however, take a little more work - they're located underground. A helpful young man of some description has posted a video guide to finding a Stronghold in Tutorial World. Knock yourselves out.

3. Stock up on Ender Pearls

Right now, they're useless, but Ender Pearls will eventually become key to Minecraft's endgame. As of Minecraft PC update 1.9, they can be combined with Blaze Powder to create an Eye of Ender, which can be slotted into something called an End Portal Frame to open a portal to The End, a realm of ultimate darkness which houses an enormous cuboid dragon.
