Microsoft has released a Fable: The Journey demo on Xbox Live Marketplace. It's 1.22 GB in size, is exclusive to Gold subscribers, and contains the tutorial and an early boss battle.
The Journey casts players as Gabriel, a tribesman from Albion's wilder regions who's charged with defending the realm against the insidious Corruption. Where prior games in the series were open world affairs, this one sees you alternating between motion-sensitive control of a horse-drawn cart and dungeon exploration. There's a magic system, also controlled with gestures.
It's a somewhat jarring change of pace for the franchise, but I'm convinced the results are worth the upset. Hopefully you'll agree once you've downloaded the thing.
