iPhone 5 hands on: a guide to the camera's panorama mode

The Telegraph's Head of Technology Shane Richmond demonstrates the panoramic camera feature on Apple's new iPhone 5 handset.

The Apple iPhone 5 is not only thinner and lighter than its predecessors, it come with a host of new features, including a panoramic camera.

The Telegraph's Head of Technology Shane Richmond tested the camera ahead of its official launch on Friday.

"You can take very wide photographs just by holding up the camera and turning it round across the scene in front of you and the software in the phone then stitches the picture together into one very wide image," he said.

When the camera's panorama mode is selected, an arrow appears to guide the user through the process of taking as steady a picture as possible, like the 180-degree one above which was taken by Shane in the video.

According to Apple, the feature is capable of creating a single shot with a resolution of up to 38 megapixels, across a range of up to 240 degrees.
