Fox developing Bad Company TV show?
Hollywood news site says network planning hour-long action-comedy based on EA's shooter series to be written by Alias producer and assisted by Adam Sandler's production company.
Electronic Arts' Battlefield: Bad Company series is not headed to the big screen, but rather the small screen. That's according to Deadline, which reports today that broadcasting company Fox is developing an hour-long action-comedy based on the popular Battlefield spinoff series.
Alias producer John Eisendrath is heading up the effort, serving as executive producer and writer for the series. He will receive assistance from Sony TV and Happy Madison, the production company founded by Adam Sandler (Big Daddy, Bedtime Stories).
On EA's side, DICE executive producer Patrick Bach and EA vice president of entertainment Patrick O'Brien are attached to the project.
The Bad Company TV show will reportedly follow the game's four main soldiers soldiers as they leave military life and transition into the private sector. Trouble, of course, presents itself, and the soldiers must escape the clutches of a shadowy government unit.
An EA representative was not immediately available for comment.
The Battlefield: Bad Company series has been a critical and commercial success for EA. The most recent entry in the series was 2010's Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which won warm reviews upon launch, and sold nearly 6 million copies.
Additionally, Battlefield: Bad Company 3 is rumored to be in development.
A war-based television show? Meh.
Whether this show will be good or not, I don't know. However, every TV show I ever liked that aired on FOX always get canned and the stuff I don't like keep on trucking. I'll wait until it's available completely on Netflix or something.
Could work, but I hope that isn't all they are doing with Bad Company.
I wish DICE would turn Bad Company into the main Battlefield series. Battlefield 3's campaign was awful. Bad Company as the main series is win/win, great MP and a single player component that doesn't feel like put and paste of bits of Modern Warfare.
How bout that lost planet movie?
Meh. The idea of a Bad Company TV series is actually pretty intriguing to me (I love the characters in the games, and the first game had great humor and a fun tone that make sense for television), but focusing on a "band on the run" sort of storyline seems out of place for Redford, Marlowe, Sweetwater, and Haggard. Unless it's supposed to be a direct continuation of the events from the first game that ignores the rather COD-like story from the sequel. In that case, seeing what happens after these boys ran off with their stash might be interesting.
I got a better idea........BRING BACK FIREFLY!
Sounds like it could be pretty funny... Ever see the bf heros videos?
oh no
I don't know about this. In their element, the Bad Company rocks... Take them out and make them civilians? Sounds like another crash and burn idea to me.
EliOli Really? Hags in civilian life would be great. Plus, it says that they are being drawn back into the action. The show isn't just watching them get together for football games.
If this turns out good, they'll only end up cancelling it.
If it turns out crap it will run for at least 5 seasons.
It's the way FOX works unfortunately. They are like a brat-child who's brain can only operate through reverse-psychology.
Must be a CoD on TV this will better than bc2
FasterAgain what?
Pr0ving4Gr0undz FasterAgain I think s(he)'s slow, in the head.
FasterAgain That's EXACTLY what I sound like when I'm drunk.
FasterAgain No thanks. If they did however, they must cut out the blood and profanity so it is suitable for 9 year old children.
Why do you guys hate adam sandler so much. His movies are great.
Nikola-car Great?I would not go that far, but definitely something to keep myself busy when I have nothng to do or are too lazy to play games etc yes.
Nikola-car Last decent movie he did was Mr. Deeds. Loved his stuff before then. Hate his stuff since then.
Nikola-car His movies before click were good when i was a kid. But as i have aged even his old movies seem stupid. I only really like 8 Crazy nights now. . . He needs to do a rauchy R rated movie again, none of this PG shit. Oh wait he did (thats my boy)= fail. fuck it.
-PS he's also bringing Kevin James' career down with his shit movies just like David Spade and Rob Schneider.
TV Show! We'll see how it turns out, but I've doubt it's going to be great!
*reading title*
YES!! This will be aweso--
* " assisted by Adam Sandler's production company. " *
God no. Why. WHY.
Please don't. Just, please don't.
Video game into a movie....FAIL
Video game into a tv show....FAIL
AtomicCowboy
tombraider was the only non-fail so far i know
AtomicCowboy I thought silent hill was pretty good.
Pr0ving4Gr0undz AtomicCowboy resident evil movies were alright, also the tekken movie was pretty good
44montana97 Pr0ving4Gr0undz AtomicCowboy The first RE movie was good. It was nice and creepy. The scene where the zombie is walking on its ankle dragging a sledge hammer. Everything else is just ridiculous now.
And this Adam Sandler is involved here its is a mandate that the new BF show will have following things . Adam Sandler Wearing a dress, Fart and Piss Jokes by the galore, Cameo by the Marlin Brando of your generation Rob Schneider,
and my favorite unfunny jokes on poor people, immigrant, foreigners, etc Way to kill complete interest on a new tv series FX even before its made.
Please don't let Adam Sandler do anything besides fund this. He is SERIOUSLY not funny and is almost pathetic how he's trying to stay funny/relevant in todays cinema.
Jacen22 hahaha, are you mad? AAA publisher cashing in on a AAA franchise... this is a train wreck already. We all know it's going to be crap.
Make Adam Sandler one of the leading characters just to emphasise just how much of a lowest-common-denominator move this is. This could be like his Tropic Thunder... hahahahah
If anyone had any doubts about BF becoming just as vapid and uninspiring a cash cow as CoD.. you will soon have a TV show as your proof.
Even if it wasn't bad, it would still be cliche' as hell. Just hope they would do the humor right.
Is it supposed to be based on BC1 or BC2? BC1 was actually funny & entertaining. BC2 was just generic garbage.
Thermador446 What? BC 2 had some great writing.
Smells like a steaming pile of horse s@#t if I've ever experienced some. Which I have.
Sounds like a fail.
I don't know how well a combat-based action-comedy will be received during a time when our country has been at war for over 11 years.
Yay to Bad Company, boo to probably lousy tv show.
I sense flop .
"Adam Sandler's production company"... oh boy this will suck so muchhhhhhh
I'd rather they just come out with Bad Company 3
Sweet Water You have no chance Haggard XD
*reads that Bad Company might get a TV show*
YES!
*reads that it will be done by Adam Sandlers Production company*
NO!
Well that elation died out quick.
Supperdude9 hehe, LOL
if it was done right then yes. However, if done wrong it could kill the bad company name.
No
Nice idea...if they could actually get it out...which they can't...and they won't...
Fox will just screw it up, it will be cancelled after 4 shows, a huge cult following will ensure a major motion picture deal and it will be voted the best military tv series by the Military Channel. Sound familiar?
Would rather have a Bad Company 3 game or a movie. But a TV show by Fox? Meh...That's my opinion anyways.
Hehe could be fun.
