Darkstalkers Resurrection hitting XBL, PSN in 2013
$15 two-game bundle includes Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and Darkstalkers 3 with online play, high-def graphics, replay sharing.
The Darkstalkers franchise is back. Today at the 2012 New York Comic-Con, Capcom announced Darkstalkers Resurrection, a downloadable two-pack that includes Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and Darkstalkers 3.
The bundle will be available in early 2013 for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network for $15. Darkstalkers Resurrection includes a range of new features including online play, high-definition graphics, replay sharing, a Spectator mode, in-game achievements, a challenge/tutorial mode, and an unlockable archive of concept art.
Online play for Darkstalkers Resurrection takes advantage of GGPO, which promises a "virtually lag-free" experience. Matchmaking has been upgraded, now affording users additional options including region-matching, ping lock, and ping display.
love this deal. played the first and third game to death.
Cool deal for those that want em. I myself, have these on MAME. I will be watching for DS4
I'll be getting this. I love the Darkstalkers series and I only got the first 2 games. So I'll definitely download this so I can play it online in HD. DS4 should be incredible. Hopefully Capcom doesn't screw this up like they did with SF x Tekken.
Tempting for the online play but i'll pass. I want Darkstalkers 4.

^^Darkstalkers 4 teaser. Here's hoping Capcom's not pulling out in the last minute like they did with Megaman.
Tempting. I have nothing that can run Darkstalkers not coated in dust.
DiscGuru101 Darkstalkers 3 is on PSN as a PS Classic.
Never played the franchise before but like the look of it so I think I'll buy it. Worth a try since the characters seem interesting.
I'm not really bothered about playing these games again (I played the Saturn imports for months), but I am really looking forward to a new game in the series. Hopefully it can still capture the charm of the originals.
OH look a game capcom has released before. I would never have expected such a move from the company that is still rereleasing SF 2 ever now and then.
CAPCOM is the best, and I must have this as soon as possible.
Still have my Darkstalker Chronicles for my PSP, if it was Darkstalkers 4 then that would be a different matter
I hope these games are from the arcade version, the PS ports were not good.
alenth
The Dreamcast one was good, though.
Already have these games for the Saturn. Coulda used Vampire: The Night Warrior (Arcade version of Darkstalkers ONE) but unfortunately they weren't included in the collection. Guess I'll skip this one.
Darkstalkers 3 was a game that never got a proper console release outside of Japan (in the Vampire Collection for PS2), the PS1 version was missing frames and such. Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge (DS2) was only for Saturn. As much as I dislike Capcom's current buisness practices, and hate there rehashing, these are acually 2 games that actually deserve a PSN/XBLA release, as long as they're good ports and Capcom don't, well, Capcom it.
I don't want to wait till 2013 for this. We'll all be dead by then D;
Bring back memories
For people saying, why should I buy this. Usually what a company does, they put a remix version of a game, to see how much it sells and if it sells a lot it shows them, that a Darkstalkers 4, is worth there money to make it, while also the money they make from selling the game, would also fund the Darkstalkers 4.
kawaiiflonne And I don't want DS4, especially knowing the possibilities on how Capcom could ruin it.
Strider8009 Well I do agree with you, how Capcom has turned out in 15 years, it would ruin it, while who says the money we spend on Darkstalkers would go into it, look how many people bought Megaman 10 and Capcom gave the fans the middle finger. So I do agree, the logic I said would apply to most companies, but not Capcom
I feel like I've been waiting 15 years for Darkstalkers 4... Oh wait
Why for the XBLA?
demonicchaosxx:
Why for the PSN?
TheArcade demonicchaosxx:
Because the DarkStalkers series was for Psone.
DemonicChaosXX demonicchaosxx: And now it's on Xbox 360... more people get to play it and it becomes exposed to a newer audience. More exposure equals greater sales, higher the sales the better our chances of getting a Darkstalkers 4. Besides having options is a good thing.
If we followed your logic (whatever new IP's appears on said platform stays on said platform) the industry wouldn't be going any where.
I will get this but I would guess everyone wants Darkstalkers 4.
I saw "Darkstalkers: Resurrection", and was thinking "Finally...Darkstalkers 4!"
...Then I saw that it's just a bundle of two games I've already owned for more than a decade, upscaled to HD with online play.
Perhaps this is a value to some. Personally, online play and upscaled graphics are enough for me to re-buy games that (as I mentioned before) I bought over a decade ago. I get behind remakes on occasion, but this just seems like a port with the bare minimum to make it viable for today's market.
I hate how all these sites say "X people listening" You can't listen to text.
DrKill09 Especially when I turned off my Pc's Sound.
Gamespot infos, Y U lie to us?
DrKill09 well, technically you can, if you have certain Window's accessibility features turned on.
Meh. Street Fighter III Online Edition, Jojo Bizarre Adventures, and Marvel vs. Capcom Origin were nothing but cheap, shallow, bare bone cash-ins; and DarkStalkers will be no different. Typical of Capcom.
Strider8009 Don't blame Capcom. Blame people that buy this kinda crap.
Why do i have the feeling that this will be a rushed job? I mean, c'mon, yes, it's online but 15$ on a game that's over 15 years, with only upgraded definition?
Where is the Capcom I knew in the 90's that brought to me Darkstalkers 1 and 3, Pocket Fighter, Rival Schools, Street Fighter Alpha and EX plus, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Star Gladiator and the Versus series and Breath of Fire?
Where is that "They're our fans, so let's take a risk and make a new 2D fighting game/ new Rpg-game, screw if it doesn't sell, at least we have serious fanbases!" Capcom? Why don't you people try to give us your best and make REAL HD VERSIONS, with updated controls and new characters?
I'm sorry for my whining, but I'm just one of those guys who doesn't buy Capcom games (2d fighting and Rpg's) because it's not Capcom anymore but more like Crapcom.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CAPCOM THAT I USED TO KNOW? :)
saosebastiao
djgl242 Now and then I think of all the games they screwed me over!
saosebastiao djgl242
"and now there just somebody that I used to know...."
Awesome! I might actually get this. especially for the online.
Need to play as Jon Talbain again!!!!
I hope this means another Darkstalker game is in our future soon.
SoulsofDark Oh yes, Darkstalkers 4 will be announced in the next Tokyo/E3/ etc game show....
...Annnnnnnnnnnd it's gone. :(
saosebastiao SoulsofDark I think the rumor was that Ono was working on Darkstalkers 4, but he's been worked damn near to death and is convalescent, I believe.
Yomigaeru SoulsofDark That's what you get when you're the only man working on Darkstalkers 4 for the last 15 freakin' years. It's taking its toll, oh, a yup-yup!
Maybe it'll get finished somewhere around the next decade, me thinks?
I own these games, but I will pick this package up when it's on sale.
Hopefully PS+ offers a deal before 2013 for big discount.
I need Darkstalkers 4. C'mon Capcom...
@mickey_mickey48 good luck with that. Capcom goes out of its way to displease its most ardent fans. I want it too btw
mickey_mickey48 They ruined Resident Evil, DMC, Mega Man, and MVC, and DarkStalkers will be next on that list.
Strider8009 mickey_mickey48
How did they ruin MVC?
DemonicChaosXX mickey_mickey48 Oh please. >_>
DemonicChaosXX They left out Megaman despite the fact he used to be Capcom's flagship mascot, they removed tech rolls so now the combo system feels more broken than ever, X-Factor became a problem in the original. They released the 1st MvC3 at $60 then 5 months later they announced an UMvC3 with more characters and deter early adopters.
Then they make us pay for Jill/Shuma and costumes which were already on the disc, granted they did the same thing on SF4 but this doesn't help MvC3's case.
In the end Capcom wound up with a colossal disappointment.
