3. What are the required deliverable assets for a pushdown?

  • Auto-Expand SWF (optional)
  • FLV video (if used)
  • Default JPGs with appropriate call to action

4. Do you have any templates, example FLAs, or testing tools I can use?

Yes we do. Contact your sales representative or adspecquestions@cbsinteractive.com to set up a call to go over templates and set up.

5.Is there any options for pushdowns when flash files aren’t available?

Yes. We can accept static JPGs for the collapsed and expand states. Imagery for the close button must be included in the expanded state in the upper right corner.

6. What versions of flash and action script do you accept?

We accept all versions of flash and actionscript including AS 2 and 3 and Flash 9, 10, and 11. Set up for each flash version varies.

7. Are there templates for other sizes besides 970×66?

At this time we only provide a template for the 970×66 standard but the
template can be resized for other creative sizes.

8. Should I create separate SWFs for the expand and collapsed state?

We accept seperate SWF for collapsed and user expand states, as well as an optional auto expand state.

9. Do I need to write my own timer to activate the pushdown and collapse animations?

CBSi controls the timing of the transition between collapsed and
expanded states. Additional timers do not need to be added to the flash
file and will cause errors if added.

10. Do I need to create my own pushdown / collapse animations in the SWF?

No pushdown animation is required. By default the pushdown will snap open and closed at required time.

11. Will I be able to see the Pushdown animation locally in the SWF?

The Pushdown animation is added when the seperate SWFs are assembled so the animation will not be viewable locally, but can be viewed in the Pushdown QA tool you’ll recieve during the kick off call to go over correct set up.

12. Do you support Age Gates in CBSi hosted creative?

At this time age gates are not supported for our in-house product. If
you have content that requires an age gate please work with an approved 3rd party vendor. Current approved 3rd party vendors are
Pointroll, Media Mind, and DoubleClick.

13. Do I need to use the CBS tracking component for set up if this is going be trafficked to a 3rd party?

No. 3rd party pushdowns should follow the requirements of the
respective 3rd party.

14. Where can I find more information about building pushdowns?

A kick off call is always required before building out but documentation can be found here:
http://www.cbsinteractive.com/advertise/ad-specs/cbsi-hosted-flash-setup/#as2_component

15. When should I use a 3rd party rather than the CBSi Hosted Pushdown?

A 3rd party vendor should be used if any of the following are creative requirements:

  • Age gate
  • Multiple videos that require tracking
  • Ads that need to pin open on user click during the auto expand

16. I have more questions who can I contact?

adspecquestions@cbsinteractive.com

17. Can I animate the transition between the collapsed and expanded state?

No animation between transitions is needed.

18. How much time does the transition take to animate between the collapsed and expanded state?

By default the expand and collapse animation takes 1/10 of a second.
However this can be adjusted as needed to suit the creative on request. Contact adspecquestions@cbsinteractive.com for more information.

19. What aspects of the pushdown are controlled on the hosting end rather than in Flash directly?

  • Whether the ad auto expands or is only click to expand
  • Duration of auto expand
  • Frequency Cap
  • Z-index
  • Cookie Duration
  • Length of pushdown and collapse animation

21. How do I add exit links?

Exit links should be set up using the following format:

cbsi.exit ( exitNumber , " description " , [ target, [ url ] ] )

22. How do I add subloads?

Subloads are not supported for CBSi hosted Pushdowns. All content should be loaded into the Base, Expand, or Auto FLAs, with the exception of FLVs, which should be sent separately.

23. Is there a "pushup" function?

No, the correct function to collapse the ad is
cbsi.collapse ( )

24. Can I use an event listening to track a video ending playback and trigger collapse?

Yes. Contact adspecquestions@cbsinteractive.com for more information.

25. I’d like to create new functionality that I can’t find any documentation on, will it work?

Probably not. We can set up a test page to try out any undocumented functionality but cannot provide resources to help troubleshoot any issues encountered.

Video

27. How do I implement Video? Do I need to use my own Video Player?

Video for CBSi hosted pushdowns is implemented using the CBSi Video Component. This component works in conjunction with the CBSi tracking component to provide trackable video playback.

28. Where do I find the CBSi Video Component?

The CBSi Video Component is downloaded with the CBSi Tracking component which can be found here:
http://www.cbsinteractive.com/advertise/tracking_component_instructions_1.php?tag=content;margin-right

29. Do I embed the video directly in the SWF?

No. Separate FLVs should be included with the other assets delivered.

30. Do you support streaming video?

Yes. With approval we can support streaming video. Please contact adspecquestions@cbsinteractive.com for more information about approval. Set up for streaming video is the same setting up progressive download video in the CBSi tracking component.

31. Can I have multiple videos?

Multiple videos, though allowed, are not recommended. At this time we cannot provide separate tracking information per video. Video impressions and interactions will be reported as an aggregate total for all videos.

32. What Video Controls are supported?

Once the Video component is loaded in you will find the following pre-made control buttons loaded into the Library:

  • Play / Pause
  • Replay
  • Mute / UnMute
  • Stop

33. Will I be able to view my video playing back in my ad locally?

Yes if set up correctly video will appear in the local SWF file.

34. I’ve set up the Video component correctly but the video is not appearing. What should I do?

For best performance the Video Component should not be nested in a movie clip and should have it’s own layer. If your set up follows those guidelines and you continue to see issues please e-mail adspecquestions@cbsinteractive.com

35. How does audio muting and unmuting work?

The CBSi Tracking component will handle the behavior of mute and unmute for video files. By default audio will be muted during playback of the ad when it auto expands. Audio will be unmated during user expand or if they select the unmute button.
