Mass Effect 3 Omega DLC release date announced

1200 MP for your first encounter with a female turian

Mass Effect 3's Omega DLC pack is the most extravagant yet, according to executive producer Mike Gamble - fully "double the size" of the next largest pack, Leviathan. It slated for Xbox Live release on 27th November, and will cost 1200 MP.

As detailed by Eurogamer, Omega's story is that of the Mass Effect 3: Invasion prequel comics, in which one General Petrovsky conquers the Omega space station on behalf of the Illusive Man.

Players will team up with ousted ruler cum squadmate Aria T'loak to take the station back. T'loak is no angel either, mind, so a Renegade/Paragon plot split seems likely at some point. Also on the cards: your very first in-game glimpse of a female Turian.

We can expect new enemies, too, perhaps including the Cerberus Dragoon from the recent Retaliation DLC. Excerpts from an earlier version of the Omega script can be found on the Mass Effect 3 disc - read a draft plot summary below. Apparently, the events of the DLC were once meant to be a part of the main campaign.

Aria tells you that Omega is now under a blockade from Cerberus. Since a direct attack didn't work, Cerberus is now trying to starve Omega into submission by blockading supply ships coming in through the regular Omega relay. The level's appearance will change to reflect this - the Afterlife has gone quiet, the music is off, the flashing lights are gone, maybe a soup kitchen has taken over the dance floor. Aria requests that you steal into the blockade and board the command ship. Take down the blockade so Omega can be resupplied.

As punishment for breaking the neutrality pact, Cerberus launches an attack against Omega. The enemy is attempting to destroy Omega's shields, which will allow asteroids and meteors to smash into the station. You must repel the assault and ensure the shield remain operational.

Will you buy it?

  1. I wonder if they've got the Adjutants working (Omega comic), it wouldn't really make sense to just get rid of them entirely.

  2. If anything over 3000 Microsoft points I prob. Will think twice about getting it.

  3. It's 1200 points for EA's true to form business practice of hoiking out good on-disc content and selling it on the sly. Their Renegade points must be maxed out at this juncture, surely?

I'll be getting it regardless. My money, my choice, and seeing as I bought all the other Mass Effect content and enjoyed it I'm inclined to overlook EA's troublesome business acumen...again.

Referenced before/obvious dlc choice - I certainly wouldn't say that they took it off the disc - it's on omega, they've got the place pretty much mapped out well and texture wise it wouldn't take long to whip something up. Sure EA will overcharge and add co-op to everything, but I've yet to see them obviously tell companies to withhold content. Like R* Norths Johnny Klebitz and Luis Lopez, the dlcs were hardly 'hoiked out' but they were certainly referenced mid game - the best way to do dlc in my view.

  5. Ah yeah. Omega sounds awesome.
