The word on the grapevine is that Microsoft will release the new Xbox 360 dashboard update on 26th October, alongside the Spotify-esque Xbox Music service and Windows 8.
Available on Windows Phone, Windows 8, and Xbox 360, Xbox Music will allegedly be a free streaming service supported by ads, and will allow you to store music and playlists on the cloud, a feature known as "SkyDrive". Xbox Music apps are planned for iOS and Android devices, but won't be available at launch.
Microsoft announced a second round of beta testing for the next Xbox 360 dashboard update at the backend of August. Here's a provisional and by no means exhaustive list of forthcoming dashboard features.
- Internet Explorer for Xbox
- Recommendations and ratings
- Pinning and favorites
- Enhanced category search and discovery features
- Voice search (in specified markets)
Ta very much, sources close to the Verge.

A porn site is reportedly optimising for IE on Xbox, so I would imagine as long as your account has no parental settings enabled, you'll be able to browse whatever you want. Cue a Daily Mail shock story from some clueless parent demanding that MS block access to everything for everybody because they can't be arsed setting up the parental settings.
IE on Xbox would fail hard if it was as useless as the YouTube app, which has barely any content on it.
Xbox Music sounds quite intriguing, but would it be another paid subscription on top of Gold?

Still annoyed about getting ads on a service we pay for.

Thanks for that, I posted after not reading the article properly, again!
Ads are annoying, but if you don't let them influence you, they've wasted their money and that's a small victory.

True that. I never let adds influence me. I Just do it. Because I’m worth it. Simples. I’m lovin’ it.

I have the beta for the dashboard and I have to say that it is not that good, Internet explorer doesn't have flash, not sure if its just because its a beta or because its xbox?
Either way hope the full version is better and can't wait for smart glass

I've also been on the "new" dash for a while. I'm not allowed to say anything due to the NDA though.....

If they are using the same system as is in Windows8 it may have flash but it uses a white list from MS for security purposes.
As for adverts...of course they are going to need to, £40 a year would not cover the amount of music you could listen to, I assume there will continue to be the usual Xbox Music Pass that will allow you to be advert free for £8.99 a month as it is now.

I have been hearing for a while now that Flash player is nearing the end of its life, and adobe won't be updating it. But it could all be a load of Bo@@&£!s we'll have to wait and see.
