Ubisoft teases 'big' Splinter Cell announcement
French publisher reveals teaser image depicting what appears to be lower portion of Sam Fisher's face, beckons community to "like" page to reveal more.
Ubisoft is gearing up to make a "big" Splinter Cell-related announcement. The official Facebook page for Splinter Cell was updated today with a stylized piece of art depicting a portion of what appears to be series protagonist Sam Fisher's face, and a message beckoning the community to "like" the image to reveal more.
No further information is available.
In June, it was reported that Ubisoft was in talks with Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures to make a movie out of the Splinter Cell franchise. At the time, it was believed that Paramount was the frontrunner for the project.
The image in question may or may not pertain to the Splinter Cell movie, but what is known is that a new entry in the game series is due out next year. Splinter Cell: Blacklist was announced during the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo over the summer. This game is due out during spring 2013 for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 with Kinect support.
who cares metal gear ground zero will put splinter cell and sam fishy to shame
Albaficas "Sam Fishy" is the best and most funny thing I have seen you post. If only you weren't such a troll... You are actually quite amusing.
put Ironside in the role of fisher again, and please make him give solid snake a run for his money again.
PETERAKO snake was-is-will always ------->>>>>>>>>> sam fishy just deal with it and suck it up
Maybe it's announcing that they haven't completely re-written and screwed over the character of Sam Fisher they so meticulously set up in the first 3 games.
Am I the only one who remembers at the end of SC 1 him fighting tooth and nail to not have to assassinate President Nikoladze because he wasn't "some damn political assassin", and felt it was wrong to meaninglessly kill people.
Well judging by the blacklist trailer, we see him kill about 18 people in the span of 2 minutes. Way to not sell out your characters there Ubi in order to pander to casual gamers.
@BuBsay Clearly those people had it coming to them. The mind of Sam Fisher works in mysterious ways. Do not question him. He will kill your ass.
It better be them announcing that Michael Ironside is returning as the voice of Sam!
Kr3isen They have a different voice actor because this Splinter Cell uses motion-capture technology that requires a younger actor who has to provide the voice. As Michael Ironside is too old he cannot provide the voice. However it could turn out like Hitman Absolution where David Bateson wasn't providing the voice but that changed and he now is.
@BCFOX @Kr3isen Ok, so other than being cheap bastards what's stopping them from doing just plain old voice to lip readings? I've been playing games long enough that I don't really care if the voice matches the lips.
SeAzhrei
100% agree. Look no further than Darth Vader...
Kr3isen
I was thinking the exact same thing
Sam fisher is demond miles. Dum dum dddddddddduuuuuuuuummmmmmm!!!!
I looks like a concept art or a still from a 2D animation or one of those motion-comic things.
Either way, the announcement should be that they are going to actually make a good game for once - that actually emphasises stealth.
Anyone other than me notice that Sam Fisher seems to get younger in every new game?
I kinda wish this was some huge twist Ubisoft have planned, like this new Sam Fisher isn't really The Sam Fisher, after all he could be just a proxy, I mean this is a spy game right? Right? Too bad thats not likely they did state they needed someone who could do both motion cature and voice...
@GhostHawk196 Just come out and say it. You want there to be a Liquid & Solidus Fisher don't you? ;)
GhostHawk196 I hear you. But them saying it wouldn't work having one actor as a voice over and another as the motion cap is ridiculous, There's NO technical reason for this not being possible. It is just stupid and defies all common sense.
Be hilarious if no-one liked it and it just stayed as an old mans stubbly lips..
I'm quite looking forward to the film personally, but that's because I've always loved Splinter Cell and am a guy that enjoys his movie-films!
If it sucks it's expected.. set the bar low and it can only be good :D
warhawk-geeby
Movie-films? Aren't they the only type of films/movies?
Splinter Cell is becoming a joke. Sam Fisher is aging and maturing in reverse, and that alone makes it tough to take seriously. On top of that, the story was laughable in Conviction. Resident Evil taught us about a game trying to be something it isn't, hopefully Ubisoft will see that and save the franchise before it's too late.
thereal-15-cent Agreed 100%
its solid snakes lips. cmon ^^
Ohhh...Spllinter Cell....I thought we were in for a treat for another 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' game.
I scrolled down and it looks like pretty much everyone feels the same. I'm sorry, Ubisoft, but it's time to let Splinter Cell rest in peace and look to new horizons.
Michael Ironside or GTFO. This series really went downhill after Chaos Theory. Why not just make a new main character or even a new franchise?
The big announcement this new SP game is somehow tied to Black Ops 2 story wise and this game will serve as a prequel. The direction Ubisoft is talking this game I wouldnt be surprised if they pulled it off.
its not a big announcement, its just a promotional post on a facebook page, companies do it all the time.
also why do websites get so excited about games turning into movies, we all know that they never do, and if by some chance they do they're gonna suck.
The big announcement should be that they're using Michael Ironside again.
Beaten by like 50 people but still, I had to say it.
Maybe the secret is that all this Blacklist footage up until is just a big joke, and Ironside really is still voicing Sam, and SC is still a stealth game, and Conviction was just a drug induced dream that Sam experienced at the hands of 3rd Echelon and now he has to wake up and realize he's on the run, his daughter and his best friend are dead and we get to play real Splinter Cell again.
I would die a happy man.
Seriously Ubi. Crazy as that is, it's no crazier than turning SC into the joke its fast becoming. I'll pay a higher price tag for the final product. I'll even buy dlc, if you'll just retcon the mess that was Conviction and bring back the real Sam Fisher
foxrock66 Amen to that. Although, to be fair, my Double Agent playthrough worked out beautifully without killing his best friend ;p
foxrock66
"just a big joke" Well, it is due to be released on April Fools day... Blacklist will be remembered as a joke by anyone who played the first four games.
foxrock66 Man, that's one big theory XD
It's probably a stupid season pass for Blacklist.
Would love if they went back to the old splinter cell, but im pretty sure its just going to be another conviction, which was basically call of duty with some stealth, and was a serious letdown.
fobbs69 I dont think you have seen the other clips, the devs have sid you can clear levels without killing people, also said that some parts youl be forced to kill...otherwise you aproach the missions as you please ;)
The-FIB fobbs69 im sick of this "optional stealth" every game has now -_- more options are not always better -_-
snake8877 fobbs69 But if thats your logic, then the first splinter cell game and the second one you must have hated, cus it gives you the choice as well....i understand your point, but i also understand why the devs would want to give you that other option as well....not everyone likes stealth but love the story in the S.Cell games...either way, i will enjoy this game, as it looks like a return to form :)
The-FIB snake8877 fobbs69 yeah there was the option but it wasent easy. Thats my point ,nowedays its just too easy to grab a gun and kill everyone -_- back in the day u could do this but it was going to be very dificult so it kinda "forced" stealth
Splinter Cell is really meh. So this news doesn't do anything for me...
The secret is really just that Splinter Cell was just another sequence of dreams in Desmond's mind programmed by the Templar Society.
Probably just another game...
Is it that all the footage we have seen of blacklist was just a big joke and Michael Ironside is actually in it? And that conviction was one lovely dream Sam had and now he has to wake up to the harsh realities that he is on the run and his daughter and best friend are dead?
Cuz that would be awesome
:)
A "big" announcement? All going to be about the big set pieces and cinematics I bet. Although there might be some gameplay under the hood somewhere.
Pretty sure Sam was ready to retire in Chaos Theory, it's time we get a new character, especially if the voice actor is gone. This reluctance to hang on to the same guy is going to stagnate the series. Total lack of character development
couchtater12345 Unfortunately, it's been years since there has been a real successor to the Chaos Theory experience.
cephas90 couchtater12345 SC:CT was one of the greatest games last gen and the series has nose dived off a cliff since then... Bit like Muse after Blackholes and Revelations really.
I am sam fisher and Im an action hero.
senseless_dj I am Solid Snake and I saved the world more times than you :-)
lol
probably some mobile game or a vita title.......but i pray and hope that it's conviction being released at last for PS3.....now that ME1 is coming to PS3...
mstrchf12 A Vita title would be cool
