good comparison on EA to Nintendo, Nintendo does reuse the same ip franchise but they spread them so far apart by the time we want another game of that particular ip its years or a console after. EA comes out with a New game for the same ip every single year which kills the longevity of that franchise

Ok I have to ask.  Why the heck does the IE9 ad show a bunch of stuff that have nothing to do with your actual web browsing experience? I'm sure it will be a cool interface but avengers is going to look epic in any browser.

I'm excited you have a podcast again- one request is to watch your language, I don't mind some words but very frequent F-words from Ryan pottmouth Davis is not enjoyable to me.  If you will watch this I will tune in.  Also please make available on iTunes for podcast download please.

Another great show guys! Ryan Davis is not a fanboy. He is loud, genuine, offensive, intelligent, funny, and a gaming journalist veteran. Ryan sniffs out the bs and calls you out on it. His views are different from Tom's and Peter's views, which takes the discussion to new places. Topics are discussed in greater detail and more importantly with differing opinions. This show would suck if everyone was constantly patting each other on their backs. Mr. Davis is an awesome addition to Quoted For Truth and I hope to see him again next week.

I wish every year we had new Ip's.

When I think about how I enjoyed Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Dead Space, Gears of War and inFAMOUS when they first came out; I just can't resist wanting a new IP.

As far as the Cliff Bleszinski dream team, I'd like to see him team up with Shinji Mikami. The face power fo Cliffy B might help Mikami's brilliant games sell. The true dream team, if it is not one to many flies in the ointment, is to add Keiji Inafune. The arguments had could possibly create the best genre defining gameplay and level design of this generation.

I don't buy FPSs for the single player...but I DO have to pay the full $60 for a game I only play half of

lanasrj 8 pts

as for BF3, yeah it's a great game, when it's running correctly which isn't even up to the use.  Glitch-orgy

ABEzilla116 496 pts

lanasrj If you buy a Call Of duty title to not play multiplayer, you're pretty much wasted $60. I can't stand COD multiplayer, that's why I don't buy the games.

No hope for a Wolverine part 2. Wolverine 2 would have been freaking awsome!!

Korgamer84 108 pts

i think re6 had lots of tension. again this is just another opinion. But i think capcom had to change the gameplay to make it execute well with the story. again these people haven't are comparing resident evil 6 to other resident evil game. When they should be looking at this game objective compare to other games.

ABEzilla116 496 pts

Korgamer84 They made it very clear from the beginning. Only Leon's game would be horror and yet people expected the whole game to be horror.

Chaos_Dante_456 234 pts

Korgamer84 Even with that being said there are many other games that do what it's trying to do better at least game-play wise.  Even on it's own merit RE6 is still just a mediocre game that I probably would have passed by had it not been "Resident Evil" in name. It does do a good job of creating a lot of tension though.

Probably would have been better as a new IP. I can understand people's frustrations. Part of the purpose of a "series"  is for there to be something there reminiscent that long time fans can enjoy otherwise there's no point to there being sequels other than name recognition.

Syndicate was screwed out the gate. Even though it was a really fun game with amazing co op, people never gave it a chance. Whether it was the old syndicate fans or the new FPS fans, everyone felt either lukewarm about it or had a bad taste in their mouth without giving it a fair chance. If you haven't played it, give it a try.

xgalacticax 188 pts

I buy Call of Duty for the single player only (and co-op). There you go!

ABEzilla116 496 pts

xgalacticax For $60, that's pretty steep.

Great video. I've never enjoyed watching people simply talking about games this much. I'll be sure to tune in regularly.

I just want to know why EA has done nothing with the "Mutant League" brand.

That makes me a sad panda.

I've said some bad things about Cliff but ultimately I still respect him.  I think he is a little cocky but he has done some great things for the game industry and hopefully he comes back.

The reason why Syndicate was a failure has nothing to do with the IP.  It has everything to do with EA's obsession with FPS s**t.  They pissed all over the Syndicate name with that.  You want a good Syndicate?  Make it isometric 3D strategy like everyone wanted it and don't be such arrogant prix that you totally ignore the gaming community's reaction. Otherwise just sell it to Take-Two and give it to Firaxis. That's when you'll get a smash hit out of it.

leviathanwing 187 pts

startman_1999 xcom is doing that and its still got its haters and may still be a bad game... isometric doesnt make the game.  and some fps turn out like half-life and deus ex.

startman_1999 58 pts

leviathanwing Isometric was the original game's formula and that's what fans of that IP love.  Even better now with 3D isometric like XCOM, which would solve the visibility issues the original had.  Haters are gonna hate. From all the gameplay footage that's been released and after playing the demo, there is absolutely ZERO chance of it being bad. Sure it may have its initial flaws, but I guarantee you it's going to explode in success.

As for Half-life and Deus Ex.. you can't compare those rare gems to the repetitive trite FPS titles that EA and Activision keep spewing. They've lost their balls after the financial failure of original titles like Mirror's Edge met. Someone at EA needs to realise that isometric strategy isn't obsolete. Maybe XCOM will help with that...

My dream partnership for Cliffy B would be From Software. Give the some kick-ass to the boring/nonexistent characters and story.

johnnyauau 9 pts

I understand from the Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Tom's review why IPs don't last long. Everyone has their valid points but at least it's not that personal. The exception is ... I don't know the company name but they make the Final Fantasy games and Monolith Software that made the Xeno games.

abHS4L88 1773 pts

 johnnyauau

Square-Enix, and actually Xenoblade is a different IP from Xenosaga, Xenogears. Monolithsoft originally named it Monado (since that's the name of the sword) but decided to go with Xenoblade as an homage to the creator of Xenogears/Xenosaga.

Actually Capcom still has Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry even MegaMan lasted really long. Konami has Metal Gear and Castlevania, and Ubisoft has Rayman.

If Sony doesn't bring down the price soon, the vita will not succeed.

abHS4L88 1773 pts

 jose2390

Dropping the price is not happening because Sony is still selling it at a pretty big loss, what they need to do is give the Vita a compelling library to justify spending $250 on a handheld console that can give you that home console experience.

ABEzilla116 496 pts

abHS4L88  jose2390 Well, do I have news for you... SONY UK boss confirmed it for next year. I don't feel like he was supposed to say it, more like he let it slip. But yes, it will have a price cut according to SONY of UK.

I would imagine that would hurt Holiday sales.
