FIFA 13 sells 4.5 million
Five-day global sales of EA's newest soccer sim catapult it to "biggest video game launch of 2012" after moving 1.23 million in first 48 hours in UK; grabs record for most simultaneous users of any EA game.
Footy fever has swept across the world. Electronic Arts announced today that FIFA 13 sold 4.5 million copies across the globe during its first five days, up 1.3 million units from FIFA 12's first-week sales of 3.2 million. The publisher claims this represents the "biggest video game launch of 2012" as well as the most lucrative sports game launch in history.
FIFA 13 released in the United Kingdom on Friday, September 28, and sold 1.23 million copies in that region during its first 48 hours. Last week, EA announced that first-day sales in North America surged 42 percent to 353,000 copies.
In addition to breaking sales figures, FIFA 13 also reached a new peak online usage milestone. According to EA data, September 30 was the busiest day for any title in EA history, with 800,000 users simultaneously playing the new soccer game.
FIFA 13 still has work to do if it wants to catch up to its predecessor, FIFA 12. That game has sold more than 10 million units as of February 2012. The entire FIFA series has sold over 100 million copies life-to-date.
It has been a historic year for EA Sports titles. First-week sales of Madden NFL 13 were up 8 percent to a high-definition era record 1.65 million, while NHL 13 skated to a franchise-best 491,000 in sales during its first week.

I never play games that offer me something I can do in real life (without getting into trouble), so I never understand why sports games sell so much. Especially since one game doesn't seem much different than the one that was released last year. As odd as it may seem, my particular taste in video games isn't shared by everyone else.
I went and bought this one... purely based on the fact that I skipped out on FIFA 12... the next FIFA game I will buy will be FIFA 15 lol
And Resident Evil ships 4.5m units.
Oh great, this means a new round of FIFA hack is coming too, last one stolen $120 from my account, and left 3 achievements. Hell I don't even like sports game.
that mean they earn around 270.000.000 US$$$$ that a lot of money with my copy as well coz im going to buy it in few hours. damn FIFA!!!
Go FIFA - my son was going to wait until Xmas but then Game offered the 99p plus 2 selected trade in titles deal. He had 2 from the list ( quite a long list and not all new stuff either e.g. one of the ones he traded was Sims 3 ) so happy lad he is!!
Last one i bought was fifa 98 :D playstation 1, my first match i won 52-2 :D
Expanding the titles by including the KSA league is one added reason for people from ME to buy this game over PES which lack licence.
on the other hand the fame is amazing
Take the licenses out of the equation, and there is no reason to buy FIFA over PES.
TheCyborgNinja So not the case!! PES, whilst a good game is lagging behind a bit!
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loving this edition over last years even though this edition is a refinement of sorts..
4.5
Fifa Rules!Pes-Ucks
madkingdom no dude you are total blind .. sorry ... try PES and than you know who is Ucks !!!PES only problem is the lack of licence ...& FIFA has a big fame & commercial like (Apple) ... :-D
HAMODA madkingdom PES is not on the same league as FIFA, even if you can not cope with it. Just like Real Madrid vs Ajax yesterday.
this series out every year..... stop!
soccer is the best sport in the world. FIFA is HORRIBLE game though it doesn't even WORK half the time. Screw EA ..
Boudii its football ,not soccer !!! :-)
Boudii Has worked for me all the time since '98!
For me, pes is always best over fifa.
This is my least liked sport. I'll play anything else besides this sport.
Mr_Big_Boss Then don't comment on it.
?here are many soccer junkies that play this EA garbage...
FIFA sales article Gamespot.com?
This is almost as bad as a kick in the soccer balls.
the greatest sport in the world deserves a great video game counterpart.
Good it deserves it, its a great game. They do everything right that Madden does wrong.
Soccer's for girls.
Should just call it "FIFI" and be done with it.
DrKill09 I don't like those games but all the same your comment is so stupid it made me laugh, thanks!
DrKill09 First its not soccer, its football, and its the worlds most popular sport, and the most important sport in the world, only americans play that shit of American football, and if you thinks its for girls, then you crearly havent played, play one match against a real team and you will get violated....
PsV1710 DrKill09 He means in USA the rest of the americans in the continent really love football!!!!
PsV1710 DrKill09
I always see people say how bad our football is, and yet how come soccer players, who are supposed to be such great athletes, are only qualified to play ONE position, and that's place kicker? Listen, don't sell us on the popularity of the game. We KNOW it's popular. Our problem is with the game itself, and that there's not enough elements we enjoy in sports present in it. The message I keep getting is "how dare you not like this game". Why is it so important to the rest of the world that the United States plays soccer. And yes, I call it "soccer", because George Washington is on my money. People came to this country so they wouldn't have to play it.
DrKill09 I HATE N.IGGER LIKE YOU
DrKill09 Brits will persecute you for that comment
y3ivan DrKill09 "Brits will persecute you for that comment".
and south american will burn you at the stake for the blasphemy
Impressive.
what did u spect...is the world's greatest sport.
alberth123123
You're right. It IS the world's gayest sport.
DrKill09 alberth123123 are you a rugby player or something?
alenth DrKill09 alberth123123 Two words... World Cup, no wait two more... Champions League, hey some more... Copa America, Copa Libertadores, EURO, LFP, EPL, Serie A, ... Damn football rules
DrKill09 alberth123123
then why are you even reading this colum any how?
alberth123123 It's by far the world's most popular sport. Whether it's the greatest... hmmm...
Getbacktogaming alberth123123 whaaa i thought cricket was the worlds most popular sport. or at least somewhere in the top 3
xwestsdeaznx Haven't you heard? ICA 13 (international cricket association) sold 10 million units in the first hour after it's release on consoles and PCs!!! LOL No but seriously cricket is very popular in terms of number of viewers (probably number 2 or 3) but only in a few select countries. India is one of those countries it counts for a lot of viewers given India's population... : D
Getbacktogaming alberth123123 Can't really think of another sport that takes as much athletic ability, skill and strategic/teamplay... my judgement is slightly clouded because I like the sport, but most other sports don't have "everything."
JimmeyBurrows You're right it has a neat combination of athletism, skill and strategy. I just find it sooo slow though... I don't need a score of 60-100 like football or basketball to be entertained but all the same it takes forever to cross the field and as much as it's an amazing sport to play... I find it sooo boring to watch. Anyways, that's just my feeling about it. I'm canadian so I'm totally biased. HOCKEY ALL THE WAY!!! What sport combines FIGHTING to skating, athletism, strategy and skill???? LMAO
Last FIFA I played was back on the Super NES. That was a good game though I must admit.
Last Fifa I bought was 2005. I might give this a try when it drops at around 25-30 euros
Dafuq???
Go Detroit Lions!
