Office of Financial Aid

Holy Cross offers a program of financial assistance to those students who are eligible and qualify. Financial assistance may be offered in the form of scholarships, grants, assistantships, loans, and employment. Awards are based on academic performance, demonstrated need, and the availability of funds, along with the required filing of a student's Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). Approximately eighty percent of our students receive some form of financial aid. The Office of Financial Aid will be glad to discuss how a student's particular needs can be met.

Loans provide students with the opportunity to borrow against future earnings. Several loan programs supported by the Federal Government are available on the basis of financial need. Work/study opportunities on campus make it possible for the student to defray the cost of their education through part-time employment.

All students are expected to contribute to their education. All financial aid awards are considered supplemental to the contribution of the family and the student. To be eligible for financial aid, including Federal funds, a student must: be accepted into the School, be enrolled in a degree program, be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, be in good academic standing and make satisfactory academic progress as outlined by School and Federal standards, and complete all necessary applications on a timely basis. All forms are available in the Office of Financial Aid.

The major functions of the Financial Aid Office at HCHC are:

1.  Award and disburse funds in conjunction with the Finance Office.

2.  Report Financial Aid at the institutional, state and federal levels.

3.  Provide an open-door policy to assist students and parents (if applicable).
