I wrote into Nintendo offering to say "I am a gamer but don't own a 3DS." They didn't want to run with that one.

I went and saw that Nintendo advert, and I think people are just overreacting. The name of the add campaign is "Play as you are" which kind suggest that when the "celebs" say "I'm not a gamer, but with my 3DS I'm a coin collecting genius" or whatever, that Nintendo are trying to shelve the term gamer, because they think games are for everyone and those people can play what you want. You don't need to be a gamer to enjoy games etc... But instead the gaming community has jumped and lashed out again thinking that Nintendo are saying gamers aren't cool.

I find it annoying when gamers don't like being put under stereotypes, but now when someone tries to push past that stereotyped name they get angry because they think Nintendo trying to distance themselves from that stereotype.
