Christina Aguilera recently sat down with The Insider to chat about her new album Lotus, which she assured fans will showcase her well-known powerhouse vocals.

"I'm able to really sing vocally on Your Body while still keeping it fun and fresh and sort of pop -- people love that," she said about the first single off her seventh studio album. "It's one level of the record. It's a very multidimensional record, full of layers and love and you know, there's a Lotus intro that sets it all up and gives out the tone from the second you put out the record. It is all about vocals. The first thing you hear are just vocals on the CD -- which is really important for me coming off The Voice, to inspire that next generation of raw, great talented vocalists."

Christina also reflected on her often risk-taking career choices, specifically, her sixth album Bionic, which didn't receive the same critical and commercial success as her past albums.

"Gosh, for Bionic it was amazing, that was an experimental record that will surpass time -- maybe it was too ahead of its time for certain people," she said. "But music people, they really really get my records and understand that I'm constantly evolving and growing, and so to come full circle now, it's all about embracing everything that I love."

As for stepping down from her hit show The Voice to pursue her creative endeavors, Christina said that she owes it to everyone to step away for awhile in order to be the best mentor she can be.

"I've been out there working hard for a long time, so this [Lotus] is a celebration of me -- I need to fulfill my creative soul again," she said. "I need to step away for a second so that maybe I can come back in the future ... I need to express myself so that I can come back and be a better coach, and give the best that I can to my team. It wouldn't be fair to my team if I didn't take a break for a moment and gain new experiences and new knowledge, and a new love for being out there."

Check out the video to hear how her son Max has influenced her new record, and why at just four years old, he's already a "little player."

Lotus comes out November 13.
