Tom Baker returns to 'Doctor Who'... in telephone commercials

‘Yeeeeees, I knew you’d be surprised!’ intones the Doctor, encouraging viewers of his TV show to use a certain telecommunication company.

Surprised? Not really, because despite the use of unlicensed BBC set designs, props, trademarks and teeth – a canny copyrighter at Television Centre must have ensured that the Fourth Doctor’s famously dentine grin was owned by the corporation – this isn’t Doctor Who at all. It’s another example (several examples in one, actually) of Tom Baker earning a crust down under, advertising New Zealand Superannuation Services. Whatever they are.
