Assistant Professor in Secondary Education/ Social Studies and History
The Graduate School of Education and Human Development seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor of Secondary Education/Social Studies and History in the Department of Teacher Preparation and Special Education beginning August 2010. This is a renewable three-year contract, non-tenure accruing, academic year appointment. Responsibilities include teaching and advising master's students, supervising intern teachers, research and scholarly activities, teaching and advising Curriculum & Instruction Doctoral Students and serving on dissertation committees.
Basic Qualifications: An earned doctoral degree in social studies education or a related field, e.g. Curriculum & Instruction, and Teacher Education; ABD candidates will be considered, but must complete all degree requirements by August 1, 2010; Experience working with K-12 students; Experience in teaching at the university level; and, Demonstrated record of or potential for research and scholarly activities.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to teach secondary social studies methods courses at the masters level; Experience advising social studies teacher candidates; A track record of or potential for advising doctoral students and teaching doctoral courses; An active research agenda in social studies education; and Cohort/project/program coordination and management experience.
