Journey, Flower, and Flow bundle inbound
ThatGameCompany confirms disc-based Journey Collector's Edition headed to the PlayStation 3; retailers suggest August launch.
Today may be the first official day of summer, but ThatGameCompany is bundling up. The developer today confirmed a disc-based Journey Collector's Edition for the PlayStation 3. The bundle will include the 2012 record-breaking and critically acclaimed downloadable game Journey, as well as its predecessors, Flower and Flow.
"Yes, the #JourneyPS3Collector's Edition is a thing, and it includes#flOwPS3 and #FlowerPS3, but we can't say anything more," ThatGameCompany wrote on its official Twitter account.
Speculation about the combo pack popped up today, when several retailers, including GameFly and Play-Asia, listed a Journey Collector's Edition for the PS3. No price for the pack was provided by the retailers, but the listings indicate the bundle will arrive sometime in August.
Earlier this month, ThatGameCompany secured $5.5 million in venture capital funding and declared that it would develop and release games for multiple platforms as an independent company. Previously, games from the studio were published only on Sony platforms, and in the case of Flow, also on the PC.

they should have made a more "humble" bundle.
PASS.
PM ME WHEN THEY RELEASE AN ACTUAL GAME.
@Deinbeck Need your definition of an actual game.
Deinbeck
Good thing the rest of the industry doesn't share your narrow minded definition. You probably wouldn't get a pm even if they did an FPS or any other genre lol.
Deinbeck Your perspective of what a game is saddens me, although I guess to each his own. I personally loved Journey, as well as Flower and Flow.
I really wish Journey would come to the PC.
Architeuthis I wish Journey would go to everyone. That Game Company just makes all the good stuff...and helps prove the games as art argument. As much as I don't mind it being exclusive (as I have all the systems), I still think more people should get to enjoy it, let alone give TGC more business to help fund future projects.
Choad-Warrior they have recently gone independent from sony now so there may be hope for the rest of us soon
I really want to play Journey. I'll be picking this disc up.
This is good.I've had these games on my wish list for a while now and now all three games are going to be crammed into one disc...ahhhh can't wait...it's going to be a glorious day...thank u people at THATGAMECOMPANY:):)
So.. collector's edition? Does this mean new content or what?
I reckon that having a disc based version kinda ruins the point of most of these, they're supposed to be great indie games that found success by being released on PSN but now they're being released on disc kinda seems an odd decisions
bgghgubcjhgknjk Um... are you joking? This is a great decision, now people who don't have PSN can buy the games too, and it's financially feasible because it is multiple games on one disc.
VenkmanPHD I'm serious and another point being that journey is the only one I'm interested in and I bet it's gonna cost a ton more then $20 for this pack
bgghgubcjhgknjk There other games may look kinda lame but I'll think you'll find them surprisingly pleasant and the fact that they are releasing there games on a disc doesn't change there reputation of being a great indie developer. How do you think indie games came about before services like PSN, xbox arcade or steam, well guess what, they came out on a disk :P
Not really interested in Flow or Flower, but I will buy as many versions of Journey as become available, especially if there is new content.
I'm glad they can finally make games for multiple platforms. Such games find great success on PC.
I don't know, I've already downloaded Journey, the other ones didn't catch my interest; plus I'm saving to buy RE 6 (game, CD, book etc.), possibly Okami HD. I didn't play Journey that much but it was a breathtaking experience, must play again.
I will buy this but only if it costs the same of less than it would to get the digital versions of these games. I played the demo of Journey yesterday, and while it looks very interesting and innovative (if a little dull), I still don't feel like it's worth £10 taking into account the length of the game. However, if I had a disc that I could sell or trade in when I'm done, that would make it worthwhile.
since i don't own any of those games this may be a good time to get this
Want.
a bit short for the money but a great game anyway. the multiplayer is as innovative as demon/dark souls'
What will be on the instruction manual?
Uh...slow news day? This is old news.
I've been wanting to play Flower, awesome news!
still no PC versions :(
2x4b96123 Aww muffin :(
I don't download games on my PS3 (no credit card). But I've wanted to play these games for some time. So I'm very happy to hear it will be released in disc format.
GATX131Calamity You can use PSN prepaid cards, I'm pretty sure they sell them almost everywhere. You'll end up with a few unspent dollars/cents here and there, but you shouldn't have to unwillingly boycott games you want to play. I think gamestop even sells dlc vouchers for popular psn titles so you don't have to deal with leftover quantities.
kohle36 Thanks for the tip!
have to have it finally releasing a good another good arcade game to disc now i just want bastion and stacking. hopefully both come soon
Wonder if they will just make this bundle pack so it can be released on the 360 later...
I'll be getting this, especially if it's less then $40. I already own flOw though and don't really care for that repetitive game. I'd like to try Flower and Journey though. Glad they will now be making games on all platfoms.
Don't stop, believin' hold on to that feeeeeeeling.
I'd buy this.
Journey and Flower are two of the greatest experiences I've had in my life. Instead of hoping for them to come to PC or 360, which they won't, just get a PS3, it's a fantastic console. I hope the switch to multiconsole doesn't make thatgamecompany's games any less of works of arts. I'd hate to see them make predictable garbage after making the 2 finest works of art in gaming.
Everyone should experience Journey....
I already have one, was planning to buy the other two... great news! I just hope it isn't priced too steeply. Hoping for $20-30. IMO $40 would be too much.
Oh cheers :D
Oh, ohhhhh. I dont know if I should get this, or wait until it comes to 360/PC and pick between them...
Llama345 They won't come to PC/360 since they are published by Sony so you should get this.
Own all three, but I'll get this. I don't mind supporting thatgamecompany.
Go cross-platform on all of these -- this level of gamecraft deserves to be enjoyed by everyone (and would even work on recent iOS & Android platforms), and the developer deserves the cash for it.
Pyrosa The three games are all owned by Sony so they'll remain exclusive to Sony systems. Any future games will be multiplatform though.
I was going to pick up Journey at some point - so I guess I'll wait for this disc version.
i dont use psn so this is welcome news.
i've been waiting for an opportunity to buy these games. seems like the opportunity has arrived :D
yes please...awesome, tangible games are always appreciated.
This is excellent news! I was really intrigued by Journey, especially after all the buzz and word of mouth the game was getting, but I remain steadfast in my unwillingness to set up a PSN account and download games or DLC. (Which is a shame, really, because there are tons of great games I know I'm missing out on.) I really do prefer physical copies. And, thankfully, thatgamecompany seems willing to oblige me and others like me. I'll happily throw my support behind them for it.
You know what, even though I have all 3 games(and just freakin' bought flow), I think I might get this so that I have a physical copy of these games, and to support thatgamecompany. Hopefully there's some other cool stuff like the Dev. Diaries and whatnot.
