Big Society Awards

What is it?

The Big Society Awards were set up by the Prime Minister in November 2010. Twelve winners are decided each quarter and then announced once a week throughout the year.

Winners will receive an invitation to a reception at No.10 Downing Street and get the chance to attend a practical networking and support event earlier in the day.  They also receive a plaque and signed certificate from the Prime Minister.

Details of the winning organisation will appear on the No. 10 website, and a press release will be circulated to the winner’s local and regional press.

How can I get involved?

  • You can nominate yourself or the organisation you run, work for or are involved with (and you will need two independent people to second the nomination).
  • If you are nominating another individual or organisation you must have at least one other independent person that has agreed to second the nomination (two if you are not independent of those you wish to nominate).
  • Nominations come in via the online form on the Big Society Awards page
  • The Awards are an ongoing process – there are four rounds a year. So if you miss one nomination deadline, there will be another a few months later.

Where can I find out more?

A new website has been launched to provide information about the Big Society Awards. Here you can find exciting information about what recent winners of the Awards are doing in their local communities.

Applications will continue to be received via the No 10 website. Please click on the nomination form
