Wii U launching with 23 games
Nintendo confirms full launch lineup for upcoming console; includes Black Ops II, New Super Mario Bros. U, Epic Mickey 2, ZombiU, Assassin's Creed III, and Just Dance 4; 29 more games arriving by March 31.
Nintendo has finally confirmed the Wii U's launch lineup. The Mario maker today announced 23 games that will launch with the console on November 18 in North America, and laid out plans for an additional 29 to arrive during "launch window," which Nintendo holds as by March 31, 2013.
Nintendo reiterated that titles like Nintendoland (bundled with a $350 Deluxe Wii U), New Super Mario Bros. U, and ZombiU will launch November 18, but also noted that Ubisoft's much-hyped Assassin's Creed III and Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be available day-and-date with the console.
The Wii U will arrive in Europe and Australia on November 30, with a Japanese launch slated for Japan on December 8. A Nintendo representative confirmed that the lineup announced today is only for North America.

new game system but no new games, my gosh
emptycow lol you are still here bashing the wiiu damn you need to get a life
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Yzbg08TN-U wake me up when wiiu makes a game like this
emptycow
I'll see your Uncharted and raise you Zelda.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9uYCU8jFiU
Sure it's just a tech demo, but most likely the actual Zelda game will look even better than this.
emptycow Yeah its preetty. But dont compare launch games to games more than 5 years into the consoles life. They had more than enough time to learn how to juice every last drop of power from the hardware. Lets get back to this in a year or two.
Sleepyhun1 Don't even waste you're time arguing. The same people who say the WII U's graphics suck compared to Xbox360/PS3 will turn around to a pc gamer and say "graphic's aren't everything" when they say pc is superior. They just have to spew garbage even if it's not the truth.
What is that Transformers Prime game what is that based on.
@kennythomas26 It's based on the current Transformers tv series of the same name.
JonythanD kennythomas26 alright thank you, I guess I won't be interested in that game then.
This implied apology for previous pathetic launches isn't very gratifying and hardly acceptable.
tgwolf yeah because they did not follow sony and actually made some money of the last piece of hardware.
Elaisse tgwolf but they lost all the 3rd party devs if you dont support 3rd party then your dead in the water ask the dreamcast nintendo better hope that control gimmick sells systems
emptycow Elaisse
The Dreamcast had good 3rd party support, you don't even know why it was pulled from the market.
Even before the Wii U, Nintendo still has had support from several 3rd parties so I don't know where you get this claim that "they lost all the 3rd party devs".
emptycow Elaisse tgwolf Again, another foolish comment.
You probably weren't alive during the Dreamcast Era to say that crap. Dreamcast had a berserk amount of Third Party Support and a vast amount of library titles, better than N64/PS1 and just as good as PS2. They declared bankruptcy after sour investment deals.
Was that your pathetic attempt to compare Wii to the Dreamcast? Poor job if so.
In fact, you are abysmal.
If you really think about it, how old will the wiiU be before developers are able to produce graphics better then the wiiu.. I think Nintendo's strategy is pretty good so far
making tons of money and enraging fanboys.
Elaisse Games already have better graphics than the Wii U on PC, Sony or Microsoft just need to make a console powerful enough to run them.
I 've heard that Bethesda will not make games for Wii U like Elder Scrolls, but Zelda will fill that hole.
ZiRa-Bosnia is elder scroll anygood.
i remember when i bought my ati video card they gave elder scroll 3 as bundle. never really played. anyway are the new elders better ?
wclef ZiRa-Bosnia I don't have Skyrim yet, but Oblivion is MUCH better than Morrowind in my opinion.
It's a fairly big launch line up, but half of it is ports. So as a 360 owner I'm looking for a reason to buy a WiiU and I don't see one.
AyatollaofRnR
If every launch title was brand new, people may be skeptical about buying games of which they have never heard. From a consumer stand point, having these ports released will make gamers more comfortable in investing in games they recognize.
CivilizedPsycho AyatollaofRnR
Plus since 3rd party support has been an issue with Nintendo, I feel like these 3rd parties are using these titles to see if the Wii U will have a large enough hardcore audience that's willing to buy their games, and Nintendo is wise to give them the spotlight for now to build that support on both the consumer's side and the developer's by not overshadowing it with their 1st party titles.
abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho AyatollaofRnR Hopefully that is the case.I feel like the WiiU has a limited window to establish itself or the arrival of the next Sony and MS consoles make it irrelevant.
AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho If those big shots at Sony and Microsoft don't out systems with high price tags and force an increase in game prices to offset developer investment, I'll cast my lot in with the system that won't break my bank. I'm still not convinced by the more power garbage these people on inhaling. As a game consumer, I would prefer if these guys spent more time honing their craft on a system to squeeze every last drop out of it. Way I see it happening is, next systems will probably reach 1080p @ 60fps, but watch how many games will be struggling to hit that mark and the scores that will attempt to do things that are meaningless but consume lots of clock cycles and wasting power and not really looking all that much better or performing worse. Seriously it happened this generation, you can count on two hands all the 1080p @ 60fps games on both consoles, but these are so called HD systems(upscale city) Wii U will most likely be a True HD system, lol. That's so funny to even say. I want some Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Wave Race, Smash Bros. and more and all without letterboxes and stupid black bars on the sides. Hooray!
SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho all xbox 360 games were 16;9 they are only letter box on 4;3 tv sets reason for that is if u try to fit a 16;9 image on a 4;3 tv you lose the left and right sides of the image in other words go buy a real hd tv dude... and you do know xbox 360 could make all its games both 1080p and 60fps but its a trade off to get to that level you have to lower the graphics bar it will be the same thing on the wiiu
AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho Its gota pretty decent window. The new xbox and ps will take time for the developers to be putting out graphics above the current stuff.
emptycow SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho the GPU in the 360 OR PS3 can't output 1080p man, wtf are you talking about? The maximum output is 1080i for both Graphics units. 60fps is possible with games like Call of Duty and God of War 3, but they're running under 720p. You made a point and one point only.
The consoles can only run in 1080i and 60fps combined if it were a small 2d title, not taking advantage of the chipset in either console.
Those consoles can't output in 1080p, and it isn't the same as 1080i, regardless of how you feel about it.
emptycow SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho Did you just claim PS3 was able to output a true 1080p "IMAGE", that WiiU's games are all 720p, then shared a video about Wii U that has NOTHING to do with any of those claims LMAO. This video has NOTHING to do with anything you've said.
EDIT: You just erased that post ROFL...that cracked me up.
You said: "WiiU's games are all gonna be 720p anyway, and PS3 was able to output a 1080p image! See, here's proof!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FM8qfSlNkg
OMG
alrepairs SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho dude the ps3 can put out a true 1080p image end of story the xbox 1 could put out a 1080i image i think the ps3 is a little more powerful then a xbox 1 test have been done on the ps3 years back it can do a true 1080p image and has done it many many times mgs4. uncharted etc end of story wiiu dont impress me at all 98% launch games dont run in true 1080p they are being upscand and even if they were true hd who cares im waiting for the real next gen not this crap
alrepairs SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhP6gG2XpUY looks better then anything on wiiu
emptycowSavageEvilAyatollaofRnRabHS4L88CivilizedPsycho
I have no idea what an upscand is. PS3 is far more powerful than Xbox 1.
I take it you don't even have an HD PVR 2. Because if you did like me, you'd know in this video the game isn't being PLAYED in 1080p native. Rather, It's being captured and CONVERTED into VIDEO format in true 1080p. Nice find, but FAIL.
How many times will you lose :(.
alrepairs SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je7rSPw-M2o cool story bro but ps3 can do true 1080p not for all games but it did for this one
alrepairs SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho
i have not saw one game that can top that part in mgs 4 it looks like pure cgi
emptycow SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho Are you a crack baby or something?
Stop saying "Cool Story Bro" and know what the HD PVR is..are you insane?
http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr2-gaming.html
It lets you record crappy resolutions and convert them to true 1080p video to upload on youtube. Those aren't IN-GAME 1080p graphics fool.
alrepairs SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho
i have the game and it looked the same when i played it on my tv so whatever
emptycow SavageEvil AyatollaofRnR abHS4L88 CivilizedPsycho No it didn't.
Anyway, HD PVR2 is a cool device if you want to see True HD video playback. Buy it.
AyatollaofRnR I hear y'all I did pre-order the system, but I have been second guessing it ever since.
kennythomas26 AyatollaofRnR
Just know that this is just the launch window and the rest of the great games are sure to come. Nintendo's giving this launch to the 3rd parties to build support so that they'll be encouraged to create more exclusives or at least include the Wii U in their upcoming multiplatform games.
I'm not impressed. Now if NSMB Wii U and a new DK adventure type game dropped on launch day then I'd be impressed.
Paper_Mario_4 nsmb will drop on launch date so be impressed
This is probably one of the biggest collection of launch titles ever! People complain that they are underwhelmed by the selection, but compared to previous console launch titles, this is quite impressive.
CivilizedPsycho And it is actually backwards compatible.
compared to other launches, its the best ever i would say. Nintendo is bringing the wiiu within the lifeline of 2 nearly the same consoles and will take as much top mulitplatform titles as possible. The wiiu should get a lot more multiplatform games within the next year, and i wouldn't say that these ported games may are simply the same, i would expect better loading times and hopefully good controls for motion and tablet controllers, 1080p would be great too.
Looking forward to the wiius future i would expect a great lifeline with tons of great games and nintendo exklusives.
I guess the Wii was something a lot of people thought its going to be freakin awesome, new and will redefine videogaming at all, but it never had enough support for that and the exklusives where sometimes a bit to experimental or completly bad (like metroid other m)
i hope a better combination of 3rd party games and exklusives and somehow 2 new controllers to the hardcore market (maybe sony copied the motion controller, bad its so bad thats not compareable at all and the few games ported to wii were always the version someone with a pc or a ps3 or xbox wouldn't play at all)
I hope Rockstar is interested in bringing GTA 5 to Wii U.
