Going the wrong way guys....In fact daily Start / Select was too much. there was far too much filler and not enough news. (see the number of inane Seb inserts in most shows) Most people have jobs / hobbies / lives that do not involve checking the gamespot web site every 2 hours.Twitter proves that "immediate" information is of little use, 99.9% of all Twitter posts are missed.

You'd be far better looking at a weekly round up, with less effort put into graphics and filler, more actual useful content.LOVE the podcast and a "fatter" Start Select would rock...

I agree with Scooby, at least a weekly start select roundup would be good!

For what its worth, not sure what is going on behind the scenes but it seems a great shame! I have used gamespot as my number 1 choice for games reviews/videos for years now. Start select filled a great gap for gaming video shows since gamesmaster LOL and ive enjoyed the quality / humour. It was devastating when Jane left, and now this... I cannot handle the ign videos for longer than a minute, too annoying so will have to look elsewhere..? I will keep my gamespot uk bookmark but feel disappointed about this- please reconsider, You are the best!

I think they have dropped a clanger here. I'm in my [ :( ] late twenties and I don't have time and to be honest, the inclination to check the GS website regularly. Through s/s and the podcast and their iTunes feeds, GameSpot was pretty much guaranteed to get themselves (and more importantly, adverts) in my ears and eye balls on a weekly or daily basis when I watched/listened to their output on my commute. Now I don't have those options (looks like the podcast has also died without warning) I'm frankly a lost demographic to the site.

I'll miss start/select and the daily digest of news it brought which helped me feel like I could keep up to date with games despite the fact I hardly get time to play them.

RIP.

First NSync, now Start/Select. Can it get any better?

How about adding a Windows 8 GUI to the front page? Then we have all the news right at our fingertips. ;)

Well that's funny, I skip about 99% of all GS news clips. I like to read my news, but I like to have it presented and discussed further in often funny video segments, as a companion to the news, not the news itself. Feedbackula is not enough for me. I need my daily fix of humour and video games. It wouldn't be so bad if you had a few new features on than feebackula... maybe something 3 days a week? look, now I am bargaining, I must be going through the 5 stages of grieft (just not in the right order). BTW, where is Feedbackula this week? It is 1:21GST, so 6:21 in whatever you call your time zone... kinda late in the day not to have it up and running, no?

unfortunately i havent really bothered with gamespot since start/select ended, having news scattered all over the place makes some of it easy to miss. bring back s/s its what the people want and i dont wanna see this site go under :(

I eat a strange smelling banana whilst watching this last episode..

From this day forward strange smelling bananas will always remind me of Start/Select.  Sad times indeed :'(

Start Select had entertainment value, GS news does not. So please stop the GS, or not, and bring back our favourite show.

Start Select had it all; the humour, the news, and it was daily. Now we have GS news which seems to be whenever and has no humour. But has the exact article read out to us.

waykanbake 7 pts

Personally I don't need to hear, seconds after an announcement, that something is going to happen in a few years.  For a while now I have enjoyed digesting my news nugget when I get home from work - cup of tea and a bit of a chuckle with Start/Select, a great start to the evening!

sirkibble2 218 pts

We want Start/Select. That is all.

thribs 144 pts

No one watches it for the news. You've seem to have forgotten that.

Signor-Sausage 12 pts

thribs Exactly what I thought when I watched this.  It seems as though they have misunderstood the appeal of the show. The news was interesting but it was definitely second to the entertainment factor.

Plus there was the added excitement of the feedback section in Super Start/Select where, if your spelling was bad enough, and your opinion idiotic enough you might, just might have your comment read out for all the world to see. I suppose Feedbackula does have that covered.

Either way Gamespot, if the new ideas don't work out, don't be too proud to bring back S/S. It happened for Futurama and Family Guy, right? There's even a new Red Dwarf coming up soon. For future reference I see Johnny as Arnold Rimmer.

Are you kidding?!

Replacing Start/Select for GS News and Feedbackula?!

So instead of looking forward to a (almost) daily funny episode of Start/Select to keep me updated, I can now look forward to intermittend updates via GS News, so I have to basically check every other hour and watch a read-off-a-piece-of-paper newsflash?

The "news" maybe "old" by when you submit a new Start/Select episode, but only for the people who haben't spent all day looking for any news!

I want to look for news ONCE a day, not every other hour! And don't look forward to watching 10 "newsflashes" everyday, where is the entertainment value in there?!

PS: the "almost" was only concering the "daily", not the "funny" :)

I have an idea for a show, back in the 90's there was this video game show named "Video Power" which was full of everything bad during the 90's but at it's core it was a awesome video game show, why not make a similar show? Incidentally. the show's host was "Johnny" Arcade and he also had a very Seb like partner

The problem with GS News is that it's boring. If I want bland just-breaking news on anything, I'll read an article about it, not watch a video. Start-Select combined a number of useful things (news, humour, pretty faces [sometimes], community feedback, personality) into a very fun and entertaining show. If your goal is to deliver "more video content" to us, then you can break up Start-Select's constituent parts all you like, but I doubt you'll ever find the magic that Start-Select had without just remaking Start-Select under a different name.  This is a case of quantity vs. quality, and I would love to see the GS UK opt for producing quality content rather than just a bunch of useless 'busy work' videos.  In many ways, Start-Select was greater than the sum of its parts, and I'm sorry to see that you guys haven't realized that.

ghandi16 18 pts

I'd never heard of GS news until watching this video, and after 5 minutes of looking I finally found it. The sad thing is I really love using this site, but it was start select that brought me back every day and now I'm finding myself popping in only once every few days. GS news just doesn't cut it for me, the presenters look like their being coerced into doing the segments and I guess I just miss listening to a nice british accent!

- Make GS news more visible

- Make GS news more entertaining

badstyle 30 pts

You should compile this stuffage into a weekly roundup - I'm too busy to keep on top of my gaming news in the day I work hard so I can buy me some gamz0rz....

The problem with GS news is that it's horrible. WAIT JOHNNY! DON'T HIT ME WITH YOUR FEEDBACKULA CANE... Ahem. No, I'm serious though. Reeeeally don't want to be senselessly beaten. But GSNews often have presenters who... can't speak. They are likely really good writers, and very nice people but... let's just be nice and say some people should not be put infront of a camera. Public speaking is a skill and a talent and if you're going to put people infront of a camera make sure they have speech training. Seriously, for our sakes. You need to make sure more than one of the staff in San Fransisco can talk without being monotone or akward. Secondly, you are loosing things from start/select. The community of having it all in the same place and the entertainment value, which is what made Start/Select itself. The news in the GSNews format isn't entertaining, so why would I prize it over just... reading the article? In my view that StartSelect was fun to watch is what we all kept coming back for, and the news kept giving us things to discuss, allowing us to interact with each other and with the staff in a (sometimes) civilised manner, and the feedback made us feel like we were part of the "family". You weren't talking at us, you were talking TO us. This is what feedbackula doesn't accomplish, nor any disagregated model. It doesn't create a space for fans, and distances us from the medium. Feedbackula, as much as I love Johnny, isn't about us. It's about everyone else, some of which are only tangentally related to the Gamespot and Start/Select families. It's too broad of a focus. A restarted Start/Selct should, if not on the daily news, focus on value added contribution to the news, such as analysis and interviews, while keeping the the presentation entertaining and, this is really important, keeping user participation. This is not television, this is an interactive medium. Use the interactivity. We will love you for it. This has been me, it's been great. I've really enjoyed the year I spent with Start/Select (Shit, that'd be a great movie!)

Change is scary, and I don't like it :(

Oh well, at least we still have Danny putting some effort in with EfMS.

Caravellie 44 pts

I have an idea, why don't you do both GS News AND a new form of Start Select? You could have a new video series of daily news but also voice your opinions and reactions to the news. GS news can be the formal news and the video series would be fun and informal.

I think it'd be informative hearing different opinions and takes on stories and it'd be nice having a opinion/personality based video segments.

Caravellie 44 pts

The problem with GS News is that you have to take your time to read through stuff and decide what's important. Start Select delivered all the relevant news in a comprehensible, short, and fun package. I don't understand why anyone would stop Start Select, since the series really got better and received more attention from the community over time but I sincerely hope that another "news show" will come back in some form or another. Long Live Start Select! Love live the SS!

coliraby 41 pts

I have stumbled across the Gamespot news videos once or twice as I was jonesing for new in the absence of start/select... the problem with gamespot news is that I have no idea when or where to find it. I perfer my news in once easy to access start/select flavored package.

neillees_uk 6 pts

Can't you just still do Start/Select without the feedback section or the news section? My favourite bits are when you just slap each other, make sarcastic comments, draw on each others chins and talk about burning orphans.

Gelugon_baat 2238 pts

 neillees_uk That is a cringe-worthy prospect.  :(

greyhulk2 5 pts

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I love start/select. :(((((Farewell you funny guys...

LordRork 55 pts

Feedbackula I though was poor since the name is...poor...and the bite-sized amount of user comments and high-jinks was just enough each day/week while an entire show just gets tired fast.

Am I really bothered by a show that parcels up the day's news in such a way that it's "old"? Not really. Sure, you guys have got to get people to come to you first and not the competition (probably better served by the shorter turnaround of a text article), but equally, an irreverent daily digest is pretty good for an industry in which "breaking news" is mostly just a trailer for something that comes out in 3 months time.

You boys still turn out top class content such as EfMS, which I'll continue to watch, but I think I'll pass on itty bits of gaming news in video form.

HardbodyDraper 34 pts

I don't care what you do, my only requirements are Johnny, Danny, Mark, Seb and Guy

Unreal-Aeon 8 pts

Absolutely heartbroken, loved start/select and always looked forward to watching it. A small part of me died today...

SteelPenguin90 10 pts

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! S/S was a quick and easy way to know what's going on without traipsing through loads of links and pages. This is wrong. Messing with my daily routine maaaan!!

Ergolite 12 pts

They probs want more traffic into the site with people checking the latest breaking news every few hours etc, rather than people having daily visits for all the days news. More traffic=more moneyz!

SoraPR 23 pts

mmmmm how can I say this in a good way mmmmmmmmm.......... FUCK you guys I love S/S!!!!!! :-(

awwwwwww! but yeah Jane was the only reason I watched SS anyway
