CARDS: YU-GI-OH! Call to Arms!

Duelists! O Duelists!

Come, pointy-haired Duelists! Get your Spell Cards ready! Have you your Monsters? Have you your sharp-edged Traps? Because this month, Shonen Jump Alpha wants YOUR original strategies!

Pushing the Limits
The Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game is about three things: Friendship. Adaptability. Strategy. Gruesome monsters fighting to the death. (Okay, that’s four.) All of these depend on Duelists swapping ideas, on the battlefield or off, so this month, it’s your turn to go global. Pioneer the way and send us your favorite strategy or card combo. Think you can knock our socks off with your ingenious strategy? Then our socks stand at the ready!

Guidelines
Tell us about your favorite card-combo in the comments section below, and we’ll feature the top five next month! When selecting strategies, we'll keep the following in mind:
Originality
: Can you think of a way to use a card that always seemed pointless? Maybe you can find a shortcut that makes your strongest monster super-easy?
Playability: Yu-Gi-Oh! heroes always draw the cards they need when they need them.  Too bad that you need luck and Deck building skills in real life. Make sure someone could realistically play a combo, then double-check it on the Forbidden and Limited lists.
Effectiveness: What does your combo do? Is it worth the time, skill and luck you’ll need to set it up? Are there any other cards that can do the same thing more easily? Think about all these things before submitting. You may find a way to make your strategy even better than it is already!

To Pay or Not To Pay
Not all costs are bad. When you look at a card with a high cost, try to think of a way this could help you. Could having lower life points be a good thing? Would lowering or raising a monster’s Level help with more than just summoning Synchros or Xyz monsters? The answer may surprise you!

Mix and Match
Card archetypes support themselves, it’s true. But can you find a way to make two archetypes support each other? Would adding a Lightsworn improve your Amazoness deck? Could a Naturia help your Warriors? Go on, get crazy. You might strike strategy gold!

Do you mind if we include OCG cards in the combos you're asking for? I've got quite the surprise if so.

Submitted by JonathanD on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 14:01

This is my Super combo!
1. play foolish burial X2
2. discard darklord superbia and darklord edeh arae
3.play monster reborn to get superbia and use effect to get edeh arae

Submitted by TechGenusMaster on Sun, 06/24/2012 - 10:34

cant play two.

Submitted by Chireru on Mon, 07/09/2012 - 09:58

foolish burial works well with manticore of darkness, allowing you to summon him first turn, provided you have a beast, beast-warrior or winged beast up you sleeve to offer up.

Hand: 2 Blue-Eyes White Dragons (or any other level 8 dragon-type monsters), Flute of Summoning Dragon, Lord of D., Photon Sanctuary, and Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon.

Steps:
1. Summon Lord of D.
2. Activate Photon Sanctuary
3. Special Summon Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon by tributing the Photon tokens
4. Activate Flute of Summoning Dragon to special summon your Blue-Eyes White Dragons
5. Xyz Summon Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon with your Blue-Eyes and your Galaxy-Eyes

Note: If you have a Blue-Eyes White Dragon in your graveyard, after you remove the to Blue-Eyes from your Neo Galaxy-Eyes, then you can try to get Dragon's Mirror to fusion summon Blue-eyes Ultimate Dragon.

Submitted by shresthajason on Thu, 07/12/2012 - 07:08

"Photon Sanctuary" won't let you Summon any monsters on that turn except for LIGHT monsters, therefore the Dragon-Type monsters must be LIGHT but it doesn't matter because "Lord of D." is a DARK monster, not a LIGHT. So your combo won't work until the next turn.

Submitted by RohanSpartan on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 16:17

1. Set a Marshmallon
2. Set 2 Scrap-Iron Scarecrows and a Solemn Judgment.
3. End your turn and let the laughter ensue.

it only takes 3 cards. 2 in ur hand 1 in the grave.
lets say, you're facing down a strong or any monster and you have no cards on the field.
okay have either hushed psychic cleric or silent psychic wizard and mini-guts in your hand.
summon one of the monster and use their effects to banish a psychic monster from your grave (preferably a strong one, but it doesn't need to be.)
use mini-guts to send em' to the grave and make the strongest monster in the opponents field 0, and summon the monster u banished with clerics or wizard's eff. attack with the summoned monster and turn the game around with mini-guts' effect.

i run psychics and when i use them i usually draw the card i need when i need it.

HEy how about this youjr hand is x1 Teleport x1Vengeful Servant x1 Battle Teleportation x1 Space-Time Police x1Mental Seeker x1Psychic Sword so your oppent makes the first move then when its your turn use teleport to special summon Space-Time Police which banishs your oppents monster then summon mental seeker and equip him with psychic sword then have mental seeker attack first because he will have 1600 points thanks to pyschic sword then attack with space-time police so then your oppent will have 5100 points of dammage then equip space time police with vengvul servant and set battle teleportation then if space time police is still there play future glow then activate battle teleportation and if you draw future glow or anoter card that lets you increase his power play it let space-timepolice attack direcly thus leaving him withof a minimum of 2800 points then end your turn and space-time police will go to your oppents field but with vengful servant your oppent will get slamed with 2300 points of damage thus leaving him with at least 300 points left so try that

(Combo is currently OCG only, until we FINALLY get Hidden Arsenal 7)
1. Get Infernity Avenger, Necromancer, and Archfiend in grave with one of the 30 ways that the deck can do that.
2. Have Infernity Mirage in hand.
3. Normal Mirage, effect for Archfiend and Necromancer
4. Archfiend, search 2nd Mirage
5. Necromancer, special Avenger
6. Synch Necro+Avenger for Armory Arm
7. Overlay Arm+Arch into Lavalval Chain
8. Drop the Arch material to send Stygian Street Patrol to grave, banish it to special the Mirage in your hand.
9. Mirage effect, repeat Arch and Necro, this time search Infernity Launcher.
10. Necro specials Avenger, synch them all into Hundred-Eyes Dragon.
11. Hundred effect as Mirage, special Arch and Necro, Arch searches a 2nd Necro.
12. Launcher's primary effect to drop Necro.
13. Necro effect to special Avenger, synch into Hundred eyes, effect as Mirage, special two Necromancers.
14. Special Avenger and Arch with them, search a Barrier, synch those two into a Catastor/Stygian Street Patrol.
15. Overlay your Necromancers into Leviair, the Sea Dragon, special a Mirage with it.
16. Use that Mirage for Necro and Avenger. Synch Avenger and your Level 5 for a Brionac.
17. Necro effect on Archfiend, search any Infernity Monster, drop it with Brionac to bounch Lavalval chain to the extra deck, sending Stygian Street Patrol to the grave.
18. Use Launcher, bring back Avenger and the second Necromancer.
19. Go into Hundred-eyes, use Mirage, bring back the Necro and Archfiend, search an Infernity, drop it to bounce back Leviair.
20. Use the Necromancers if you wish, overlay into Leviair the Sea Dragon.

This is the point where you decide what you want to do with the duel, you have Brionac, Leviair, an Archfiend, and Mirage targets in your banished pile, and you have at least one Barrier at this point. I've played Infernities since they came out, and they just get more and more fun to play. I decided to leave this combo a bit open ended, but when they come out, consider using Lavalval Chain, Daigusto Emeral, Evilswarm Ouroboros, and maybe even Infernity General. I hope this wasn't to long, haha.

First, have "Solemn Judgement" set. (this is the most effective choice but can be replaced by any countering trap card)

Second, summon "Neospacian Air Hummingbird"(activating his effect is optional but not recomended)

Third, play "A Hero Lives" summoning "Elemental Hero Neos"

Fourth, contact fuse for "Elemental Hero Air Neos"

As a fifth step I would recomend "H - Heated Heart" (a card that I feel is under estemated by a lot of duelists)This card will give you the pirceing power need to get through any pesky defense position monsters plus a 500ATK boost.

Finally, Attack. At a maximum your opponent is staring down a 7000ATK point world of hurt, and if your opponent tries to counter, "Solemn Judgement" takes care of that and gives your Air Neos a boost in the proccess.

This play works because it is simple and powerful. This is a potential 2nd turn win and is very practical and playable since all but Solemn can contain up to three copies. As I already stated you can sub solemn for any other trap counter that can ruin your play.

Submitted by TechGenusMaster on Sun, 06/24/2012 - 10:36

it says level4 or lower neos is a 7

My hero combo was a barrowed one from my spellcaster deck that I thought would translate over well. Unfortunatly I forgot about the level 4 restriction to "A Hero Live" and in retrospect, it was a pretty dumb thing to do lol. Here is my origional spellcaster combo:

1st - Have "Solem Judgement" set
2nd - Use "Dark Magic Curtain" to speacial summon "Dark Magician"
3rd - Activate a combonation of "Megamorph" and "Big Bang Shot"
4th - Attack and rain down the hurt.

Submitted by Jcblee on Thu, 06/28/2012 - 07:25

theres always prisma or neos alius :P

Submitted by Devon3 on Mon, 07/02/2012 - 21:00

I totally blanked on them... lol to be honest, I've spent so much time useing crystal beasts, spellcasters, and blue eyes themes that I'm just now getting around to really trying hero cards and six samurai's :-/

Submitted by Stardust19i on Sun, 07/08/2012 - 15:14

neos alius won't work because you need to summon him while he's on the field for him to be treated as Elemental Hero Neos. That it, unless you use double summon. But that is just another card you need, and more hassle.

Submitted by Devon3 on Wed, 07/11/2012 - 18:32

Neos Alius would work because its a speacial summoned when summoned with a hero lives. I just need Air Hummingbird already on the feild.

I used to play this combo all the time, except when one of the two cards for the combo was bsanned. First I would get out a high attack powered non the field, such as Blues Eyes White Dragon and the I would spring my trap. First bI used Rof Destruction to destroy Blue Eyes then activate Barrell Behind the Door to send my 3,000 damage right back at my aponent dishin out a total of 6,000 damage. This was one of my favorite combos, but I no longer can use it since Rinng is banned, but don't let that stop you from trying it out for yourselvese!!

1. Try making a light and dark dragon deck (Dragon Collides Deck is Highly Recommended)
2. Lay down Chaos Zone Field Spell Card (This helps add Chaos counters when you banish monsters)
3. Get some dark and light monsters in your graveyard.
4. Summon Eclipse Wyvern, let your opponent destroy eat. (When Wyvern is destroyed it can banish a monster of level 7 and higher to your graveyard, when Wyvern is banished from your graveyard you can add the banished monster can be added to your hand, banish a Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon).
5. Now special summon Lightpulsar or Darkflare dragon through it's effect (Banish a light and dark monster from your graveyard to special summon) Your going to want to banish Eclipse Wyvern as one of your tributes.
6. Now that he's banished you can add the Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon to your hand. Then all you have to banish any monster on the field. Summon it then you can special summon any level dragon monster. And hopefully even summon Chaos Sorcerer or a Dark Armed Dragon with all of those monsters in your graveyard.
7. Plus with Chaos Zone for every banished monster in both players zones. You can special summon a monster equal to how many Chaos Counters you have.

I have a deck that in a couple of months will be the fastest deck that YU-GI-OH TCG has ever seen. It's called my Egyptian God Deck and it uses all 3 Egyptian god cards. And while i have spent the last 3 years building this deck, I have also found some useful tips that i'll share with you. there's 2 total. Now since Raigeki was banned from tournament play, duelists have been looking for a way to eliminate thier oppents monsters in one swift swoop. that was impossible until now. This is tip # 1 and i call it Slifer's Sword. When Slifer the Sky Dragon comes out in a few months this might be the most used combo in this game's history. it requires the Egyptian god card Slifer and the Sword of Revealing Light. when these two are used with using Slifer first, this might be the most devestaing combo there is. because of slifer's ability of reducing the attack of your opponents monsters by 2000 pts it will be able to almost clear your oppents side of the field of monster's leaving them open for a direct attack and practically giving you a winning advantage. Tip # 2 is called Egypt's Minon. Now because The Winged Dragon of Ra and slifer both have zero attack pts, in order to bring these god cards to your hand faster thier is thier minion: Sangan. By using Sangan's ability in the graveyard, you can get either Slifer or Ra into your hand rather than waiting to draw them from your deck the old fashioned way. These are just a few tricks my new deck uses and I hope mto get to next year's world championships with this deck. but we will see thanks Happy Dueling everyone.

Submitted by yodaflyz on Wed, 07/04/2012 - 21:17

#1Slifer sword. Slifer from what I understand will only apply its effect on a "normal summon" if it works the way it did in nigtmear Trubidor or close to. I could be wrong as the official card is not out yet but When swords of revealing light is activated the cards will be considered "flipped summoned". So I don't think slifer sword will work as you described. However, I do believe there is a trap card out there that will force your opponent to normal summon set cards face up. As the card is considered "normal summon" I think then slifer would able to aplly it's effect. Leaving your opponent open for high damage from your slifer. Now if I could only remember the name of that trap card so I could suggest it to you. I think you could still make slifer sword work if you had that card.

#2 Egyption minion wont work as described either.. I admit Sangan is a great card. You can search up Marshmallon and Spirit reaper with these cards. These cards are hard to destroy and are good for building up sacrifices for your god cards as all of them require a high value of 3 tributes. However as far as searching for your god cards, you need look at your legal print copy of Ra again. It's attack and defense are listed as "?" not "0" and I believe this will also be true with slifer. This is highly important because. a value of ? is not considered an attack value of 0 in your deck and thus is not considered a value under 1500 ATK. This was actually done by Konami on purpose just to prevent us from searching for these cards with cards like 'sangan. Still, sangan is a great card and you really should use it in your deck to help you search up sacrifices. You just can't get a god card with it. Sorry to burst your bubble on this.

Still, you got some good ideas here and I hope you can make it work out. Good luck building your god card deck.

Submitted by yodaflyz on Fri, 07/06/2012 - 18:12

Just as the Subject says I found the card I was thinking of as I was going threw my collection to make your slifer sword trick work.

"Light of Intervention" is a continuous trap card.

This is its effect

"Monster Cards cannot be placed face-down. Monsters Set in Defense Position are played face-up and are considered summoned"

If Slifer is on the filed with this card your opponent will be nearly defenseless as every card they attempt to set will have to eat slifers ATK reducing effect because they will be considered normal summed. As most 4 star or lower monsters tend to heave less then 2000 ATK then your opponents monsters will most likely will be destroyed by Slifers effect every time they attempt to set a card.

I hope this helps you build your deck. Good luck and keep dueling.

Here's how you can get Raveil lord of phantoms FIrst have thesse cards in your hand

1x soul exchange
1x grinder golem
1x Raviel LOrd of phantoms
First special summon Grinder golem to your opeents field that gives you two grinder tokens (fiend type). Next play soul exchange to use grinder golem as tribute . Then you tribe all three to summon raviel lord of phantoms . This combo is tricky to use because if you special summon grinder golem you cant normal summon a monster but raviel can only be specail summonedf by releasing three fiend monsters sothat how you get a monster with 4000 atk points on your first turn

Submitted by TheGreatShogun on Wed, 07/11/2012 - 07:36

Tokens aren't monsters so your combo wont work. Sorry

Submitted by kamkill on Thu, 07/12/2012 - 02:20

Raviel needs 3 fiends to summon, so fiend tokens count, just like phantasmal martyrs.

All you need is:
x1 Mausoleum of the emperor
x1 Prime material dragon
useful but not neccessery: Ultimate offering

First you have to summon prime material dragon with mausoleum of the emperor and to put face down Ultimate offering and if you can, cards to protect the dragon.after you use ultimate offering to normal summon more monsters and use prime material dragon to gain lifepoints use mausoleum of the emperor to take out your high level monsters and get thousand more lifepoints! But prepare because your opponent too can summon his/her high level monsters! When you have your best monsters, attack your opponent and take his/her lifepoints!

Submitted by philam64 on Mon, 06/25/2012 - 14:11

Prime material only works when an effect inflicts damage, not when you pay.

Submitted by Number80 on Sun, 06/24/2012 - 21:43

Summoning tour guide, bringing sangan through it's effect, then special summoning tg werewolf from hand easily summons No. 34 terabyte. Using Revival Gift to summon the two tokens in defense mode on my opponent's field, and then using the tuner to synchro summon with another for Red dragon archfiend, which will destroy all their monsters in defense mode after battle, including the tokens, makes it like a free tuner.
In my rock deck, I use a mixture of Macro Cosmos and Chaos Zone. So even if Primodial Sun is destroyed, I gain a chaos counter. If there are monster's already in my graveyard, then I use Skull Lair to remove them from play, and still destroy an opponent's monster, which is removed from play due to macro cosmos for more counters. Also using D.D. Guide on my opponent's field for even more removed cards at each end phase. Another is Gonogo and Ballista of Rampart Smashing. Or D.D. Gate, which will remove a cyber ouroboros and an opponent's monster, then use cyber's effect to draw a card.
One for the six samurai decks is when gateway of the six is on the field, summoning Shi En (no explanation needed), then release 4 counters to add grandmaster, which is special summoned cause you have Shi En, and then overlaying any rank 5 Exceed.

Submitted by TheGreatShogun on Wed, 07/11/2012 - 07:39

Why would you ever want to overlay shi- en. He is the best card six sams have period.

2. any level 1 monster on the field.

if u have a neo spacian air humming bird and glow moss. u can use the m to easily summon xyzs but if u those 2 on the field and a synchro (preferablly 1 of the five dragons.) u can block most attacks.
(black-winged dragon) if you have acid golem u negate the effect of 2000 and add black feather counters. release the counters on a monster too strong for u. but if they try to leap around battleing (chaos emporor dragon, cannon soldier, hamon.) block it and equip mist body or use spirit barrier.
(Black rose dragon) for all of these manipulate your opponent to draw to gain life points( air humming bird) with glow moss on the field, a great effect but if destroyed no biggie, remove it from play to reduce an opponents monster atk/def to 0, then, attack.
(Ancient fairy dragon) sychro summon this monster in defense then use a field spell like futre visions or ancient forest to prevent them from attacking for a little. if future visions then have their ace card removed from play for the turn, use ancient fairy's effect destroy it gain 1000 and his monster is gone for good. then to prevent any negative effects happening to u build a wall by special summoning with ancient fairy.
(Stardust dragon) once summond attacking wont be a problem. any trap used to negate an attack, Stardust. any effect that flips the duel around, stardust. any spell the does a harsh beating to your monsters, stardust. you will be free to attack using stardust.
(Red dragon Archfiend) wipe out flip effects like u just dont care with this guy and massive attack will get u to the top but not attacking is bad so if your in a tight spot try to block it if possible but when your opponent is open strike him down with this overpowered, easy to summon monster

Submitted by samuraiotaku on Mon, 06/25/2012 - 07:39

Have one set monster and Magical Hats and ultimate offering set.
During your Opponents Battle Phase Activate Ultimate Offering and Magical Hats.
This brings two cards onto the field that are treated a monsters but are not actually summoned so they cant be Solemned or Bottomlessed or Torrential Tributed.
Next Activate Ultimate Offering to tribute your set monster and two hats to summon any Egyptian God. ( I prefer Obelisk. Until Slifer Anyways lol.) Since Egyptian God's summon can't be chained to and can't be negated, it is safe from Solemn, Bottomless, and Torrential again meaning it will hit the field no matter what.
Another tip for this would be to use Magic Formula or Dark Coffin as the two hats to gain 2000 lp or force your opponent to discard 2 or destroy 2 of his or her field or a combination of the two.
This is a combo I pulled off on Marik in the game Nightmare Troubadour and beat the game and is a combo I invented myself (^^)

Submitted by samuraiotaku on Mon, 06/25/2012 - 07:42

My combo is
a) common power tool dragon
b)from your hand or with his effect get three horns of the unicorn
c) equip them to power tool
d) (this step is optional) play power tool c and d from your hand and or use his effect

now power tool is almost invincible. If someone destroyed him just send a horn of the unicorn to the graveyard instead. When horn of the unicorn is in the graveyard it is returned to the top of your deck so you can just equip it again the next turn. so now you opponents have to kill you mighty power tool four times in order to remove it from the field. and if you want use a card like black hole so every monster is destroyed. but you can send a horn of the unicorn to the graveyard to save power tool.

Submitted by ravenofthesound on Mon, 07/16/2012 - 02:19

...but suddenly, Heavy Storm hits the field and destroys your equip spells.

Now your combo has suddenly become your worst drawback, as your next three draws are now going to be Horn of the Unicorn and your Power Tool Dragon is open for destruction.

I run a quick synchro deck and my ace is Red Nova Dragon. Here's how I usually summon it. (If the cards are in my favor)

1) play Reborn Tengu and lay down Soul Rope
2) Have RT get killed then activate SR to summon a level 4 tuner along with another RT
3) Synchro Summon Red Dragon Archfiend
4) Play either Resonator Call or something similar and hope to get a Resonator card in your hand (preferably Creation Resonator) then either summon it or (In case of Creation Resonator) special summon it
5) (Again if luck is with me) Play One for One to special summon a level one tuner. (I usually send another tuner to the grave for One for One's cost)
6) Double Tune for Red Nova Dragon and its attack should be up to around 5500

* Before Glow-Up Bulb got banned I usually could get Red Nova's attack even higher or summon it faster.

Normal summon Naturia Mosquito. Use double summon to play Naturia Cliff. Then Just have Cliff to attack and do suicide, play another one from deck then repeat until your out of them. Then play Naturia Beans using the last Naturia Cliff. Have Naturia Beans attack. Your probaly thinking why all the suicides? Well Naturia Mosquito makes the opponent take the battle damage. Naturia Cliff has 1500 atk. Naturia Bens has 100.
If you use cliff 3 times then get beans you can do over 8000 damage in one turn if youyr opponent has a monster with atleast 3200 atk.

I've got several super combos. Atleast one for each of my decks;

1. Remove 6 Spell Counters from "Magical Citadel of Endymion" to Special Summon "Endymion the Master Magician" from your hand or graveyard.
2. Add Any spell card from your graveyard to your hand with the effect of "Endymion the Master Magician."
3. Normal Summon "Gagaga Magician."
4. Use "Gagaga Magicians" effect to make his level anywhere between 6 - 8.
5. Send "Gagaga Magician" and "Endymion the Master Magician" to the Graveyard to Special Summon "The Sorcerer of Dark Magic."
6. Play the field spell "Secret Village of the Spellcasters."

In 1 turn, you have yourself almost complete control over the field...

Your opponent can't use traps, thanks to the sorcerers ability.
Your opponent can't use spells without a spellcaster, thanks to the field spell.
And you've haven't lost any cards in your hands. (Unless Endymion was special summoned from the hand.)

I've got a special combo in all my decks. Here's one of my favorite ones;

1. Remove 6 spell counters from "Magical Citadel of Endymion," and special summon "Endymion the Master Magician" from your hand or graveyard.
2. Add 1 Spell card from your graveyard to your hand with "Endymion the Master Magician's" Effect.
3. Normal Summon "Gagaga Magician" from your hand.
4. Activate "Gagaga Magician's" Effect and make his level anywhere between 6 - 8.
5. Tribute "Endymion the Master Magician" and "Gagaga Magician" to Special Summon "The Sorcerer of Dark Magician."
6. Play the field spell "Secret Village of the Spellcasters."

And now you've got almost complete control of everything on the field in 1 turn. What you've earned is;

*Your opponent can't activate Trap cards.
*Your opponent can't use spell cards without having spellcasters on their field.
*Your opponent is only left with the abilities of effect monsters. (Mainly)
*You've gained a free spell card of your choice from your graveyard.
*You've got atleast 1 monster on your side of the field with 3200 ATK points.
*You've kept the same number of cards in your hand. (Unless you special summoned Endymion from your hand.)

Not the best combo out there, but it has its advantages. Without having spellcaster type monsters of their own, the only effects they have access to are their monsters.
