Justice for Glaudia.

This is the message on the Facebook page created by the Schnellis to ask people to help them find the person who killed 20-year-old Glaudia, the second of the family's three children.

They have been calling for justice for over two years.

On December 2010, Glaudia Schnelli became the victim of a heinous crime.

The loving daughter

Glaudia Schnelli, "Jaja" to her family, is the second of three children. Her mother, Virginia, fondly recalled how affectionate her daughter was.

"Mabait siya, hindi siya pasaway, talagang tahimik siya," Virginia said. "Tuwing lalabas ako ng bahay, may kasunod 'yung text, 'Ingat ka, Ma. I love you.' Tuwing aalis ako, magsasabi iyan ng I love you"

Glaudia’s brother, Mike, also looked up to her.

"Sobrang lambing po niya sa'kin," he said. "Kahit may nakaaway siya, 'di siya madaling magalit."

Aside from being a good daughter and sister, Glaudia was also a diligent student. In fact, she was already slated to graduate with a degree in Mass Communications.

"Marami siyang pangarap pagka-graduate niya," Virginia said.

Little did they know that Glaudia would never live to see her dreams come true.

One fateful day

On December 3, 2010, Virginia asked Glaudia if she would like to accompany her to the Quiapo church. However, Glaudia declined because she was meeting a friend in the afternoon. So Virginia left without her daughter.

At around 3 p.m., Mike left for school and Glaudia was left alone at their home. Virginia tried calling her daughter at around 5 p.m., but there was no response.

"Ang inisip ko noon, nakaalis na siya, nasa biyahe siya," Virginia said. "Kasi 'yun ang usapan namin, 'pag nasa biyahe siya, 'wag niyang sasagutin [ang telepono]."

At around 7 p.m., Virginia began feeling anxious.

"Nung pauwi na 'ko, nasa jeep na 'ko, mga 7 to 7:30 p.m., sabi ko parang kabado na ako, parang gusto ko nang makarating ng bahay. Tapos traffic pa," she said.

When she reached home, the nagging feeling intensified.

"Pumunta ako sa kwarto, sabi ko wala namang tao," Virginia recounted.  "Pagsilip kong ganoon, ang gulo ng kwarto. Kako, umalis pala si Jaja. Hindi man lang ni-lock ang kwarto niya. Binuksan ko nang todo 'yung pinto niya."

What she saw next knocked the wind out of her—her daughter sprawled on the floor, naked and drowning in her own blood.

Dead on arrival

"Gusto ko siyang buhatin, pero wala na, hindi ko na kayang buhatin," Virginia said. "Nagtatatakbo na 'ko, nagsisisigaw, nawala naman ang boses ko. Tapos lumabas ako, nagtatatawag ako ng saklolo."

With the help of the neighbors, Glaudia was rushed to the Parañaque Doctor’s Hospital. But she was declared dead on arrival.

"Kitang-kita ko 'yung mga saksak sa katawan niya," Virginia painfully recalled. "Talagang hanggang ngayon eh parang ramdam ko kung gaano kasakit 'yung mga latay ng sugat, tadtad ng saksak 'yung katawan niya. Sa ganoong bata na walang lakas, daig pang kinatay na baboy."

Glaudia’s brother, Mike, reeled from the news.

"Parang natulala na lang ako, sa pangalawang tingin ko po, binalot na po siya. Parang nawala na 'ko sa sarili ko,” he said.

The incident was immediately reported to the Parañaque Police, which then proceeded to investigate the crime scene.

"Pagpasok mo pa lang sa living room, may mga stain na ng dugo," Investigator-on-case PO2 Mac Arthur Encallado of the Parañaque Police said.

"Tinrace naming 'yung hanggang dun sa kwarto. Dun sa kwarto, nakita ko nga 'yung smudges ng dugo na katunayan ay nagkaroon ng struggle. Tapos 'yung unan may dugo rin kaya nag-request po ako ng taga-crime lab para sa technical aspect ng investigation."

Meanwhile, post-mortem examination showed that the victim sustained 11 stab wounds on different parts of her body. There were also telltale signs that she was raped.

"Talagang hindi ko matanggap, tatatlo na nga lang sila [na mga anak ko]," Virginia said. "Matatanggap ko kung nagkasakit sila o talagang kusang kinuha ng Diyos pero kung kinuha lang ng demonyong tao, napakasakit talaga sa akin nun. Isa pa doon, pinagsamantalahan pa siya."

Cries for justice flooded Glaudia’s Facebook page. Everybody was shocked upon learning about her death. The question on everybody’s mind was, who could have killed sweet and beautiful Glaudia?

Eyewitness accounts

Even before the authorities came up with a suspect, Virginia Schnelli already had one in mind. She said the night Glaudia was killed, she received a text message from her daughter.

"Nag-text siya sa akin bandang alas singko, 'Nandito si Felix'. Sabi ko, umalis ka na diyan at isara mo 'yung bahay at kung may kailangan sa akin, paghintayin mo na lang sa labas," Virginia recalled.

There was not enough evidence to support her suspicions. Fortunately, witnesses surfaced.

According to one witness, at around 3 p.m. on December 3, 2010, a suspicious man left the Schnelli house. The man was identified as "Piting," one of the family's neighbors.

The second witness said in a statement that at around 5:40 p.m., after wandering around near the Schnelli house, Piting climbed up to the house's roof and entered through the door of the water tank. A few moments later, the witness heard Glaudia scream.

Afterwards, Piting came out of the house with a brown jacked wrapped around his right arm.

The authorities pieced together all the information they gathered and discovered that Piting was actually Felix Lasala, Glaudia's mother's ex-boyfriend.

The suspect

Too close for comfort

"Siya ang driver ng tricycle ko sa Puerto, siya ang taga-hatid at taga-sundo ng mga anak ko nung maliliit pa," Virginia explained. "Inaalagaan niya ang mga bata, kaya alam din ng mga bata na mabait siya."

Later on, Virginia and Piting developed feelings for each other.

"Nung tumagal na, nagkaroon kami ng relasyon," Virginia said. "Pumupunta siya rito kasi inuutusan ko, palibhasa may tiwala ako sa kanya. Siya na ang pinagkakatiwalaan ko 'pag may gagawin dito sa loob ng bahay."

At first, Virginia saw nothing wrong with their relationship. But then, Piting changed.

"Parang napapansin ko na 'pag kausap ko siya, parang laging lasing. Pero 'di naman siya amoy alak. 'Pag nagsasalita siya, parang ngiwi na ngiwi 'yung bunganga niya," Virginia said.

Virginia suspected that Piting was taking drugs.

Wanted: Felix Lasala

The situation worsened when Piting found out that Glaudia had a boyfriend.

"Kung anu-ano na ang sinasabi niya sa akin kasi pinapayagan ko raw si Glaudia na umuwi nang gabi kasama ang boyfriend niya," Virginia said.

The authorities found sufficient motive to pin Felix "Piting" Lasala as the suspect. On January 19, 2011, he was charged with rape with homicide at the Parañaque Regional Trial Court Branch 257. 

Unfortunately, no one has seen Piting since the crime happened. To date, he remains at large.

To help with the manhunt, Glaudia’s family and friends created a Facebook page, urging anyone who has information on the suspect's whereabouts to inform the authorities. The family has offered a bounty of P200,000 with hopes that soon, justice will be served for Glaudia.
