Nippon Ichi's The Witch And The Hundred Soldiers Marches In June
And with this PS3 RPG comes a few minigames.
01.10.12 - 11:22 PM

Nippon Ichi's The Witch and the Hundred Soldiers is a PS3 title in which you control a swamp witch named Metallica (yes, really). She's summoned an undead knight whom you might have seen in screenshots, who in turn has 99 other soldiers that he can call upon. With these 100 guys come a lot of choices, such as deciding what weapons they'll carry out into battle. You have five slots for weapons and equipment, of which you have ten different types.

One thing to keep in mind is you might want to dodge enemies at the last possible second. Doing so triggers Mystical Dodge, which then slows down time and makes you invincible for a short period. You can also set it to trigger Onimusha instead which allows you to perform a one-hit kill, or Extra Chain, which as you might have guessed lets you chain together attacks more easily. Enemies will come in handy in other ways too: the witch can enslave them (for what purpose, is not clear) or your soldiers can consume them alive to regain stamina. (Is anyone else getting Digital Devil Saga flashbacks? Anyone?)

You can also choose what town in the game will host your home. And if battling ever gets boring, in town you can partake in some minigames, such as gambling, fishing, or a Japanese board game called sugoroku (not to be confused with sudoku).

The Witch and the Hundred Soldiers is slated for a June 28th release in Japan.
